Why expect bullshit and historical inaccuracies? So far, I haven't seen many mistakes in the TWs except for starting positions, and that was for balancing.
I think CA gets less and less accurate the further they go back in time. Screeching women? Wardogs? Warpigs? Gladiator units? Arcani? No. Not good. Unless you can prove that Empire is just as inaccurate in such blatant ways...
They actually did use pigs and dogs. Gladiators? Okay, I'll give you that one. About the others, I don't know. I do doubt that there were women screaming on the battlefield, however the women of the Germanic tribes fought with the dogs when their camps were attacked.

Ancient Egypt: Total War.

Do battle with bronze and stone. Yeah!

We have so many World War II games, but why no love for 3,000 B.C.E.?

As long as they abandon the crappy musket tactics in Napoleon, I'll be happy. I'll be more happy if it's Rome 2: Total War, since I still regularly play the first one. Hopefully the new version will be the same with fewer bugs.

I reckon Persia could be the main focus. Would be interesting, mixed with the Greeks at that time. Those two could always be the other way around. Alexander the Great could be in the mix. At this point, anything is possible.

One of the developers mentioned that:-
"The Creative Assembly will unveil the next title in its strategy series which ?eschews the gunpowder weaponry of recent Total War titles and gets back to basics".

Personally I'm still holding out for a Asian themed one, maybe incorporating China, Japan, Mongolia, India. Plenty of history and battles flowing around those areas, I guess they're just not as well know as European history.
Hm... I actually liked the gunpower era stuff. Hell, I hoped they'd go for more modern guns next. Oh well, we'll see what they do next.

I never played Napoleon(add-ons to TW games usually suck even though the games themselves are great), what crappy musket tactics are you talking about?

Aww I was hoping for a WW1 total war (guess we'll see that at some point though, they've hinted at it before), though I imagine whatever they go with will be brilliant as usual.

Napoleon is the latest in the series, not an addon. But basically, the addition of muskets means that there's effectively only one type of combat. It means that you lose height advantages, flanking is almost pointless, and you hardly have to try to match up units with enemies they'll be effective against because they are all the same.

Hope the clock stops before the invention of iron, both bronze and stone could be fun.

Counting back? As in back in time? Well damn, no American Civil war then. I though that would be a decent era to do, not to mention a logical progression.

Meh.

actually, I think that would be awesome, though maybe have the hittites show up in the late campaign as a horde with iron weapons(they were the first in asia minor to do it).

edit: and OP, if you have't yet, why not put a link?

I'm really hoping for Rome 2, but seeing as how the hourglass is already at 1824, I don't think it's gonna happen, but I would also LOVE to see a twentieth century Total War game

(also, what's with all the countdowns these days?)

I think they should focus on Muslim expansion in their next title, so that's spanning from 630, the founding of Islam to maybe 1400, when Tamerlane's invasion really brings about the downfall of Islamic superiority. Sure, we may all remember that North Africa and the Middle East were major areas of spread, but let's be honest, who else knows of the Ghurids, or the Ghaznavids before them, or the Samanids before them, or the Saffarids before them? Territories in India, the Middle East, North Africa, maybe Spain were changing hands constantly. Islamic areas were highly unstable and extremely rich during this time, which sounds like clear Total War to me.
