I stand corrected, not that it'll bother me much personally. The action RPG is a road Bioware's ran up and down for some time now, and they've yet to disappoint me, personally.BloodSquirrel said:Some of us quite liked to the origins. Bioware even apparently thought they were important enough to put them in the title of the first game. But, oh well, Karathos declares that they're not important, so suddenly I don't care about them anymore!Karathos said:Did the origins really make that entire game, or did I miss something?
Yes, actually, it did. Shepard is just some flavor of Shepard, but my Dragon Age character was my character. Also, the dialog wheel never worked as well as actually being able to choose what my character was going to say.Karathos said:Hawke is a preset character, so of course he's human. Shepard was human, and that lack of choice never slowed Mass Effect down.
Karathos said:The tactical combat being out is something I've missed. Don't suppose you have a link to go with that? Because all I've been able to find is "New combat mechanics" (not "removed old").In a translated interview with French gaming magazine Joystick, Dragon Age 2 Lead Designer Mike Laidlaw said the new game won't offer the "Baldur's Gate-style" aerial camera that gave players a commanding view of the battlefield in Origins. "For budgetary reasons, we focused our work on a 3rd person view, that asks for very detailed and nice textures so that the player can admire the game with a close-up view," he said. "With an aerial view we should cover much more ground and so [must] create other textures. Now, the game mainly sold on console, so we're going the way of the audience."
The origins were a selling point, yes, but the game wouldn't have suddenly been crap if they'd dropped that and called it "Dragon Age" (or at least I very much doubt that). I was stating my opinion - there's no need to be petty when responding to it. Or maybe there is, since it's the only way alot of people seem to be able to counter differing opinions these days.
A page late, but I felt I had the right to respond to something directed at me. Night night! \o
