In brief what to watch that i may not have been heard of yet

Ok bit about me i'm british and i haven't been watching much TV from other countries
I hardly watch any American TV (except GoT) because i hate what i call the CSI writing, where it's very well executed but has no feeling
I'll take poor execution if it has feeling behind it.
Doesn't have to be from America i like European & Asian Dramas too (if you can get the translation).

To get things started i'll recommend some that others may not have of heard about

Inbetweeners: (not the USA version) if you are 14-23 watching this will give you flash backs. Brutally unflinching look at the lives of four 16-18 year old friends as they try to grow up. If you thing you've seen it all before then watch this a get proved wrong

Some Girls: similar but with girls not boys. also set on an estate (same as Attack the Block). The sort of thing that i doubt could be made anywhere else; you got to respect a show in which the question "how big is your boyfriends dick?" is answered by the (17 year old) girl going 'o' about that big.

Being Human: (UK version) Not just a great TV show but possible the best that it is possible for the formate of TV to achieve. I could write a book on what's great about it. USP is you're killer and come back to life as a ghost/vampire/werewolf what do you do? quite your job? try and have a normal life? what if you have no destiny? what do you do?

Luther: Idris Elba and friends recreate there favourite 80s cop dramas. Super dark very messy, it does have the problem that everyone in it except Luther and the serial killer, seems to have no self preservation instinct. This sometimes gets on my tits, like how in one scene a man with a hammer and pepper spray walks into an office kills like 13 people then walks out with on one stopping him

Look forward to herring your thoughts

Everybody who isn't squeamish should be watching the television adaptation of Hannibal. It features Mads Mikkelsen and Laurence Fishburne and is fascinating. Mads Mikkelsen plays the role of Hannibal perfectly and it has been years since I have been so hooked to a series. It got a little slow after a few episodes only to pick right back up and become even more intense.

I am not familiar with the original book(s), but I do not believe it is a direct adaptation, I think it simply uses the character, but it is definitely worth a watch.

Archer is really good, although more people seem to have heard of it these days. Jericho is also well worth a watch, I'm more disappointed that got cancelled than Firefly.

The Tick (2001 TV series).

If you had seen and love the animated counterpart then you will love the Tick all over again! Seriously it's such an underrated show (only had like six episodes) and that where the voice actor of Brock from The Venture Bros was from!

Spaced (first work of the makers of Shaun of the Dead/Hot Fuzz/Paul/The World's End)
Black Books
The League of Gentlemen (a bit on the dark side)

Yeah, I know, all UK based - I only really know UK niche TV shows though.
The only US TV I watch tends to be more mainstream stuff like Homeland, Breaking Bad, Dexter, NCIS (judge me).

Better Off Ted- Sitcom that revolves around a single father business executive, his love interest, his boss, and his two scientist friends/lackeys. Similar humor to Arrested Development (and I licked BoT more). Only lasted two seasons.

I'm going to have recommend Dead Like Me. It's the tale of young girl with a lot of maturing and growing up to do...then she gets hit in the face with a toilet seat that fell from outer space and dies. Then the series ends; it was a beautiful ride that can never again be equaled.

Just kidding, she wakes up remotely viewing the smoldering wreckage that is her corpse only to find out she's been sucked into the worst public service job imaginable: Grim Reaper. The show is mostly a mix of morbid humor surrounding death and the drama of coping with major and sudden changes in one's life, as well as watching the effects one's death has as the protagonist's parents marriage implodes and her young sister goes just a bit crazy.

Also, I can not say this enough: Mandy Patinkin is fantastic in this series. That's kind of par for the course for the man, but it still needs to be said.

Castle. Detective show, featuring Nathan Fillion as a crime novelist, who then starts assisting the NYPD, while trying to get together with Detective Kate Beckett. Much better than CSI and it's ilk, strikes a great balance between drama and comedy. Can't recommend it enough.

The Inbetweeners is possibly the least funny comedy show I have ever seen. And I mean the UK version. I shudder to think what horror the US version unleashed in the world.

OT: I really like Burn Notice, and I don't hear a lot of talk about that, so I guess that's my recommendation.
I feel I should inform you that Fiona's "Irish" accent doesn't stay long. Thankfully.

The boondocks is the best thing ever put on tv. Its a cartoon about two black kids who live with their grandfather in a rich white neihbourhood. Apart from being hilarious it has plenty to say about race, celebrity culture, class, the justice system i could go on.

The IT crowd is also pure genius about it nerds.

IT Crowd - I don't like 'geeky sitcoms' like Big bang theory but IT crowd is on another level entirely.

Tru Calling - stupid concept of dead people asking for help and the day restarting but it's very well done.

Black Mirror - Charlie brooker's future technology and society scenarios

My suggestion would be Strike Back. It's basically the Luther of action shows. Great story lines, great actors, and they don't shy away from blood and guts. loads of fun overall.

If your up for some comedy you can't go wrong with Psych.

Red Dwarf, a British Sci-fi/comedy that's like "The Odd Couple" but in space (initially, anyway)
Misfits, another British show involving screwed-up teens gaining superpowers.

Also, I'm with the guy who recommend Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated, especially in how it re-invents the concept. Also, it's dark as hell at some points.

Sons of Anarchy...just... watch it.. it will grab you and never let go

well i should add a bit more to it.. it has Charlie Hunnam has lead, with alot of well known actors aswell Ron Pearlman for one.

But its about a biker.. and his child is born.. and how will he .. an outlaw, a biker, a killer make it, so that his newly born son will fit into this world of this, or will he make a new future for him.. but.. holy shit you go through all emotions in this series, that is so far on 5 seasons.. amazing imo :) even got my mother and grandmother to watch the entire series and they love it :p keep asking for new episodes xD

Community. It's the best show you're not watching.

It had some problems in Season 3...and then it had a LOT of problems in Season 4, but the shows creator is back for Season 5 so hopefully that'll pick up.

But seriously, it's a great show about a group of lovable misfits who form a study group and have adventures at their community college.

Among these adventures are an epic game of paintball, taking down the school bully, a battle between Pillowtown and Blanketsburg, a secret trampoline, and a full blown zombie outbreak that doesn't end on some cheap cop out of being a dream.

UltraViolet - was a British mini series involving a different take on vampires. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0169501/?ref_=sr_2

Father Ted - Comedy about catholic priests. Very funny.

Spaced - Show down by the people that made/starred in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The Worlds End.

The League of Gentlemen - Comedy show, fairly dark but funny.

Black Books, Red Dwarf, Black adder and Steptoe & Son. All comedies but are awesome.

If we talk american shows then Fraiser, That 70s Show and Bab5.

Peep Show. If you like the comedy duo of Mitchell & Webb, then you should definitely love this. Even if you don?t, it?s still got such brilliant writing.

I don't know if you would count it, but Hemlock Grove on netflix is a fucking awesome short TV show. It's legitimately scary at times, the special effects are great, and lives up to the book so well.

Also it made me like Werewolves again.

Samurai Jack. An animated show that only had maybe 1 season, I can't remember but it was so different than every other show. Plus he was a samurai. He would walk around, and there isn't a lot of dialogue but the action was really fun.
