Ranking has nothing to say on my list, I love them all equally

1) Left 4 Dead: I love zombies and I love slaying 'em. Plus, you can be zombies too which is ultimate awesome!

2) Halo 3: I wasn't really into the whole haloseries, but after a friend of mine forced me to play through 1 & 2 (which are awesome as well) I fell in love with the series and bought a 360 mostly because of Halo 3

3) Dead Rising: As said earlier on, I love slaying me some zombies, and this is the game that does it exactly right!

4) GTA San Andreas: I didn't like nr 4 that much really, San Andreas was a much more fun game, with the ability to make your character stronger, plus, learn different fightingstyles, and it didn't have all the boring realism that GTA4 insists on having

5) Saints Row 2: Co-Op with a friend, get to the airport, steal two planes, one jumps out in midair, the other tries to catch him = hours of fun. Plus, this game is so realistic and still not at all and includes the best weapon ever... that's right, the pimpslap!

6) Resident Evil 4: My favorite character from the RE series back to kick some ass? bring it on! Second best game of the series!

7) Thief 2: Sneaking, stealing, killing guards, in a middleage setting? I'm sold!

8) TMNT IV: Turtles in time: Is an explanation really needed? You play as one of the four kickass turtles, kick some ass, then some more in Co-Op!

9) Sonic The Hedgehog 2: Speed, platforming, colourful worlds, a mascot thats not mario? I'm in. I've always loved the little blue hedgehog, and refuse to see any of the new games as sonicgames, more like The adventures of bonic, sonics retarded cousin

10) That's it? I'm done with my list already? no way... ah well, for my nr 10: Silent Hill 2. Subtle and freakishly scary, has led to me so scared that I've jumped at my console to turn it off and make it all go away. beautiful when I actually dare to play it though^^

Spore, Runescape...Really?!
I was thinking that too at some point, lol.
I don't think I could ever understand how 'Spore' could be a top ten favourite?
However, the creature creator is fun.

In the order they occur to me:

1. Deus Ex (Best. RPG. Ever.)
2. Counterstrike (first online FPS I was truly addicted to, stuck with me way longer than Half-Life)
3. Battlefield 2 (the best online FPS I've been addicted to)
4. Rock Band (fun with friends)
5. Football Manager 06 to present, including Live (destroyed my life)
6. Homeworld (beautiful strategy title, lovely atmosphere)
7. GTA: San Andreas (giant sandbox fun, hugely immersive, sly humour)
8. Super Puzzle Fighter (perfect 'random night in with mates' game)
9. X-Wing v. TIE Fighter (childhood classic)
10. The whole Total War series but Rome: Total War's probably my favourite. (History. Bloody battles. Tactics. Strategy. Diplomacy. A wee bit of resource management. Varied levels of challenge. Perfect)

Honourable mentions to: Metal Gear Solid, God Of War, Starcraft, Freelancer, EVE Online, Yohoho! Puzzle Pirates, Need For Speed Underground, Galactic Civilisations 2, Grim Fandango, Doom II and Psychonauts. Good effort lads but I just didn't love you enough.

8. Xenogears: A great story. And Citan.

My ten favourite games, in no specific order, all on the PC except for Mega Man 2 (NES):

Half life 2: Great gameplay and very immersive.

Neverwinter Nights: Also splendid gameplay, the first RPG I tried and loved.

Unreal Tournament 2004: I have 1,249 hours of registered gameplay on Xfire and many many more outside, that should say enough.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic: Click flurry, click enemy -> *zmmmswoeshbzz* (lightsaber sound), squishy enemy.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Shadow of Chernobyl: Almost everything I want in a survival shooter.

Homeworld 2: One of it's kind, nearly the perfect space RTS.

Carmageddon II - Carpocalypse Now!: *splash*

Medieval II Total War: Cavalry, CHARGEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mega Man II: The best game music ever! Gameplay was great to, but I still listen to the music!

The Curse of Monkey Island: I don't even know if I finished this game, but it's truly the most iconic game ever I think.

Honourable mentions: Mass Effect, Supreme Commander, Total Annihilation, Myst series, Assassin's Creed, Unreal Tournament, Mirror's Edge, F.E.A.R., Age of Empires, Duke Nukem 3D, Worms World Party, Crusader no Remorse/Regret, Terminal Velocity, Red Alert 1, oh damn please don't make me say Pokémon! Please no *cringes in pain* OK OK F*CK yes Pokémon blue or red or green or yellow...
It was rather hard to choose as you might imagine.

No particular order:

THPS3: I had SOOO much fun with this game, and it stands out to me as the best THPS game ever, and given the direction the series has taken, I doubt I'll ever have as much fun with a skating game again. Great soundtrack, easy but satisfying combos, and easy to pick up and jump into.

Phantasy Star 2-4: I didn't mention 1 simply because I've played so little of it, but I think this is a series that really got pushed away by other series like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. It had good graphics, a good story, and a decent RPG battle engine.

Halo 2: I view this as the best in the series, especially in terms of multiplayer. Even though it wasn't the most balanced gameplay at times, the maps really helped it out in my opinion. I felt they had more variety and were better suited for MP than they were in Halo 3, and I'm surprised more people haven't complained about the fact that many of the maps in Halo 3 just plain suck.

Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition: This game will likely be the reason that I end up not liking RE5.

TMNT Arcade: Classic mindless beat-em-up game.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 for PSX: I view this as the best of the SF games. It had a huge array of characters, unlockables, and ways to modify your character with different fighting styles and even attribute modifications. I mention the PSX version because that was the one I had and it had a few noteable extras that weren't in the Arcade and I don't think were in the Dreamcast version.

The Legend of Zelda: Self-explanatory.

Duke Nukem 3d: First game that really introduced me to online FPS fun. Too bad they had to stop the beta test of the TEN Network and actually try to make that thing called a PROFIT..

Super Mario World: Great platforming, colorful graphics, and went above and beyond the sort of game that one would have expected to be bundled with a gaming system (remember when game bundling used to be considered STANDARD???)

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City: Again, I viewed this as the best game of the series, even though it has been exceeded by later iterations. I felt that this was the best in that it didn't overload the user with side quests and customization like San Andreas did, nor did it overload us with realism and dealing with family and friends like GTA4 did. Great soundtrack (for the era), stellar voice acting, good story, and still a good emphasis on wanton destruction.

Notables:

Gears of War 2
RTCW (Xbox Edition)
RE 2
MK2
Unreal 2004
Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete

1. Planescape: Torment.
2. Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura.
3. Thief 1 and 2 (they're similar enough)
4. Xenogears
5. Dwarf Fortress
6. Age of Wonders
7. Final Fantasy Tactics
8. No One Lives Forever 2
9. Okami
10. Dungeon Keeper 2

Pretty much all of Blizzard's games after Warcraft 2 I find to be solid, but uninspirational. There's also an inverse correlation between how much I've played them and how much I actually like them, strangely enough.

Silent Hill 2
MGS 1 (still a classic and the best in the series)
Resident Evil 4
