Iron Maiden's good songs are among the best that 80's metal had to offer
Not even close to the best.
Alright, you see, there are these things called opinions - my Iron Maiden comment was me expressing mine. Just jumping in and saying "not even close to the best" is so incredibly terse, arrogant, and dismissive of you that it literally shocked me to see it. However, worst of all, you didn't even bother to name all these other bands that are apparently far better than Maiden, which is totally not cool. So, would you care to do that? Because I'm really interested.

Oh, and please, don't bother naming anything by Slayer, Metallica, Anthrax, or Megadeth. Been there, done that.

But you presented your post as fact. Learn how to write opinions.

If from the 80s then Celtic Frost,Death,Bathory,Morbid Angel,Possessed,Voivod,Candlemass, and Slayer,Metallica,Anthrax and Megadeth.
is it really necessary to preface everything one says with "in my opinion"? Are you really unable to infer that when an individual says they like something or they think something is of a superior quality, they are saying that because that's what they believe to be true, particularly when it comes to something subjective like musical tastes?

Such as when you said "not even close to the best", I'm aware that you're not stating a fact, you're stating your opinion. But I suppose the great skill of inference is one that eludes some people, ie. you.

The only two new albums i have like this year are Linkin park's new album cause Ive been a fan since 2000 and rise against because their new album was killer, other than that almost everything else on the radio sucks. Thee cut off year for good music in my eye's is 2007, at that point everyone rushed to copy much more cause let's face it their are plenty of posers in the music industry.

Absolutely everyone ever.

If you have ever picked up an instrument or sung a note then you are grossly overrated.

Also, I am so non-mainstream that the only music I listen to is recordings of rivers and thunderstorms.

So there.
Rivers and Thunderstorms used to be good, but now everyone's heard of them...especially rivers. You could almost say that they became
mainstream
I prefer Slight Seismic Rumblings with Undertones of Aquatic Doom.
Apparently they're really big in Japan at the moment.
Damn, I almost thought it was too soon for that. Fuck it.

I bet Zeus loves the band Lightning Bolt. Oh, shit, ummm.

I bet the rock genre is going through a New Wave in Japan.

Anyways, I'll pitch in and say Weezy. Seriously, I don't care that you fly hard like geese erection.

I think that Devin Townsend and Iron Maiden are pretty overrated. They're still good artists though

Ke$ha, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, etc, etc. You get the idea.

If there's any band that I would consider to be the best, in my opinion of course. It would be Breaking Benjamin.

And really, there's no need to feel sorry for today's youth.
Really? I do. If my sister's high school is any indication of "today's youth" then barely any of them have heard of Monty Python and they hate Bill Nye. If that doesn't make someone feel sorry for them then I don't know what will.

(This is a joke obviously.)

Everyone today, let's be honest. I haven't heard a song with truly thought provoking lyrics since Hail to the Thief by Radiohead. While my favourite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers and I'm salivating at the thought of their new album their last one, Stadium Arcadium, sucked. It was terrible and it won them more awards than any of their previous, far superior albums. Also with you mentioning the Beatles I think their earlier stuff is overrated. They're catchy but the Beatles best songs can be found in everything after Revolver.

"Maiden is some of the best 80s metal" sounds like a fact.

"Out of the 80s i prefer Iron Maiden most" sounds like an opinion.

Such as when you said "not even close to the best", I'm aware that you're not stating a fact, you're stating your opinion. But I suppose the great skill of inference is one that eludes some people, ie. you.
Is that why you still asked me to list better bands than maiden anyway? You were still "suprised" that someone disagreed.(Besides that shocking post of mine lulz).
No, that wasn't it at all, actually. I was just looking for recommendations - I'm always interested in expanding my musical catalogue, and I find the best way to do so is to ask other people about their favourite bands. Despite the hostility that has overshadowed these few exchanges, it should be noted that I do appreciate the suggestions.
