I wouldn't say that was a jab at you. Just that people will still be wondering that same thing in 100 years. Also, I think that in 100 years (realistically) people would've probably already caused the end of the world...but, if that's not the case, I would say that topics would be about jetpack repair and maintenance, same with the floating cars, posts about people trying to understand alien/synthetic races (not the geth...more like the robots from I, Robot before the whole turning evil bit.) Oh, and people wondering if they should feel guilty for being attracted to their robot. I personally wouldn't care but could imagine some future political scandal about some politician who had relations with a robot. That would be amusing.

If in 100 years, the internet hasn't graduated into a form of hivemind (with an opt-out clause, of course), we're doing it wrong.

If forums, as they currently exist, exist at all in 100 years, we're REALLY doing it wrong.

Somebody will see this post and invent what will become the Matrix.

The only flaw to the matrix is it was forced upon people.

Yeah, but it could theoretically develop self consciousness and refuse to release the player. Other than that minor safety concern, I think the Matrix would be fun.

This is what all the AI alarmists misunderstand. You have to program a program to develop self-awareness.

Why did you have to ruin my little scenario with the facts? It makes for an interesting fantasy...like in I, Robot...that one robot was programmed to have dreams, emotions, etc. Anyways, to counteract your fact (and keep my point alive of that eventually becoming the matrix), I will say that some lonely person could, theoretically, program the system to have emotions, logic, etc and it would then be self-aware and become the Matrix. I believe that's checkmate friend. Good playing with you.
BTW, I'm not an AI alarmist...especially considering that, worse case scenario, it would simply take an EMP or a magnets to "kill" the threat.
