A) I'd love to see more Harley X Ivy
B) Young Freeze looks like the main character from Disney's 'Filmore' XD

"Set it in high school!"

Sounds pretty uncreative. What's next? Batman Babies?
You haven't seen Krypto the Super Dog have you?

OT: One: I was wondering who that guy on the far left was. And then I noticed that his face was covered in clay. *groan*

Two: So in a Japanese anime* you usually see the male protagonist grouped up with a bunch of girls (i.e. Clannad Maburaho, Comic Party). This time we see the male protagonist grouped up with a bunch of villains.

*Mind you when I say "Japanese anime" I'm talking about the ones targeted towards males.

Three: I can see high school life working for Spectacular Spider-Man, and X-Men on account that they both started in high school. I think Bruce was still in training at this time. Now that I think about it, it would be kind of cool if they had an animated series where Bruce Wayne was traveling around the world training and solving social injustices (hunger, poverty & crime).

I know Warner bros (distributor of the last several batman animated series) really want a new way to rehash the early 90s classic show that spawned the DC animated universe. I wasn't impressed by the last few attempts but i know a few fans who were able to endure it and even appreciate it - but this is just plain ridiculous.
Well what about Brave and the Bold? It?s actually a good show and is more representative of the DC universe. It honours the silly and campy elements that have been a part of its characters for years and frankly is a welcome break from the same old grit schtick.
I think you said what needed to be said about that show as well as it's direction - it treated it's reference material better than this scrapped project.

While I may have not enjoyed the newer iterations, this just means I can't appreciate it in the same way as the fans who supported it. Batman is just too incredible a character that you can fit him into several plotlines and make it entertaining - nearly all the character's history reflects that.

So Warner bros, looking for that new way to bring him back as big as he was in the early 90s TV, is looking for that new formula that can stand on it's own and take elements that made the other Batman incarnations popular which obviously this iteration would have missed sorely.

I believe this project was replaced with Batman Beyond. If I am right, I am doubly glad Batman was not reduced to whining about the prom.
Oh god, are you serious? Thank goodness... Batman Beyond wasn't half bad. Having that replaced with.... 'this', would've been a monstrosity imo.

Since the class photo says "Class of 2009" and batman beyond began in 1999 I'm going to go ahead and say no.
Oh wai...n/m

If it had been a Clone High-style parody of the characters, then I could see it being pretty good. Otherwise, probably not.

This could have worked if they'd called it 'The Daria Knight'.

Really though, aren't there enough of these high school cartoon shows as it is?

Definitely would have watched a few episodes just to see how they did it.

Also, group photo from left to right: Clay-Face, Two-Face, Penguin, Killer Croc, Riddler, Batgirl/Batwoman/Robin/Oracle (depending on who it's referring to), Batman, Scarecrow, Catwoman, Joker, Harley, Poison Ivy, Bane, Mr. Freeze.
Riddler! Of course! I had all the other pinned after getting a closer look at that photo (seeing the arms for Clay-Face and the strange shading for Two=Face), but not the geeky guy with glasses. it seems so obvious now...
It also helps that they listed them from left to right on the picture. In text.

This is the third time I've come across an article on Gotham High and each time I see this art work I think to myself what could have been // Yes it would have been a step in the whimsical direction for characters that come from very dark backgrounds but being a huge Batman the animated series fan I would love to have seen another cartoon brought to the small screen

As an addition to the franchise it would be a terrible idea. But as a show, it could work. You just have to forget everything about the Batman universe, or at least be able to see a different spin on it. Joker would just be the goth kid that enjoys the misfortune of others, and helps see it happen. The girls are just emotional teens with ways to express their problems into superpowers/catwoman. Bane and croc? Bullies, with a thin thread of backstory to make them likeable. Penguin, Freeze and some of the others are obvious geeks with brains, and a lust for revenge. Bruce Wayne is the popular boy who seems dense but actually tries to keep the place at peace, but in secret. It fits perfectly into this setting, if you ask me.

As a show, it would work. It could be fun. But part of the franchise? No.

I probably would have watched this show even if it was terrible which it would probably destined to be.

Nobody likes high school dramas seems like better explanation for the cancellation to me. Remember X-Men: Evolution? This is the DC version.

I would have watched this. It looks like it had a lot of potential. All they would have to do is keep the personalities relatively intact (and of course put a "teenage" spin on them) and BAM awesome show with potential for greatness. I'm not sure what I would have preferred... this or The Batman. Hm.

Hmmm.... Barbara Gordon (I think) as a love interest for Bruce Wayne... Despite being roughly 20 years his junior... Not sure that particular aspect would work, but the artwork is very good, along with a very interesting idea.

Not sure about Harvey Dent already being scarred, though.. Just doesn't translate well.

Or Croc... If they'd shown him more as the human Waylon Jones gradually succumbing to the rare condition he has (epidermatlytic hypercuratosis, I believe)... but fully fledged Croc? Not so sure.

Interesting 'What if' material, though.
