That remains a unforeclosed judgement. And they are young, even if they are racist, their views can still change. Let them apologise, let them deny even, but there is no doubt that the reaction has shook them up.Dijkstra said:That didn't seem very casual. Casual racism is the sort people just doing unthinkingly, something easier to overlook. Education is not a solution to someone who is doing something they'd already know is wrong.
You seem pretty gullible. What would you expect them to say in the face of the reaction they know they're bound to get? Unless they're Westboro levels of prejudiced they're gonna deny.
That, and I suppose it will come across as apologism to you, but most people can be slightly (or casually) racist at times, from their choice of romantic partner to subconsciously judging based on racial stereotypes - that doesn't mean it's right, that doesn't mean it's acceptable, but I bet these girls were only joking and just got a bit carried away.
To take things from a humorous perspective:
It isn't the sort of black and white situation you think it is.
Assuming they have no redeeming features whatsoever and will not benefit morally from their education. Having mildly racist views is a negative, that's for sure, but it should not make someone an unperson. It's better to educate them in the hopes they will become better and more conscientious people than ruin their future forever.Or they can just toss them out as racist trash. Seems easy enough.
