Damn, that's one hell of a day. People have brought drugs into my school. And I think one kid had to be taken to a hospital because he had overdosed. And there are the occasional fights that rarely last that long.

Although I have also thought about lighting myself on fire at school. Not in the "I want to die" way, but in a prankish sort of way. Find that stuff that burns "cold" (doesn't actually burn what its on), wear some fireprook clothes, then light myself up and walk down the hallways. The cafeteria has the big long window-wall that goes along this one really long hallway. So essentially do this while a lunch is going on then just go down the bordering hallway. Whether I would run screaming or walk calmly I never figured out. Couldn't decide which would be more hilarious. Main reason that I never did is because I'm sure that I would be in some deep-shit. And not just with the school to, I'm sure that some other authorities wouldn't take kindly to something like this. And I'd probably have to had my mind checked out make sure I'm not insane ("I swear it was just some random idea I had while bored and walking down a hallway.")

Hope the one kid is okay. I hear burns hurt something fierce.

Jesus. Makes me appreciate my school, where the most that happened was the occasional fight that wasn't even a fight (just a punch or two before someone intervened).

I do remember someone bringing a gun to another school, but it was unloaded, and he got expelled shortly afterward.

Well that is tragic...i could count myself lucky the most dangerous thing we've had are fights that people will pay to see and a knife brought out.

Worst my highschool was some hunter wandering onto elementary school grounds (with his loaded gun) asking for directions.

Now I'm at college and every window int he dorm was shattered, people are often mugged at knife point right on campus and a few years before I attended it there was a dead body found in a nearby dumpster. Only reason I go there is because it's the only college near where I live, and I'm too poor to move away.

But what happened at your school sounds terrifying, worst thing that ever happened while I was in high school was a moderately sized drug bust.

I go to UT-Austin. A few months ago, some jackass sophomore blew his brains out with an AK-47 in the main library, that's about the most exciting thing that's happened here.

My art teacher was arrested for having sex with a minor using a foreign object. Nothing else really because my school was cleaned up quite a bit a few years prior to my joining. Fights, drugs, and students with lots of guns. There was a shit load of gang crap there for a number of years.

A friend of mine who saw the event said that her class was interrupted by screaming that wouldn't stop, and they looked out into the hall and saw a student on fire with black smoke going everywhere.

Uh, lessee, we had kids bring guns to school, but they mostly stayed in tool boxes and the like.(hunting season)

I carried a knife pretty much every day.

We had a kid OD on pills(thankfully, I'm not the one who sold them to him)

A bunch of people(teachers included) went to school drunk or hung over.

A buddy of mine got suspended for having a dead bear in the bed of his truck. I'm still not entirely sure what rule he broke....

Wait, do you go to public school? Drugs in a high schools are like guns in the military. My guidance councilor admits that we have a drug problem ("but you know what? There are drugs everywhere" that her quote). I swear 1st day of school (as a freshman) I'm pretty sure I saw drugs being sold. I'm pretty sure more than 50% of the school has tried or smokes pot.

Yes I did go to public school. It was out in the country though, if that makes any difference. And no, I wouldn't be surprised if it was common for schools to have drug problems. I'm just saying that it happened at my school. Often enough apparently for the police to do random searches of the school with a drug-sniffing dog.

I go to school in a stepford wealthy community so not much happens, I guess sometimes people get busted for bringing weed, one guy got expelled for bringing a nerf gun and thats pretty much about it.

EDIT: Someone else's post just reminded me of something one of the Middle School teachers was fired for coming to school drunk once. This happened when I didn't go to the school but I had gone there so I guess it counts.

Some one brought a bullet proof vest and a handgun to school, but it he was quickly found and arrested. Freshman and Sophomore year 2 different students were shot on the way to school. Uhh a security officer got maced by a student, and of course fights every day. Yea my school isn't too bad really.
