I'm not a fan, but a good beat goes a long way with me. I'm also a big fan of rap/rock when it's done correctly.

Outkast has some pretty good stuff that sort of combines hip-hop, rock, and electronic.
Also they semi-predicted the Iraq War.

Hollywood Undead is a pretty heavy stereotype rap band(bitches, money, drugs etc) but I actually like them. They have some serious songs like Black Dahlia which is amazingly emo lyrics. They also have a drummer and guitarist and bassist. Which makes them more respectable.

'I wish I could I could have quit you
I wish I never missed you,
And told you that I loved you,
everytime I f**ked you
The future that we both drew,
and all the shit we've been through
Obsessed with the thought of you,
the pain just grew and grew!
How could you do this to me?
Look at what I made for you,
it never was enough
and the world is what I gave to you
I used to be love struck;
now I'm just f**ked up
Pull up my sleeves and see
the pattern of my cuts!'

I like trip-hop (does that count as hip-hop? Never really understood the differences).

Massive Attack's great. The Gorillaz also have some really great tunes.

I like Blackalicious as well. He's definitely got a vocabulary.

Unfortunately, people focus on people like Wayne and 50 when it comes to judging rap as genre instead of the ones that actually rhyme about life and things that matter.

Let me introduce you to Atmosphere.

I like it.

I really enjoy Saul Williams, Aesop Rock, The Roots, Optimus Rhyme, and The Coup.

Common is pretty good at times. Look up "Be". It's an short-but-great song, if a bit religious.

Oh deary me, is that a challenge? Shoot, I swear I'll be truthful on whether or not I've heard of them.
