i think i read in game informer that either (due to lack of rememberance)

you are Morrigan's decendant, (i.e: grandson i think)

or that you are not, and they are both fighting differnt battle in the same period of time. (no 200 year differece, like fable series.) after the arch dude got owned.

Even if it's the same thing, surely you would frown upon them basically doing it all over again?
Doing the trailer over?

Nah, they changed enough to make it fresh, even showed flashbacks to Hawk village destruction.

Oh for the love-

It take place over a ten year period starting at the END of DA:O. Hawke is a grown man already.

Morrigans son! That actualy makes a whole lot of sense... so... Hawke might have the soul of an old god? That would play right into him being the most important person in te DA universe.

OT: I have up until now been a bit, displeased, with DA2 but it's nice that bioware has taken the time to think about what they want to do with the story of their fantasy universe. I read quite a lot of the lore in the games codex, from that alone it's easy to tell how much thought BW put into their world. The writing was strong in DA:O; this is i suppose a step BW is taking to increase the expanse of its narrotive and make Thedas (it is Thedas right?) that much richer and deep. Maybe DA3 will return to a more familiar RPG form.

It's not Morrigan baby Bioware already said that the heroe is a survivor of the Blight of DA:O so it can't be Morrigan baby: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/101943-BioWare-Unveils-Dragon-Age-2-UPDATED

Honestly, I'm just disappointed that in twice the amount of time the original's trailer had, it managed to have less substance to it.

And I meant that it had better music, not that I want the second one to be identical, hell, they could've used an Avril Lavigne song for all I care, as long as it sounded good. The music in the second one was utterly generic and forgettable.

Also, if you think that the trailers were, in fact, the same, didn't it bother you that they did the same thing all over again?
To be honest, No.

Both serve only a piece to tell you "LOOK OUT WORLD, HERE I COME!" There wasn't nothing to be there in the first place.

But I did notice something new, Hawk pre design history clash with the Wardens no history, In a way, I feel as I knew hawk LONGER then I knew my warden.

Hawke was a human who life was turn upside down, sure he could fight but that's it. He was a Normal human. who had one orgin.

The warden could have six orgin and over a thousand driffrent ways to begin his life. He was strong and hardly got hurt.

Hawke, got slice open like a turkey in the trailer.

Aw forget it, I'm still excited and I can't controll myself.

personally more i learn more i'm disapointed so far... I love Mass Effect, but i really dont think Dragon Age need to become Mass Fantaisy... There is no need for it. There is place in the market for this kind of RPG

Am I the only one who actually think that this new look they've given the Qunari is better? They're feared all through Thedas due to their military might so it's only fitting with a more intimidating look. And if my memory dosen't fail me it even said in the codex that the Qunari indeed had horns. Besides; Sten in Origins just looked like a tall, bronze skinned human after all.

And seeing as people keep saying Hawke is Morrigan's child I suppose we have to call it out on every page of this thread. No. He's not. Firstly, he's a grown man during the razing of Lothering. And secondly, doing the ritual in origins was one of the major choices in Origins. It would have been underhanded by BioWare to just retcon that.

I for one can not wait for this game. I'm certain I won't be disappointed.

The trailer was pretty nice. I will most likely get Dragon Age 2 and I probably will enjoy it. In my opinion Bioware has always made really good games and I am sure this one will be good as well.

Probably yes... But i have the feeling that it will suffer of a new trend in Bioware... dumping down theyr game to more casual market... They did it with Mass Effect 2 too. Yes Mass Effect 2 is a great game... but the RPG element in it have been greatelly reduced, the character progression have been heavilly simplified... i fear they are doing the same to Dragon Age

Preset character, lavish and gorgeous looking cutscene teasing, but showing no content?

Oh. My. God. It looks like a JRPG.

Seriously though, I hate when games do this, and they do it a lot. Nice looking cutscene that shows nothing from the game, and 99% of the time, isnt in the game at all. If your going to TEASE, atleast give us something to wrap our minds around other then a possessed hero.
Well come on the game is still at least 10 months away from release and to be honest im tired of games tempting me with information in the games, i watched all the stuff for ME2 and couldnt help thinking how much more i would have enjoyed it not knowing or at least not having some idea of what was next
I got DAO without watching any of the promo stuff and enjoyed immensely it tends to be little things that add to the mood, i.e. if you watch DAO trailers than you should know that morrigan would be added to your party the moment you saw her even though that event happens several gameplay hours later

Still can get my head around why they didnt stick with make your characters as it was one of the best selling points. Now it turned into every other bland hero of the land rpg.

I will still get it as i really like the orignal but would have prefered to carry on my characters storyline.
I actually hated having to make my character because I knew no one was going to call me by my name during the game. Everyone in the world knows of your deeds but can't say your name becomes extremely annoying. A preset character is welcomed if the other characters can say his name. I also prefer a preset character with his own world. I hated that I had to share the old game world with every character I made in game. After the first playthrough, the entire game (except for the origin stories) felt like an old shirt that had been worn by someone else. It felt like it was made for someone else and never really fit me like it did the original owner.

Either way, not too thrilled about being "the chosen one" or whatever it is.
Same, I like the Bethesda model, were you can become a great hero or villan, but you don't start off well known or "special". If you want to be a legend you have to earn it. That makes it feel so much more rewarding when you reach the top, because you feel like you started from nothing. Like in Origins were you may be a noble or civilian or whatever but your not a "chosen one". You were just at the right place at the right time. Hopefully they don't play up the whole chosen one to much... (This looks a little to much like Mass Effect, might as well call him Commander Hawke XD)
I especially love it in Oblivion. Your a nobody, you have to work to get noticed. Whether that means saving the king or becoming head of a guild, your working for it. You got lucky, and it feels you got lucky and your not "the chosen one". Its awesome.

Surprised no one mentioned the voice in the trailer is Flemeth's.
Does that mean that the canon story is that you didn't kill her in the first one? I mean, I'm not sure if she completely died, but it would probably take a long time for her to find a suitable person to take over... Unless, maybe you see her only in the early parts of Dragon Age 2 since the stories overlap.

So, far it doesn't seem as crazy extreme powers as I thought it would be from reading the comments. Not close at all to Final Fantasy type levels at all. It does still seem a bit crazy considering how Dragon Age seemed to try to keep the fantasy powers from going to crazy overpowered. I hope the game itself doesn't go any crazier than the trailer though cause even though I like crazy ass fantasy powers, it doesn't seem appropriate to the Dragon Age universe. I'm annoyed there is only one origin and the game does seem like a bit dumbing down, but even if a dumbed down Dragon Age game by Bioware would be fun.
Damnit, I killed Flemeth in the original! I refuse to believe she pulled a fast one on me!

Anyways.. looks fucking amazing. Want a gameplay trailer at some point though. My faith in Bioware is still good and strong.

True, it always feels better to be a legend that came from humble beginnings.

Given that he's "possessed", he's either harboring a demon or he's Morrigan's son. If he's demon-possessed, then it's nothing particularly special. If he's Morrigan's son, he has the soul of a GOD. As an aside, this concept reminds me of Baldur's Gate.
