Flushing slightly, Remy excuses himself from the young lady's attentions, mumbling about needing to settle himself in his room as he skitters away towards the elevator. "Oh, but she was so pretty..."a soft voice within his head coos.

"Hmph." He snorted quietly to himself, alarming the elderly woman squeezing in the tiny elevator with him. "Oh please. I've more important things on my hands than women."

Ding
"I've got people to save."

Ding

"A life to build."

Ding

"No time for women... even pretty ones like that."
As he slowly returns to the realm of active perception, Remy realizes his feet have taken him straight to the doormat of his room. With a sigh, he pulls the key from his pocket, opens the door, and steps in.

Shutting the door behind him, Remy dropped his medical bag and suitcase against the wall and flopped down on the bed. Pushing his hair out of his eyes, he stares at the unpowered television screen blankly, his mind wandering as the sun's last vestiges of light pierce his windows.

Pierre sat in the restaurant and fumed. That Chef! He had no idea, he really did! Just because the ?new French waiter? hadn?t had a day of formal cooking education, he thought he was an idiot. And the fat man seemed to think he was a klutz as well, with all those snide remarks about spilling soup and dropping cakes?

Still, Pierre had a job to do, and it paid well, all things considered, and he would stick to it until he had his chance. Oh, yes, to see the fat man?s face when he discovered his precious book, his diary of cookery, missing! That would be amazing. Not that he could be there, unfortunately. He?d have to be long gone to escape the Chef?s wrath.

In the mean time, he would clear tables, and wipe tables, and serve tables, and be quite polite, even when the fat chef told him to ?be careful with the cheese?. He was patient. He could wait.

Movement from area to area takes one turn, and all actions must be deferred to the next round. Each wing of rooms is an area, the elevators and stairwell are each an area. The lobby, restaurant, and banquet room are separate areas. The basement is divided into two areas, mechanicals and storage. The storage area is connected to the service elevator and the mechanical room is adjacent to the stairwell. They are separated by a wall and a firedoor. The firedoor opens into the mechanical room.

The rooms themselves are number in a clockwise fashion, starting from the left of the elevator, circling around to the opposite wall, and then returning to the elevator on the right. So the first room to the left of the elevator on the second floor will be room 201 and the room immediately to the right would be 214. Please let me know what rooms you are in so I can map you out.

I will put together a map for the players that we can post to the thread.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Erm. I suppose (by counting the random number of elevator dings I made), Remy's on floor four, and I decree that he be in room 404.

The squeak of unoiled metal wheels pierced the room. The curtains flapped in an undeciferable rythm. The man in the wheelchair rolled towards the source of the draft. Shutting the window, he slowly rotated his chair so he faced inwards, towards the bed. The room was sparesly furnished, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a bed. Wilson sighed, rolling himself towards the picture he had placed on the chest of drawers when he unpacked. It showed a younger version of himself, with his granddaughter sitting on his knee. His face crinkled in a smile, and he picked it up, stroking the glass. He wished that their flight from America hadn't been delayed; they would have been here already. As it was, he had nothing to do but wait in his room, wait in his room and hope that the next flight was sometime soon.

The sound of wheels rolling noisily on asphalt suddenly gave way to the sound of of wood popping off he ground. The cause, a skateboard that had seen plenty of use, and it's owner who now stood with said board in his hand as he scoped out the entrance to the hotel. Decent place it looked like to him, hopefully no police were around. Patting himself down he finally found a wallet on him. Just enough for a night stay, maybe two if he really wanted to stretch it.

He walked into the lobby, his very baggy pants and their tattered ends scrapping against the floor accompanied by the absent minded flicking open of a black zippo in Eckys hand. His disheveled dirty blond hair fell past his shoulders and resembled a rats nest, along side a white tee, he looked the picturesque image of a juvenile delinquent. After a short argument with the clerk he finally managed to book a room after they accepted his library card as a valid ID. He now was the owner of room 207 for a night.

He entered the elevator and slouched against the back wall of it, still playing with the lighter he had. All he needed to do was get some grub and a nights sleep before he burn this place to the ground. But first, to find his room.

A swirling wind breezed through room 209 with the crooked 9 as Kaze let out a deep sigh. The curtains rippled, and the hair of the girl behind him in the bed flowed into her vision. She shivered slightly where she sat and put a hand on Kaze's back to signal him back to bed, but he was mostly dressed and laid down on top of the quilt, staring into the ceiling.

He hated this moment most of all. He never knew what to say, and yet there was so much he wanted to say. Looking at the clock on the wall, midnight was soon upon them.

"Go to sleep", he told her. There was a silent plea in her eyes that she could not hold back, and did not wish to show, as he got up and proceeded to leave the room, but he didn't look at her. He didn't see it..

