It's not just females.
Vampires are fucking awesome, because they're violent, blood-hungry monsters.

Pop quiz: What's better than immortality?
Answer: Immortality plus a good reason to never go outside during the day, a random assortment of powers (usually super-strength/healing/speed,) and an excellent excuse to slaughter millions over your lifetime.

And Cedric isn't so bad, man.
i'm not sure who cedric is, but beautifully said.

anyway, before i try watching this show, i have to ask... is it just blood, or do they show vital organs and things like that? because while i can stand blood, that sort of thing makes me feel ill.

As a comedy, it's painfully funny to the point where you have to switch it off and take breaks, due to the hilarious dialogue.

As anything else, it's a painfully bad comedy act.

Little-known fact: When Cedric was killed, he became a motherfucking vampire
ah, no wonder. i've never payed much attention to either of those, so it's not surprising i didn't know.

True blood is what I was tricked into believing Twilight was before the internet hate machine became aware of its existence. Where was my warning people!?

True blood is an entertaining show if a little predictable.

Omg, I love True Blood. It's fascinating plot and sub plots are so entertaining, the depths of the characters are fantastic and I just love the whole premise. It's not like that Twilight crap, the vampires are still SCARY as well as having a romantic edge. I mean, throughout the first season I didn't know whether Bill was going to rip Sookie's throat out or not, at any given moment.
I love the Eric/Sookie thing Charlaine Harris explores in the books and, although Godric's death is completely different, I still found it as moving in the book as in the TV show (saw the show first).

Although I don't enjoy Twilight and think it's romanticism of an abusive relationship is severely damaging for the young girls who read it, I have to thank it because I think it goes some way towards helping to make things like True Blood as popular as it is.

Having said that, don't watch Vampire Diaries. Just...no.

Long post, I know, but just one more thing...what is this whole thing about Anna Paquin? A lot of people seem to find her annoying. Personally, I think she's perfect for playing Sookie (although, reading the books after seeing the show, I didn't picture Paquin as I read), but I like to understand both sides of an argument, regardless of which I agree with. Why do so many people see her in a negative light within True Blood?

I think the first season was much weaker than the second. The crew seemed enthralled with the fact that they could have as much sex as they wanted without censors having conniptions, so every other seen was gratuitous nakedness. Annoying. But during the second season they actually found a strong plot, let the characters develop a little bit, and stayed out of the bedroom for more than five minutes at a time. And this time, when sex was included, it actually furthered the plot/characters instead of just serving to titillate 14 year old boys. So I liked season 2, and I'll be interested in seeing where the third season goes.

OKAY now I revived this dead topic. And Season three is only a few weeks away, how about we all show some excitement and have a conversation about what direction it's going to take.

Main hope- Good werewolves. They've been mentioned, perhaps they'll show up?

It's the anti-Twilight, in that every character seems have sex every five minutes...

Still it's dark, funny and features Rogue from X-men, so I like it.

Okay this thread is way old(hell Max is on the first page) you could've started a new thread about True Blood Season 3, it would've been better than reviving this

Could you specify why that would be better?
EDIT- That sounded much ruder and more snippy than I wanted to. Sorry.

I've seen the whole first series, missed a lot of the second, so going to wait for the set...

Its brilliant. Reminds me of what a GOOD vampire story should be. Also gives me tingly feelings like watching Interview with a Vampire for the first time.

Some friends of mine got me to watch a couple episodes. Within minutes I wanted every character dead. So I guess I didn't like it.
Then again, it might be the southern accents. If they recast the show in northeastern America, or somewhere in Europe, I might've liked it more.
