(Atleast) the first 20 hours of Final Fantasy 13 (assuming this is about developers being dicks).
The game does its best to piss you off. They start of with 2 hours of completely irrelevant combat, giving no xp and consisting of only one attack move named attack. Also, you have no idea wtf is going on at that point, other than that all the characters (except for lady hero Lightning, who you are apparently supposed to dislike at that point) are amazingly annoying.
After that the developers give you a nice hook: they make the combat kind of addicting. You play for a while, then the game pulls off its next dick move: dual button cutscene skipping. Now I know that it sounds small, but having to skip a cutscene by pausing it and then skipping it really gets on your nerves, especially when they place them before bossfights.
After you get used to that crap, the game is a linear tube for the next 15 hours or so. Its really addicting to play it, because you can't get lost or fail at your average fights. You fall into a coma. Until...
ULTRA DICKMOVE TIME! How does a boss with an instakill move sound like? Bad. How does a boss with an undodgable instakill move sound like. Horrible. How does a boss that learns an undodgable instakill move 15 minutes into the bossfight, without any checkpoints, sound like? Undiscrabably horrible bullshit.
