I've run out of hate for aim assist. I just get depressed now. It started with CoD, where I learned that it's permanent and I could only go AVGN and say "what were they THINKING!?" Aim assist is unintuitive, I notice it every time I aim at something, so it DESTROYS any and all immersion and I aim better without it. (Do not try to dispute this, I know that one of you will try) Then I found it in Mass Effect 2. Then I started banging my head against a wall saying "why are you people such goddamn morons!?" Then I tried the Uncharted 2 demo and there it was again. All I could say was "Oh for fucks sake" and immediately went to something else. Now cut to now, when I got BF3 on PC. (This was one of my first games on PC) worked around and got my PS3 controller to work with it (Thank you MotionInJoy) and found... Wait for it... PERMANENT FUCKING AIM ASSIST. (Now this I REALLY didn't get, I played the beta on PS3 and it didn't have aim assist, yet it did on PC with a gamepad? What sense does that make?) Then I gave up and am now considering melting the disk on video (along with that copy of MW2 that's sitting at the bottom of my games stack because It's a trade in and I can't trade in a trade in) in protest and sending the video to DICE (and IW) and posting it on youtube. Clearly people are going to keep doing this and I REALLY will not stand for it. I don't know, I might need one more game doing this to push me over the edge.
TL;DR Aim assist is the bane of immersion and I hate ever developer that makes it permanent.
Oh, and a second one for the hell of it.
I don't like RPGs because they're too open. Yeah. I just said that. They're too open, keeping the Dev team from putting a decent amount of polish onto the whole thing and it shows. Every. Single. Time. I've played two RPGs that aren't just action games with RPG elements. ME2 and Fallout three. I think that both of them are crap. Fallout 3 had no immersion and ME2 was so painfully mediocre that it fell below mediocre and became crap. I prefer my games more linear, like Deus Ex 3. It was an action game with RPG elements. It was good, but it still showed the same symptoms. Stealth worked, but wasn't great. Shooting worked, but wasn't great. Hacking... Okay hacking was great and conversation bosses felt really tense (though the upgrade for it ruined it, as it simply TOLD you what to do), but the game in a nutshell was "good, but not quite great."
Okay, Flash shield: Activate. Also, this might have some discussion value, but I know that It'd turn into not so much as a flame war as a flaming drive-by shooting. All of you against a lone man,
TL;DR read the damn post.
EDIT: wow, 500 words. I really can write the shit out of stuff I'm interested in.
