Then why do you keep bringing up emotional reactions that have to do with the legally-recognised holder of the copyright being the same person who 'created' the property when plenty of those holders have never " created anything worth pirating" let alone the property being pirated?
I don't. At no point did I ever state that the two had to be identical. You are deliberately misinterpreting my statements in order to obfuscate them, as you have with others'.

Well I currently have no job, so I am not going to waste what little money I have on CD's and music. When I can afford to, I will gladly support my fav bands and films.

I usually don't pirate, I buy CDs I want, or simply listen to songs I like on youtube... I'm pretty sure that's not illegal most of the time :p

With games... That can be complicated... I have pirated a few games before, and I will most like do so again in the future.
Where I live there's peer pressure, if someone asks me "hey did you buy that **** game?" and I go like "No man, couldn't afford it" the repsonse would most likely be something like "Haha oh man, you mean you don't just pirate them? hahaha xD I gotta tell the guys this"

I'm not supposed to give into that and I rarely do, it just bugs me how expensive games are... It bugs me even more when my country is ignored and the game is not released here, that's most often the case when I pirate games.

Then there are the movies, I don't pirate them. If I go see them in a cinema and find them really great I buy them on DVD, if they're epic, I buy them on Blu Ray. My friends pirate them though, like crazy... I sometimes watch them but I usually just rent if I want to see some movie.

If you actually read what I typed, and then took two seconds to actually think about it, you would realize your argument is more porous than a colander. How are the creators LOSING money when I pirate? Sure, you could argue that they are losing the possibility that I might buy their product (when I am rich beyond my dreams), but it's not like I would be buying their product if I didn't have the opportunity to pirate it. If you actually read what I typed, then you would know I pointed out that it's not as if 40 bucks are taken out of EA's bank account when I pirate Spore (which I didn't pirate by the way). Please don't reply until you actually know what's going on.
You don't have to take money from the developers to be stealing from them. You can obtain their services without paying... which in the vernacular would be considered theft.

The developers made a product. It cost them money to make it, to pay the wages of their artists and programmers and support staff mainly; likely they borrowed the money to pay those costs. They offered the product to the public at a given price in order to pay back the borrowed money and hopefully earn enough to make the next product without having to borrow more.

You took the product, but didn't pay the price. You gain the benefit of their work, without contributing something in return so that they can make the next product for you to benefit from.

Tell me what I should call that.

Given my experience I think I have a better idea of what's going on than you do; I've been there. I suspect you cannot say the same.

What I was arguing against was that developers are losing money when I pirate. Lots of people claim that, but it's totally inaccurate. I would never be so naive as to say that pirating should be encouraged, I don't claim that piracy should be a way of life. The truth is, I couldn't care less whether it's stealing or not, as long as I get the application and have some fun.

Of course, I don't expect you to concede that your argument didn't correctly address my comment, seeing as you are as stubborn as a mule.

Anyways, I'd rather shoot myself then help EA make any money.

If it is a game or album I really want, and I really love the artist/game, and I actually have the money to get it or can save up without other things needing to be paid/bought, then I will.

Most games here are ridiculously priced. I'm not paying $70 for a game that is about 4 years old. And if it is a game I cannot get here, then I will download it. If someone has downloaded and burnt I game for me, I will play it.

I very rarely download music now a days though. Pretty much the only times I do is if there is only one or two songs on a whole album that I actually like, and I know I won't be able to learn to love the rest.

However, once I can start working, then I'm sure I will pirate less. It's not that life is omgsohard without pirating, it just makes things easier on the little cash I have. When I start getting a steady income, then I'll more than happy to buy games again, new and used, not to mention finally get a bloody 360.

Again I raise point to my first post

Can you prove that pirates are ruining the games/music/film industry

Can you state categorically how much 1 pirate has caused in damages to each of these businesses.....I honestly do not think you can.
can you prove that the brutal murder of Teachingaddict ruined his familly?... i dont think you can.
Why the hell do people continue to place piracye along other major crimes, it is a load of rubbish imo and isn't needed. I'm actually getting tired or all these "you wouldnt do this crime or that" . To the person who stated you wouldnt take someones credit card and use it - no you bloody wouldnt, and its obvious that this would be illegale as you are "stealing" from this person. To rough quote a previous poster, if a company sells X games, and has A games pirated, there is absolutely no bloody proof that all the "A" games would have been bought in the first place, and they have still sold X games. So take your "brutal murder" post elsewhere, it has absolutely no justification in this argument whatsoever. Stealing from someone a physcial object will cause a loss, stealing an electronic object AND NOT using it for profit does not constitute proof that piracy affects the industry.

It was death by murder.

Death tends to ruin one's life. I've never seen someone pull it together and move past being brutally murdered. People tend to get stuck in that experience, and to the best of my knowledge, rarely have much of a life after they've been the victim of a brutal murder.
You win the internet.

Seriously, that almost made my Cup Noodles go up my nose.

I just don't quite see how its easier to live with knowing that you've stolen a game than to just go without.
I did not steal it, i copied it.
Wahtever helps you sleep at night, but remember: at the end of the day, you're getting something for nothing when you should be getting something for something.

I sleep oh so good:)
In the end of the day I just don't care. I'm not hurting anyone, or anyone's company.
