I like Britain, and that's not how most Of America thinks of you guys. See during the election liberals like Obama had to put all of the evils on G.W Bush and he cant do that if he plays you guys up as our allies.

What Im saying is he has his head so far up his ass (and the media is helping it stick)that he has no idea how much you guys helped us out in recent past as well as before this war in other wars.

He's pissing on it for political gain
Hmm if this is completely true, and if it will last the length of Obama's presidency this is actually quite worrying. Because he seems like a generally good person to have in charge (judging from the ideals in his book and that he seems to be actually putting some into action), hopefully though he'll come to his sense once people realise he's quite a bit away from GW Bush.

All I can say is that London is totally fucking awesome. Queen, fish and chips, Judas Priest, Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, awesome subways, Lucy Pinder, need I say more?

Amsterdam is also cool too because of its... uh Natural Landmarks.
Awesome subways? I dread to think what yours must be like if you LIKE our Londons tubes! lol
Hey man, public transportation in L.A is a fucking nightmare. I swear the subways would eat you.

P.S. Fish and Chips > Hotdogs/Cheeseburgers
Both of which are originally German. (not so sure about the cheeseburger though, but the hotdog is ;D)

Edit: I meant hotdogs/cheeseburgers not fish n chips.

Britain is much smaller, and I believe that gives it many superior qualities in the political-science arena. I think that both the EU+Britain and the US can learn from each other as we both move forward in this fast-paced technological age. The US doesn't have the "civilized" (that word is so going to get me in trouble) history to draw on that Europe as a whole has, and while the US is still a relatively new country that will play a factor in our relationship with each other.
On the international stage, i see Britain serving as a bridge between the EU and America- which is an important role, if western civilization is going to move forward as one.
Why are Britain and America close?
Well as others have sort of implied- America broke away from the British Empire, America helped Britain A LOT in WW2- but also, quite crucially, we both speak English- which helps as it means that American and British individuals can become friends (I know several American's online, good friends with two of them)- there is no language barrier- as there is within Europe, which i think is a major obstacle in creating a union which works together efficiently.

Britian is an annoying little pest of no consequence when compared to the awesome might of the United States!
Just kidding, you guys are a valuable ally and a great friend to the US. I would love to come over somtime and visit, both England and the rest of Great Britian.
Plus you guys have a cool accent, and you had Monty Python, and some great rock groups.

I never thought about the language, it makes trade, diplomacy etc. so much easier between the two countries. Also things such as sarcasm, pride, anger could easily be lost in translation whereas hearing them raw must be more powerful and install a greater effect.

I work with some Brits. Great folk, I like them a lot. I've always wanted to visit, too...

Your government, though...I wish you'd just tell the EU to go stuff itself (cowards they are), and do your own thing...it worked for hundreds of years for you, after all. You also have a lot of weird censorship things going on, it looks like, and restrictions on all sorts of things. I mean, is it true they banned carrying any kind of knife on you?

The people, though...they're great. Your food sucks, however;)
Yes it's true, but the reason they did that is to reduce the amount of knife crime, because as guns aren't allowed, youths started carrying knives for "protection", and at one point I believe there were about 20 murders in 6 months in London alone using knives in the street, all committed by and done to teenagers.

P.S. Fish and Chips > Hotdogs/Cheeseburgers
Duuuuuuuuuude. 20 murders in 6 months is it? Shock! There's like, 20+ murders a day in cities like New York.

Though, before any crazy anti-gun advocates show up, let me state that I am totally pro-gun. Furthermore, research done on why the murder rate is high in the US suggests it's more due to the fact that it's more due to differences in societies, and the way our law enforcement defines homicide, rather than due to guns.
In germany we had a total of 314 murders and 378 manslaughters in 2007.

So either it's because we (europeans) don't have guns as easily available or because we are more civilized than certain other countries...

Having lived in Britain, you may find my answer quite surprising: I have no fucking clue.

We Americans only hear about Britain on the news only every once in a while (i.e.-whenever someone famous meets the queen, whenever Tony Blair visits America, or anything regarding any of the remaining Beatles), which is a shame, because I like Britain a lot; I grew up there for heavens sake!

I guess the best way to describe America and Britain's connection is simply as a connection, a line that isn't going to be broken anytime soon. I think America only cares about countries that AREN'T slowly being westernized, which basically means North Korea, China, and most of the Middle East.

Speaking from a totally neutral standpoint (I'm swiss) you're just kind of...there. Like Canada. Honestly, you just don't seem that important nowadays. Most people see you as America's little brother, which is ironic, since you birthed America in the first place.
Really, you're the country with great humor, terrible food and a funny accent.

As an American, I see Britain as our greatest ally, and it would be wise of US policy makers to recognize this, and work to keep it that way. We need friends these days.
I don't know how Brits feel about us, but I hope they view the US the same way.
