Convenience, I go to the gym at uni when I'm in uni for lectures anyway. Over summer I stop going and don't start up til uni does again.

Coincidentally, my tops get baggier around my arms and tighter around the waist over summer too...

Normally I work out when I feel particularly fat and lazy, which doesnt happen often. I lead a pretty active lifestyle, but then again I have to. I live in Alaska where one simply cannot enjoy the state to its fullest if one is fat.
Thats a good point, there is nothing worse than trying to take a nice hike in a beautiful place only to get winded 60 yards down the trail.
Sometimes standard shape doesnt cut it either, Ive been on 20 mile hikes and overnight trips. Its all worth it in the end because I get to see some trully stunning vistas. I love being in shape, I dont know what I would do if I wasnt. My little bro doesnt care though, hes overweight and spends all day in front of his computer.

In a way I think developing a genuinely unhealthy vanity helps me. Just look at your body, and then look at it after you've worked out. If you've worked yourself to the point at which your muscles really hurt, often times this will cause them to grow, and after they do, just look at them, and take pleasure in the change you've brought about in yourself. Flex your muscles and feel that they're harder than they used to be. It's about making yourself really care about how you look, but it's also about constantly making yourself aware of the fact that your workouts have a real affect on how you look, and that the more you do work out the better you'll look. From there, apply a little bit of sex drive and the desire to find someone of the opposite sex. That's the self depricating process that drives me to exercise for about an hour a day (20 minutes in the morning, 40 in the evening).

It also helps if you do make your workouts fun. I have a home gym, and I pop a DVD into the TV in front of it, so that I can exercise while watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, or Scrubs, or whatever else strikes my fancy.

Work out while at work.
I work graveyard shifts at a medical factory, and theres not much to do, so i get time to work out while getting paid. Theres a small gym at the factory.

Apart from that, situps can be done in front of a TV, that makes it a lots less booring to do.

Just force yourself to do it for a while, and eventually it should become a sort of habit for you. You'll start feeling guilty about days you miss, and working out won't seem quite as horrible as it may once have. Plus, after doing it you feel much more energized and overall more healthy as time goes on. As for my motivation, I feel guilty if I don't, and I just enjoy blowing off some steam by pumping iron. I was kind of teased as a kid for being plumb. I never want that to happend again.

I train Judo, which I enjoy a lot (to my girlfriends great anger lol). And since it's fun I do it often.

Point is, find something that you think is fun. If it's boring, you'll stop.

You have to enjoy it.

I find joy in training, if it's the right kind. Like doing it with your friends or try something different. Kick-boxing, soccer and yoga are my favorites. And afterwards you sleep really well. I don't like pushing myself to hard, so that I feel forced to train.

1. When i`m horny i just do push-ups `till i`m so tired so that i can`t get up.

i dont work out... sorry cant help you much, but generally i am happy with the body ive got i weight 85 kilos, 187.39 pounds more or less (take 5 kilos if i go to the EDIT Bathroom EDIT i am totally constipated), sooooo yeah...

My motivation used to be getting into shape to improve my self esteem and to finally get into shape. Now, my motivation is to get into better shape and to work out simply for the sake of working out. If you exercise for long enough, it takes more work to get yourself to not work out than it takes to get up and do it.

I tend to think of all the good things that come with a good, strong body, such as female attention, confidence, and increased physical ability. I also tend to think to myself that many things in this world require a good physique. I know that it's not true, but it often helps me get through those last five bench presses.

For example, as I'm performing the movement: "You want that Ferrari 288 GTO/beautiful girl/reputation? Then go get it, you pussy!"

Oh yeah, beating yourself up mentally helps as well. Helps motivate you to get yourself to where you want to be.

Media, especially music, helps a lot. If I see a music video full of gangsters and tough guys, and the music is good as well, it makes me want to get that sort of lifestyle, part of which requires a good physique. Even if you're not watching the music video, those images stay in your head and you are reminded of it all while exercising. Here's an example of what I'm talking about:

Multi-tasking during exercise helps. I watch Law & Order: SVU while I work out. I can't really do that while I go jogging, but if you have an MP3 player, you can listen to some of that music I mentioned earlier. I prefer to just enjoy the cool, quiet morning.

My own exercise routine consists of an hour-long workout everyday, with barbells and dumbbells. Also, a one kilometer run around the block every morning.

I know how it feels with the lack of motivation. I go to a gym, I don't take it too seriously, I take it quite lightly and what I mean by light as in at the least JOGGING on the treadmill and not walking like alot of people do and it's just usless. I lost weight and the belly. I also know that alot of women prefer slightly buff men rather than hulking muscules.

Well, I have managed to maintain a regular 3 times a week routine at the gym. Besides the fact that I'm paying £34 a month for the privelige of being able to use the gym which makes sure I keep attending so I'm not wasting my money.

Other than that, the fact that I was beginning to "let myself go" a bit was a big boost. That and on a slightly more vain note, a desire to appear more attractive to the opposite sex.

It helps to go with a friend as well. Having someone to be accountable to makes you more likely to keep it up than if you do it entirely by yourself.

I'm still stuck at the boredom phase. I've worked out and seen a little bit of result, I've had the endorphin release that it brings, and even with feeling good afterwards but found the whole process so damn tedious that I dropped from 3 times a week, to 2, to 1, to getting fed up with the sight of it. I have no idea how to motivate myself now, I want to work for the body I'd like, but every time I start I realise just how sick of the gym I am.

Running is a no go, the only road I have near me is a single track lane deathtrap. Blind corners and huge lorries that take up the whole road at 50mph is not the place you go to run.

I walk a couple of miles a day to try and keep it up, but it's just papering over the cracks and preventing me getting too big, rather than actually achieving a loss.

How the hell can you get the motivation to enjoy that tedium?
