However, I will say that the new spy stuff is OP in the hands of an expert with a dead ringer. If you can get inside the lines, then you can do a LOT of damage.
Sorry, I'm not too informed on all the new items for spy, so I can't make a proper judgement. I can say though, spy was never a class that was easy to learn or one to have a low skill ceiling. You can get a decent amount of kills but still be a liability to your team for doing almost-useless things.
The only reason people are doing well with it now is because they haven't figured how to counter it yet. Give them time, and people will complain about how UP it is.

The pay system just takes out a lot of the grind for those who are too busy to bother with that shit.
Oh no.
How terrible.

OT: I say good on Valve; they've found a way to make a bit of extra money and improve the experience for people put off by the prospect of grinding.
Don't forget, some of the proceeds go to the person that made the item. So this is great all around really.

Team Fortress 2 has never been ruined. It has simply been enhanced and kept fresh. The item shop system does nothing to hinder the gameplay of the game other than allowing people to pay for items they want. You can still craft for the item or obtain the item by random drops, so it's no big deal.
Give the people at Valve a break, they're not putting a subscription or adding premium content into the game or anything, they're just trying to make some money out of a game while continuing to give great free updates for all the players.

I crafted Vintage merry weather just before the update, when the update finally hits the game automatically convert all item you have into "Vintage" so now i have a "Vintage Vintage Merry Weather" quite funny I'd say.

OT: I actually looking forward to this system really, now i can support Valve by buying in game stuffs, instead of gifting a game to someone who plays it for an hour then never play it again.

TF2 was ruined forever when they made the first class-specific update. The balance was gone, and you had to grind.

So histories greatest shooter were even better before I bought it?

1. People cannot 'buy their way to the top'.
Scout A crafted Mad Milk, The Shortstop and The Holy Mackeral
Scout B crafted Mad Milk, The Shortstop, The Holy Mackeral AND paid for The Milkman (the hat)
Scout B have all four pieces of the set therefore get a 25 Max health bonus with no downsides

Nobody was talking aboot Goldeneye or the Metroid Prime series, we're talking aboot that so-so Valve shooter.
Each class update made the balance a little worse, and made the game a little grindier.

I don't want to be the hater, but seriously this game has been a hat collecting FPS simulator. After people started treating people without hats like garbage I quite and went to the Xbox version and I gotta say I play better and have more fun instead of yelling over the internet at the scout who won't stop shoving his Holy Mackerel up my ass to pay attention to him.

Scout B still gets backstabbed just as easy. And Sniped just as easy. And still dies from a Krit-Wrench. And set on fire as easy.

If you're willing to pay £12 for a situational bonus, I've got a piece of the Brooklyn Bridge you'll just LOVE.

+25 health isn't what I'd call situational.

I still stand by the hats really shouldn't give buffs/nerfs unless they're as common as weapons/specifically craftable

The buying system doesn't bother me.

TRADE CRATE FOR PYRO HAT!!!
TRADE CRATE FOR PYRO HAT!!!
TRADE CRATE FOR PYRO HAT!!!

THAT'S what's bothering me! It turned TF2 into Maplestory! 'Ey, you have two crates and no key? No, you don't have to buy the key. What kind are the crates? Type one? Naw, sorry, I want type two.' |-( There are 'types' now?

Valve said that TF2 is their experimental ground, something where they can put ANYTHING in and get away with it.

In most regards, this is true. Some things are so wacky that they wouldn't fit in any other game (like a fish, slapslapslap).

But TF2 was perfect where perfection is not something that you can't put something in, but you can't take anything away from. Now it's slowly starting to be a really Gigabyte eating mess of something that was so simple and fun in the beginning.

Given the situations the Scout's in, 25 health is nothing.

Well, there has been hints that they already are...

Agreed with Dazz, it's not situational, it's a straight out advantage.

Also, Mad Milk makes setting on fire a *LOT* harder, because they can just outrun you, and put themselves out as they go.

[Edit]I'm not claiming TF2 is ruined forever, I trust valve will work on balancing this back out, but the Scout changes feel like somewhat of a big deal :p[/EDIT]

Also: People sat in spawn during games spending hours trading instead of playing >:/

Well I'll happily take everything I can get as a scout then, but still -25 health on a scout compared to a pyro/demoman still doesn't seem right.
The -15 health from the sandman is significant enough, a +25 I can only imagine would be very beneficial. Eventually I'll find out.

As for the hats, I had heard the rumours about being able to specifically craft, and I think that's not the best solution but alright. I'll tolerate that happily like I do with the weapon unlocks.

But TF2 is far from ruined, I just prefer a level playing field in skill/teambased games, and if the gameplay changing items are easy to obtain it should be fine.

It still plays fine for me, I'm enjoying it as always. Found a hat this week, which also helps.

430 hours and counting...
