Todays youth are so uneducated

Hey guys,

So tonight at church, my friend was playing the theme from inside Link's house on piano (from Zelda OOT obviously) and this kid who was probably 13 came up and said, "Legend of Zelda is such a gay game!"
"Why do you say that?" I inquired
"Because you run around as a gay little elf!"
"You're retarded" I replied.
"You know what is an awesome game" he said "WWE vs Smack down!"
"Now THAT'S a gay game! You watch 2 muscular sweaty men in underpants touch each other!"
I then turned back to my friend and kept listening to him play piano.

Is the constant stream of crap that kids think constitutes a brilliant game destroying their fragile young minds? Surely there are some of you out there who know people like this or know of young gamers who know a crap game from a good one?

They didn't grow up with those games, you can't expect them to have the same impact on some kid now as they did to kids when they were first released.

There's nothing wrong with the WWE games (aside from them getting released every year), they're fun little time wasters.

WWE vs Smackdown is actually a pretty fun game, there is a lot you can do in it.

Granted Legend Of Zelda is better. But still. He might just prefer those type of games. I havea friend of plays exclusivley Sports games. And another who just plauys the basketball ones.

They are not uneducated, if any one is, you are, for not realising that they might have a preference towards something.

It's mostly because kids these days didn't grow up with the same games we did. Which is incredibly unfortunate for them. They certainly missed out on many great games.

Nothing wrong with the WWE games, and the kid is entitled to his own opinion. The little kid probably doesn't like game like that.

If you must blame anyone for it then blame the gaming idustry as a whole for not just supplying the same that you like.

Zelda OOT sucks for most people that didn't play it at the time. It's a nostalgia thing. Same goes for FF7 but that's even more down to nostalgia.

You can't say kids are uneducated just because they didn't play some game from before they were even born. It's not like they're going to be taught the history of vidya gaems at school, it's something people learn in their own time if they have an interest in old games. Not having that interest is completely understandable though.

Sorry, I have to agree with the others. You do seem to be forcing your opinion on the kid. Having said that, however, he was in the wrong too (by how you described events) as he wasn't giving a legitimate reason as to why it was "gay".
