My music collection is mostly comprised of rap, but I doubt anyone will have heard of the rappers I listen to.

Oh deary me, is that a challenge? Shoot, I swear I'll be truthful on whether or not I've heard of them.

I figure you'd know a few. In your last.fm thing on your profile, you already have one of them, Ras Kass. But for shits and giggles, I'll go through my music collection.

I know of Crooked I because he's part of the Slaughterhouse supergroup, who I love right now. Tech N9ne, Keak Da Sneak and a few others but...are some of those local artists? I'm interested now...

Perhaps I should post some London based artists sometime.

There are only 2 local rappers on the list: DMG, who is part of Scarface's group Facemob, and I Self Divine. The rest are mainly from California, a couple from the midwest, and one Canadian.

You'd probably like Aceyalone, Frontline, Sly Boogy, and Zion I at least. Most of the others make pretty gangsta music, if you're into that sort of stuff.

And please post some London artists. I can't imagine Lady Sovereign is a fair representation of the hip-hop scene out there, and she's pretty much the only UK artist I've heard.

Hip hop (more so than rap) is very prominent in the dance world. As a result, I love it because of immersion. And loving hip hop is sort of a gateway to enjoying rap.

This. I find Hilltop Hoods good to listen to since they actually write songs about real things, real events and real life, and their lyrics are quite meaningful, which is rare.

Also, The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Drapht, and Butterfingers.

I like some songs from the Flobots. Not your average crappy 'gangsta' rap, and I can appreciate that.

O and one of my vices is liking Snoop Dog every now and then, for the so called 'lulz'. I mean, it's so delightfully over-the-top. Just look at that Sensual Seduction clip, it's so incredibly cheesy and corny.