He left the keys on a cupboard, closed the door behind him and went to the middle of the hallway to call the elevator down. The building creaked with unnatural sounds, but he was lost in his mind. Going down to the first floor, he strode towards the exit. The receptionist didn't notice him as he pushed the door and got out into the mild night.

Stars covered the pitch-black sky, and he simply stood there for a while with his hands in his pockets, gazing into the distant. They always seemed to calm him. He, and all his qualms, seemed so utterly insignificant before them. And there was the moon, almost full. It spread its sharp yet soft light to every corner of the landscape, offering little shelter from what it laid bare in all the places of the cold night. Kaze drew strength from this, this... whatever it was that the moon exuded. Its aura empowered him, and his mind was equilibrious when he was showered in its light. At least for a while, there was refuge from the uncertainty.

He lowered his head after a few minutes, turned and made his way back to his room. His bed was unmade, and the room was still and empty. He removed his shirt and dropped down to the floor to do some push-ups and sit-ups, after which he removed his pants and got into the bed. It was lukewarm, and a faint, almost sweet scent made him twitch and clench his fists. This would be another sleepless night.

It was about mid-afternoon when an average looking taxi pulled up to the front of the hotel and came to a halt at the front entrance. The back door of the cab opened and out stepped a man who looked unmistakably like a soldier to anyone who was looking, mainly due to the camouflage uniform that he wore. Someone who knew at bit more about the military would have noted that he was a marine due to the fact that the uniform utilized the MARPAT camouflage pattern, and sported the Eagle, Globe and Anchor. He quickly pulled a rucksack from the backseat and walked around to the driver's window. After tipping the driver and watching the cab drive away, Corporal James Larsen turned to look up at the hotel where he would be staying for the evening. It was a fairly small building by most standards, and did not really keep his interest for long. He grinned as he proceeded to walk inside and up to the front desk. Tomorrow he would finally reach the resort that he was going to for his week of vacation, and he could not wait to get back on the road again the following day.

After receiving his room key, and taking a moment to stop and flirt with the young lady who was standing in the lobby waiting for her friend to get down from their room, James headed for the elevator and pushed the button for the 5th floor. He had always liked staying on the top floor of the a building, as it was the safest place to be should the building fall. Being a combat engineer for four years had taught him to think of situations from a tactical perspective and this was especially true when it came to a building he was staying in.

As the elevator arrived on the 5th floor, James looked around for the arrows that pointed to which rooms were which. After seeing that his room was to the left, he quickly arrived at room 402 and opened the door using the key card. As he entered the darkened room, James turned on the lights and looked around, inspecting the rooms contents. It wasn't anything special, a queen sized bed, tv, the usual half kitchen, and furnishings that one might expect to find in a hotel room. He tossed his rucksack on the floor and fell backwards onto the bed as the door closed behind him. He was tired after a long day of travel and wanted to take a nap before looking for somewhere to get dinner.

Joseph walked into his room. Heaving his luggage on the floor, he wondered what this new chapter of his life would bring him. Walking to the bed, he patted down the sheets. After this was down, he examined the button of the bed for explosives. Never can be too careful. After all, some of his past might decide to follow him. He had never felt quite safe after he was chased out of California.

He sat on the floor, his back on the wall in a position where he could see both door and window. Then he began his meditation. He knew, as a psychologist, that some of his fears were irrational and shouldn't have been bothering him here, but yet, here they came.

Several hours later, he opened his bag. Out of it he pulled a picture, along with a folder of manuscript paper*. After gazing at the picture for what seemed like an eternity, he dropped it back in the bag. Taking the folder to the small table, he opened it. The top of the manuscript read "Dreams".

Joseph still didn't know why he had kept all of the music she'd written before she was killed, but had no heart to play it. In his mind they were the most beautiful songs in existence. In reluctance, he set the folder aside and went to his bed. In glancing at a newspaper on the nightstand, he half-glimpsed the headline "MS-13 Memebers Sighted Nearby"

He decided that he would find a gun shop in the morning.

*manuscript is the paper used to write rough drafts of songs.*

berethond - 313 it is.

Abako, I'm putting you in room 402 instead because there's only 4 floors of rooms and then the lobby level which has no rooms in it.

So here's your basic info:

The hotel is quite modest in size with the main lobby large enough to hold a decent-size family gathering for check-in. The front desk is in the middle of the lobby, to the right of the front desk is the entrance to the hotel restaurant, behind the front desk are the double-doors leading into the banquet room, and the elevator doors

Above are the four floors of guest rooms.
The way this describes would make it 5 floors but 402 is cool with me if you only wanted it to have 4. I am just pointing it out so your aware.

