It does seem like it's gonna be Shogun, however, Shogun apparently did feature guns, at least that's what I read.sgtshock said:A Haiku talking about an "eastern sun rising" and no guns?HK_01 said:-------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, it's Shogun 2.
16th century, as far as I know.almostgold said:Around when was Shogun supposed to take place at?
From what I know that information is not trustworthy. It just suddenly appeared out of nowhere on some Turkish gaming site(which removed it shortly after) and has since spread all over the web.Kukakkau said:Well they are pretty restricted on eras - since they need to have enough actions and armies that did function as units (World War troops tended to be have little formation and spread over areas)
They could do early China (dynastys and three kingdoms era) - might be difficult to work out though.
I'd love to see Rome remade with more factions and bit of a bigger game map. Although as long as it isn't firearms I'll be happy - they just killed it for me.
EDIT: Just saw the hourglass thing and read an article saying Shogun 2 demo was pencilled in for E3
Hold up! Is that a Haiku?? Could it mean Shogun2??HK_01 said:-------------------------------------------------------

It went like 100 years on the first and second day as far as I know.afiggity said:This is no super-scientific estimate but you'll get the point:
The countdown is dropping about 30 years per day so unless it starts going down more rapidly then it will drop about another 450 years by E3. And 450 years before 1682 (the current countdown as I'm writing this) is right in the beginnings of the shogunates in Japan.
I'm kind of surprised they will return to Shogun after investing so much money and work into developing a sea combat engine, but I'm interested to see what they do. If it is Shogun then I hope they've drastically improved the combat animations or else my samurai will all have to kill themselves because they fight so pathetically.
I'm still hoping for Three Kingdoms China since I think it would be a perfect fit for Total War's gameplay, and like some of you pointed out they did say "Nor will it show guns" which either way you take it should point away from Shogun.
whatever it is, if it doesnt have a million musketeers i will be happy, i still play medieval 2 today cause it doesnt have the guns of empire or napoleonHK_01 said:It made quite a jump to 1638 now. Getting my hopes up that it's not Shogun II again!
