OT: Glee. Yeah, okay, the second season was off its rocker, but the first one was BRILLIANT. Haters gonna hate, but I liked the damn show.
You people keep reminding me of new ones. I get slagged off for liking Glee all the time. Apparently it makes me gay. You'd have thought the whole "has sex with dudes" thing would have accomplished that a long time ago, but nope. Turns out I wasn't truly gay until I'd watch Glee.

The only show I watch that other people criticise, or have done so to me, is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

Come at me, broham, this show is awesome.
I would normally, but I recently saw a few episodes. It's not bad except for the part where I very nearly lost my mind. God damn, when I said it was a virus a long time ago,I didn't know I meant it literally...

Or, do you get regularly criticised for liking them?

Mine are Doctor Who, Torchwood, Caprica, Burn Notice and this new sci-fi show called Falling Skies.
I might be going with the wrong meaning of "criticized", but ain't those shows universally praised?

Like in here:

or here:

Mine? Maybe Ren & Stimpy? It certainly bothered Nickelodeon and some parents, even if it was praised among other communities.

Finally! I could have sworn down the only people who watched that show were me and my mum... [sub]shut up, she has good taste in sci-fi![/sub]
One of my brothers watched a whole 3 minutes before he started bashing it.

I guess I will admit that I watch Desperate Housewives (I not sure if other people hate it but I haven't seen anyone talk about it although I'm not exactly a fan).
It's different to what I normally watch in the past (Lost, Heroes, Community etc) and I guess what appeal me is the situation they get into and I quite like the characters (well except for one).

Beat my brother's record with it. After the first line he started criticising it. I had to watch the pilot twice because he wouldn't shut the fuck up with his stupid bitching over every little thing that happened, and refused to just fuck off.

Incidentally he is the main culprit behind most of the things I listed as being criticised. Often with stupid reasons for doing so. Falling Skies was too "manipulative" (the bit with the children at the beginning apparently), Caprica is too difficult, Burn Notice is too unrealistic (which I still find an odd complaint), and Torchwood? Well that has a bisexual male lead character, so it must be bad!

If you haven't guessed, I fucking hate my brother.

Family Guy and American Dad. I watch the Cleveland Show when it's on (I live in the UK btw) but that's really because the next season of FG and AD haven't started airing yet and I just want to watch something like them (although it's really not as good).

I guess The Big Bang Theory too though... a lot of people online really seem to not like it and go as far as saying "Listen to it without the laugh tracks". If you listen to any comedy without laugh tracks though, it usually doesn't feel as funny thought there are some lines where the laughs are really unnecessary.

I haven't heard anyone criticise them but I still watch cartoons from my youth which my kids (and wife) like to mock me for.

Aside from that I watch TNA which seems to draw the hate from WWE fans.
I gave up TNA about a year ago. Some of my favorite wrestlers like Kurt Angle, AJ Styles and the Motor City Machine Guns are on they're roster, but the creative direction just kills it for me. They have the talent to success, but the creative just holds the product back so much.

I do, however, do not think any less of you for liking TNA. Wrestling fans need to stick together.

Hahaha xD I agree. Though I don't like the songs mostly in Glee, I do like the actual show itself. I watched the first season and thought it was great but I started to wean away from it during the second season. I won't be watching the third though because it switched from a national channel in the UK to an exclusive to one company (It used to be on E4 which is available to anyone but it's on a satellite network channel called Sky 1 which is just a bit crap).

I used to watch Hells Kitchen (you know, Gordon Ramseys shout-at-shit-chefs show). I don't know what the general consensus was/is on that, but all my friends were shocked and appalled I would watch that since they only see an angry troll-man spewing hate whereas I see a perfectionist who needs to get through to people quickly and effectively. Raised on tough love, yo.

EDIT: It feels like cheating to say My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic due to its massive fanbase, but all three friends I've mentioned it to have made fun of me for it. They've never watched a single episode, though, so skaters gonna skate.

I'm in a very similar boat with my brother. Actually he has said he doesn't like Torchwood because of the sexuality of the main character(I don't watch it myself, but that's because I haven't seen it).

I don't watch TV, play games, or see movies with him if at all possible. He just likes to rip things apart and seems to like not allowing himself to enjoy anything.

Please tell me you watch that purely for the schadenfreude...
That's the main reason, yes

I like The Big Bang Theory but the canned laughter really bugs me. The clapping and wooping ones are worse. I think it reflects a lot on the quality of a sitcom if it's just unfunny and awkward without the canned laughter. The IT Crowd is, IMO, The Big Bang Theory done x10 better

Desperate Housewives and Come Dine with Me (though the people I know actually think these are simultaneously bad AND good).

I don't actually get criticised for liking anything, though... My friends are all very accepting. :)

Mine's the same. I swear he just purposely forces himself to dislike anything I even mention in passing, it's kind of pathetic.

With Torchwood, his complaint with Jack's sexuality is just because he's a homophobic son of a *****, knows I'm gay and thinks insulting a show I like on sexuality-based grounds will annoy me. It sort of does, but mostly because of the general homophobia. I have to be sure not to watch Torchwood when he's around or he'll just wander into the room and stand there making anti-gay jokes until I either force him out of the room or turn the show off.

He's kind of a **** that way.
