Vandread.
Its an excellent Shonen Romance....kinda.
you would haft to check it out for yourself, its a really good series.
Even a basic story is to much for me to describe.
Im surprised not many people have seen it.
I remember that, I think. Was it about an intergalactic cootie-war? If so, I think I saw the first episode.
Close but no Banana.
Its about a boy that lives on a planet made entirly of men(Taraak),tries to hijacks a Mecha he actually helped build, and gets cought, while impresond on the ship he snuck onto that had the mecha it gets attacked by Pirates from the Neighburing planet(Mejere) a planet made up entirely of women.
The men evacuate the battle ship leaving hibiki and three other men on board with the pirates and fire a missile at the ship to prevent it from falling into the hands of the women, but the ships experimental energy source, the Paksis Pragma, destroys the missile which creates a wormhole that sends the ship and pirate ship to a distant part of the galaxy.
Hibiki's mecha, and the dreads, fighter ships, of three of the women become altered along with the rest of the newly fused battle/pirate ship creating a cool new design to it and a LOT of technical problems.
So now the three men and all the women on the ship haft to get along in order to make it back to their own planets, discovering a dark secret about why their planets are the way they are and fighting of strange alien ships.

Its defiantly worth a watch.

Yup, I saw the first episode. Perhaps I should give it another look.

Shaman King, Mon Colle Knights, Digimon, .hack//sign, don't seem to have a big following I've seen.

Rideback wasn't too popular, as far as I noticed. And even though it was on Adult Swim, no one seems to remember Blue Gender. I also have seen a couple minutes of the Starship Troopers anime.

Im shure you would like it.
Now it does have gender humor but it dosent overtake the story and make the series un-watchable, it actually adds to it.....which is strange.

Ground Defense Force Mao-chan, Tattoon Master, Ah My Buddha, I's, Ramen Fighter Miki...there's a few. Some of which are deservedly obscure.
I've actually heard of I's, it was a weird thing to come from Shonen Jump.

I loved the Shaman King manga (though not the anime, as the version available was 4kids dubbed)!

I usually watch mid-common anime like Bleach, Soul Eater, Naruto, Trigun, Full Metal Alchemist and Metalocalypse.

I'm not exactly an anime fan but I remember watching this really obscure one called Dragon Half on sci-fi years ago was only two episodes long if I remember.

Metalocalypse isn't an anime, and I contest the mid-common classification for Bleach, and outright reject it for Naruto.

I am a huge fan of "Azumanga Daioh," not that obscure in Japan but certainly is in other places. Aside from that "Minami-ke" is ok if you want an everyday life kind of show, and "Welcome to the NHK" is a very very dark reality full of conspiracy.

You people don't know obscure if it hit you in the face...

I've watched the Rapeman OAV.

I think I've won.

I don't really know what is considered obscure or not, as I knew most of the series that people have listed here. That said, the one which even my Anime more-fanatical-than-me friend didn't know was Godonnar. Terrible show, don't waste your time watching it.

If we are talking about good obscure shows, I would say Maria-holic or maybe Giant Robo, assuming those are considered obscure.

I'll admit mild pickyness with the Naruto and Bleach parts, but I have no idea how you considered Metalocalypse an anime. Avatar The Last Airbender I can understand, but Metalocalypse doesn't resemble anime beyond being animated.

Disclaimer: If anyone somehow thought this, no, I'm not criticizing Metalocalypse for not being an anime.

This all depends on your definition of Anime, which most would say no. That's including me :p. Also I too reject Naruto I for one found it *braces for upcoming hate* awful.

I have three. Gurren Lagann, Gintama and Fighting Foodons.

Also why has nobody mentioned Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo yet?
