What is the etiquette concerning PM'ing a mod about a thread, that I think is in need of attention?

Title of thread. Reason. No namecalling. No drama. Pretty much the same as most posts.

I still need to find the staff that locked my thread though, without giving a reason. I'm not going to sit idly by without a reason, but will accept any valid reason without complaint.

I'm not party to who locked your thread, but the promotion of illegalities may just well be why it was locked.

It's even in the rules : Offensive, malicious or illegal content. Sorry dude, we don't want to end up on FOX News either.

You're not setting an example by locking my thread, you're just being overly sensitive on a subject that is considered taboo.

Another user that is trying to play the victim and failing - if its in the rules they can lock your thread. You broke said rules therefore your thread gets locked - its amazing how many people don't seem to understand this simple process...

You thread discussed drugs, a topic that is banned; I don't see the problem...

Yes I am on both counts.

I can see the validity in the reason, what I cannot see is the difference between two different "illegal acts" (In this case piracy and drug-use, and underage drinking and drug-use).

Well its quite simple really, one is the theft of digital media and abusing substances, whilst the other is drinking a legal drug at an age at which it is illegal, and taking substances.

This especially since I, in my original post for the thread, announced that I did not want to encourage the usage of drugs. Much unlike some of the drinking threads that pretty much encourage underage drinking, and the many threads and users that openly condone piracy.

The thing is, a great proportion of those threads, that I have seen have been locked - as was yours.

True, but I don't think you should take the comment too literally, I believe its an attempt at claiming the sites image is important.

Indeed, I was wondering at the irony about being banned from a seemingly innocuous post on a thread which has alluded to the same thing.

I'd like to be added to as I feel I was wrongly put on probation for doing to opposite of what I was trying to do, and because the mods haven't contacted me back on the message I sent them stating why I felt I did'nt deserve to be probated.

It's just a simple probation, kid. It' no big deal.

I was'nt trying to enforce them, I was trying to un-enforce them! I was trying to give them a taste of their own medicine.

How? How would them being called out on being a troll do anything other than give them the attention they desire?

I don't know... Necroswanson's post doesn't really seem like it deserves a perm-ban, but at least a suspension. But I can't really understand why Darth Mobius was banned. It really doesn't make sense to me.

His comments on how he believed everyone who commits suicide is a coward who deserves to die might have had an effect. That and accusing people of bestiality. I suppose insinuating we should use the word 'Christian' as an insult might have affected the decision. The attacking other people on sight, that might have been involved.

The fact that he did all this within 32 hours, and that it was far from the first time? That might have sealed it.

I'm basing my opinion off of only just reading the posts that got their respective posters banned. Using the word 'Christian' as an insult isn't a big deal, as he was using it in the same sense that everyone uses 'retarded' or 'gay' as an insult. If anyone is mad that he said that... it's really their problem, because it's a double standard to be mad about 'Christian' and not 'retarded'.

Yeah, folks around here get annoyed when users use "gay" and "retarded" as insults. Singling out an entire group of religious folks (of which I am one) and using that as an insult was rather venomous. Certainly not intended to promote intelligent, respectful discussion. Besides, it's not like the other stuff Mobius said was so very nice. I dare say the permaban was merited in this case.

Edit: Just wanted to say thanks to the mods for the little note regarding pimppeter's permaban. I really appreciated the explanation. I know you guys (and girls) don't have to give reasons, so I felt like saying thanks for those times when you feel like putting in the extra effort just to keep us informed.