Yes, there are 5 floors total, but only 4 floors of rooms, because there are no guest rooms on the ground floor. Hotels generally start counting floors at the first floor of rooms, not at the first floor construction-wise, so when you get in the elevator on the ground floor, it will indicatate that you are on the "L" (for lobby) floor, and then you have to push the "1" button to go up to the first floor of rooms. So room 101 is technically on the second floor of many hotels, and room 402 is technically on the fifth floor. This was how they handled floor and room numbering at the last two hotels I stayed at, and those two hotels are the model for the hotel in the RP.

Vwosh... vwosh... vwosh...

The ceiling fan spun slowly above the bed, disturbing the air throughout the modest hotel room and lowering the temperature a few degrees to a pleasant 27. Alex starred at the ceiling fan, his thoughts on matters in the incoming future. On the purpose of this journey, on the people he would meet and most importantly on a strategy to overcome it. Many times he had stared at a ceiling fan, thinking about the future, too many times maybe. So many times now that the only way for him to think of any plan was to stare at a ceiling fan. There was something about the rhythmic turning that opened the mind and stimulated a man?s thoughts. They always helped him think, always given him some small amount inspiration that would make the future that little bit more clear, that little bit safer. He joked to himself whenever he first entered a hotel room that if he one day decided to stay at a hotel without a ceiling fan he would soon be dead He always made sure they had a ceiling fan.

Vwosh... vwosh... buzz... buzz...

He sighed and reached over for the phone on the bed stand. He clicked the receiver and winced.

"Yes, my flight went very well, no problems at all." A pause. "Yes. No. No. Yes. No. Yes. Yes. I did that already. Yes. No." He winched again. "I'm sorry I meant Yes, I have the present for little... Jeremy". He winched. "I'm sorry James, I meant James. Yes. It's a toy gun, a plastic rev-". He winched again, his head started to ache, the women?s screech was starting to kill him. "I'm sorry" he said when the lady on the phone had stopped yelling "I thought that a little boy would enjoy a little gun. No? No toy guns for your child, ehh James? Unhealthy? I understand. No. No. I don't want him to grow into a murderer. Me? No I've never fired a weapon in my life. No. No. Yes you are right. I'm sorry to have been so thoughtless. Yes, I will pick up another toy in the morning. A book, yes I can get him a book, famous Russian literature perhaps? No, Harry Potter, fine then. Yes. No. No. Yes. I've heard it's a wonderful place. Okay then I'll see you there soon. Okay Bye. Bye."

He hung up, sighed and threw his head back against the pillow. His niece apparently, to a brother he never met. Äåðüìî êîðîâû. He hated that woman. Ever since they had met she had given him nothing but trouble. Why had he even bothered to come to this place? To get out of the house for awhile he supposed. He had no servant and the place was starting to get filthy. Maybe he could withdraw some money and buy a ticket to the Caribbean. That would be nice.

He got off the bed and made himself a glass of water. While drinking from glass he spied the toy gun sitting on the top of his luggage. "If only you where real little toy, then I wouldn't have to endure tomorrow".

are you still going to be in the Mechanicals room in the middle of the night? And it's called the Mechanicals room because the HVAC, elevator, and electicals are down there too, in addition to the hot water heater, not because I wanted to be fancy or anything.

I'm going to assign rooms to the rest of you.
Khedive/Gulliver - 109
Revenent/Matthew - 102
Clairaudient/Paxton - 410
lincholewy/Rafael - 105
rogueshadows/Pierre - still in the restaurant, sulking ;)
There is a fire extinguisher and fire alarm just to the left of the guest elevator on each floor. Every room has a little mini-fridge with alcohol and snacks in it, and a little 2-cup coffee maker which is mounted onto the wall so you can't steal it, er, I mean, put it in your suitcase and take it home for a souvenir.

There is a small bar in the restaurant, a counter off to the side with four barstools in front of it.

I've worked as a restaurant cook, so I'm quite familiar with the insides of large commercial kitchens and the general workings of hotel service, so if you have questions, let me know.

Yes, it does! This first round is pretty simple. The hotel guests are nestled all snug in their beds, while Spartan/Jim Halcoy works on making sure you have hot showers in the morning, and rogueshadows/Pierre is in the restaurant. This will be our first turn. Remember that moving from one area to another consumes a turn, so you don't get an action that turn. Moving within an area is no big deal, you can take an action that turn.

You notice that the basement seems rather warm and muggy. There is an odd smell like cross between moldy, meaty smell in the air. It is pretty faint, though.
There are quite a few flies in the restaurant. The lights are out in the restaurant, and the lights have been dimmed in the lobby. You may hear footsteps in the lobby, but those are probably just guests or other staff.
You may hear footsteps in the hall, but those are probably just staff or other guests. The lights in the hallways are all on but are not particularly bright.
