SO THATS WHY shep never used grenades in me 2, not showing ceberus his greatest weapon for fear of betrayal
I was wondering what happened there...

Kinda like all the assault rifles in Halo 2 dissappearing only to return in Halo 3, allowing the chief to finally kick the Covenant's butts for good. Hell yeah.

That was a real crappy trailer honestly. And a heavy mech? Your creativity knows no bounds Bioware.

The animation looked kind of choppy. But I'm really digging the Fiery Butt Slap.

- In stead of randomly spraying bullets at the Mech before you, why don't you just aim for the two layers of glass between your bullets and the pilot?
You can do that.

You can take over the vehicle too.
Then they should have shown that. Sounds like trailer material.

After reading these comments, I've just kind of accepted that BioWare, like so many game companies, has a damn near unpleasable fanbase. What the hell do you guys want in the animations department anyway? The animations in ME1 and 2 were FAR worse than this video, and I thought the chatter added an effect that was far better than the stoic silence most squads in video games go for.

There seems to be confusion on what exactly a trailer is. A trailer gives you a peek at the game, but people seem disappointed it didn't physically drop a controller into their hands and let them play. I mean, come on, it gave you a look at what combat will be like in the game, and frankly I think it looks very good. Better than ME2 at least.

hmm, I hope there is still a space exploration/planet visiting segment in this game. The whole "fight for earth" thing really has me worried.

also, where the rpg elements!!!!!
Well, seeing as you have to rally the other species and they've confirmed that that salarian, turian, and asari haomeworlds are all making a debut, I'd say that the planet visiting segment is still in. As for rpg elements, according to the E3 demo, it's similar to ME2 but greatly enhanced. It's more along the lines of "ok, you chose to upgrade Combat Mastery. Will this affect your Paragon/Renegade score, your weapons damage, your teammates weapon damage, or your teammates abilities duration? Choose one."

EDIT: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-b177U4CKrk&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

E3 Q/A demo. Should answer most of your questions. Enjoy.

I second this.

I think some people are going to hold ME3 to a stupidly high standard that's just impossible to reach.

This was very underwhelming. Originally I was pissed that they pushed back the release to next year, but after seeing this I hope they take the extra time to give the game that extra layer of polish it'll need.

Dude, is this REALLY the first time you've heard of the heavy mechs in this game? That info has been out for awhile. Not to mention these are the second time we've seen a heavy mech in this series. Remember those big robots in ME2?

Though I will give Cerberus credit for actually learning something. They made these mechs controllable from a cockpit. After how many mechs went nuts in the last game I'm honestly impressed they learned from that.

I have to be honest, I'm not as hyped for this game as I was for ME2. But, to be fair, Skyrim has kind of been overshadowing it.

I liked the trailer. I guess I'm the only one =\

Calm down there, ace.

I'm personally looking forward to the game. A lot. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to point out crummy animation when I see it.

Yes, true, the previous games were nothing special in that department. But they didn't have a camera following the squadmates around and going out of its way to highlight just how bad the animations were. This trailer kinda rubbed our faces in it. Which is kinda odd, considering that Shepard and the enemies were animated just fine.

Also, I agree with you regarding the chatter. I like it.

I don't CARE about the shooting bits. I play on easy for a reason. Show me the parts of the game that are actually interesting in a trailer, please.

Can someone explain to me why Shepard is fighting Cerberus in THE WAR TO DEFEND THE EARTH?

Isn't Cerberus the pro-human faction, which was allied to Shepard in 2? You would think the human faction would want to help the human planet.

Took the words out of my mouth. Though for me it is true that any scrap of info I'll greedily devour like a malnourished hobbit. Still sucks it's coming out in March though.
Also, damn if it doesn't seem like many posters say what I was essentially going to put anyway, it's been happening a lot to me here lately.

People, people, please! Calm down, we've seen about a minute and a half of a combat demo, not a synopsis of the entire game, and don't forget it still has seven months of further developement to go. They cut and speeded the trailer up in order to show as much as possible in a short amount of time, the game proper should run a lot smoother.

I actually enjoyed this trailer, I liked the extra effects they added to the biotic and tech powers so that they actually feel powerful, the new omni-blade function looks kickass, that heavy mech (just F.Y.I it's called the Cerberus Atlas) looks great fun to take down, the grenades are making a welcome return, the guns sounded like they had much more punch behind them, and as for the lighting levels, this was one map in what looks like an under-city, how well-lit is it supposed to be? Let's have a bit more balance here, see if you can think of some things you saw that you liked, and not just go for the "Yahtzee review of Mindjack" approach, because this game DOES have stuff to recommend to it.

I liked it! Its nice to see the characters talking to each other during battles. As long as its not overused too much, then it won't become annoying as the game goes on. Also seemed the lighting was better? Can't really tell since its been a while since I played ME2. And while I guess the animations look kind of weird, I don't really look at my squad mates too much since I'm always busy shooting the enemy. Still though, they look better than in the previous games. Though I do think that cutting away every 6 seconds or so was a bit much.

Don't see why people are so worried about it. It looked cleaner and smoother than ME2's game play, and that was a vast improvement over ME1. And this was just basic game play! Can't wait for when they will (probably) show off the class skills and whatnot.

I feel there's something off about their static expressions. Not once do we see any of the characters talking, it cuts to them only after they've spoken. Not the best trailer I've seen, all in all, though I have nothing against the gameplay shown.

There's a short comic series that explains a bit as to why this would happen. Not wanting to spoil much here, but
there's a reason as to why the Illusive Man's eyes have that distinctive look.

Not to mention, depending on which ending you pick at the end of ME 2, Cerberus could either
A: be angry that you destroyed the collector ship despite their direct orders and hijacked both their ship and their crew, or
B: They became indoctrinated while working within the collector vessel.

Erm...huh? Would you prefer they just throw a montage of cutscene's together? Show a minute and a half of menus? Seriously, your comment confuses me, considering the whole point of this trailer was to showcase gameplay and your squad working as a team.

OT: I kinda liked it. Looks like ME2, with some more stuff added, and that's pretty much exactly what I wanted. Garrus and Liara's animations looked a bit iffy, but it is coming out in March, not like they don't have time to work on that sort of thing.

Wow, they've made mass effect 2. What an accomplishment.

I expect amazing Bioware storytelling explain to me why he's fighting Cerberus, which is doing everything in it's power to defend humanity from the reapers.
