That didn't seem very casual. Casual racism is the sort people just doing unthinkingly, something easier to overlook. Education is not a solution to someone who is doing something they'd already know is wrong.

You seem pretty gullible. What would you expect them to say in the face of the reaction they know they're bound to get? Unless they're Westboro levels of prejudiced they're gonna deny.
That remains a unforeclosed judgement. And they are young, even if they are racist, their views can still change. Let them apologise, let them deny even, but there is no doubt that the reaction has shook them up.

That, and I suppose it will come across as apologism to you, but most people can be slightly (or casually) racist at times, from their choice of romantic partner to subconsciously judging based on racial stereotypes - that doesn't mean it's right, that doesn't mean it's acceptable, but I bet these girls were only joking and just got a bit carried away.

To take things from a humorous perspective:

It isn't the sort of black and white situation you think it is.

Or they can just toss them out as racist trash. Seems easy enough.
Assuming they have no redeeming features whatsoever and will not benefit morally from their education. Having mildly racist views is a negative, that's for sure, but it should not make someone an unperson. It's better to educate them in the hopes they will become better and more conscientious people than ruin their future forever.

Oh so you like the idea of cultural guilt and weren't complaining, that's nice. Wrong to think you proved anything, but cute.
Alright, it would be lovely if what you have said so far made any kind of sense.
How funny that you cut the translator bit out.

It makes sense. You're obviously complaining about that stupid notion you have of 'cultural guilt'.
Translator bit?
Me complaining about cultural guilt?

Never mind...just, never mind.

'That'? If you mean your gullibility, it's quite clear since you just judged a stock sort of response as true when it's what we would expect a racist or non-racist to say. Needless to say, you'd be bad at that kind of logic puzzle where there's one guy who always lies and one who always tells the truth.
Oh no, I accounted for the possibility that they could be lying. But you know what, you can't tell either. And in circumstances like this, they should get the benefit of the doubt in my opinion.

Stop trying to undermine my character and focus on the facts.

It does sound like you being an apologist. And I'd bet it's more than that since someone who isn't racist probably would have noticed what was wrong in the first place.
At what point have I said that what they were doing was a good thing? I haven't. The difference is, I don't think that this sort of thing merits the knee-jerk overreaction you are suggesting.

Prove it.

And they aren't an unperson. Note that I didn't call for them to die. They just should be shunned and put beneath decent people. It's better to toss them out and take in some decent replacements.
That's almost the same as calling them an unperson. My assumption of your viewpoint seems correct as you want to demonise them, not give them a second chance or entertain the alternate possibility that they weren't being serious.

Hunh. This is what passes for Racism now? A... I'm not sure what to call it, a rant? It makes me sad that people get so up in arms about something as insignificant as this.

:( <-- White Lightnings face right now.

Hmm.....big deal.

It's just a stupid little video of some girls being silly. It's not harming anyone. It didn't ruin anyone's lives, and the girls came out and apologized for it. No, they shouldn't be kicked out of the school for something so trivial, and if they do, (they probably won't, considering it looks like the video was made a year ago, and that would just be stupid) someone really needs to grow a thicker skin and grow up. It was probably a bit foolish to post the video, but like I said, its not hurting anyone. For anyone who might be offended, just shrug it off and carry on. Heck, if someone made a video of a hilariously outrageous stereotypical white person, I would probably just laugh it off.

I'm sure everyone has done something stupid and/or offensive.

The video isn't really that bad, they're clearly just fucking around. I'd be kicking them out of my University though, just because it shows how dumb they are, you can't let your University standards drop. Seriously though, they shouldn't get kicked out of University for this, its dumb but harmless.

Ive seen young college students do things much stupider things than this. They were fucking around, not a big deal. As if the people on their high horses have never laughed or told a racist joke before. Those that want them kicked out need to lighten up and learn a little empathy. Nobody is perfect and nobody is mistake free. Anyone pretending to be offended by this needs to step back and stop being such a victim.

Why is everyone defending them by saying they were young, or it was meant as a joke, and that its not as bad as people think it is?

Even if they had made it with the intent of offending people, they still shouldn't be expelled. Why should someone's future career be ruined because other people don't think racists should be allowed college degrees?

Yeah, because making second-class citizens of those who don't share you views is always a good policy. That wouldn't be at all like making second-class citizens of those who look different than you, no sir!

I'm not going to say anything about the video. I don't need to see it. I'm sure it's stupid.

I am going to say this.

None of you are in any position to even suggest how I should act about something. Or even that if I act over something, if it was an under or over reaction. If you feel life differently than me, that's good. That's life. It's different experiences.

If this video made me see red and want to punch a kitten, that's my response. If this video made me... not care and crave a donut, that's my response. There are things that makes everyone of us angry and there are things that makes everyone of us not give a damn. We're all so ready to say that it's important that we're allowed to be individuals and we need to think for ourselves. Then we go off and complain that not everyone sees life exactly how we do...

I don't think they should be kicked out. I may have overlooked it but I don't recall hearing their university or school mentioned in the video. Which makes this a private matter, that has no impact on their school/university, and I would be very disappointed if they were expelled for this.

That said, they're clearly fucking morons and the video was so stupid that it went beyond hilarity for me into disgust. I cannot believe that they could be simultaneously so racist and yet not say one thing I found genuinely funny. Because generally, it's fairly easy, when the aim is comedy, to do both. Whilst I don't think they should be kicked out from universtiy because of this video on principle, I would absolutely support them being looked down upon by their peers for the rest of their education.

I went out for Halloween in blackface one year. It was funny, people agreed, society didn't crumble, and we all moved on with our lives.

Bit stupid to put a video like that up on the internets, but it's far from the worst thing in the world.

Is it stupid? Yes.

Is it in poor taste? Yes.

But freedom of speech is freedom of speech.

I don't see how this is any different or more inflammatory than Khallid Muhammad's "Kill Em All" speech.

If they do get booted out of that particular school, I can foresee a massive lawsuit about it, due to the freedom of speech, press, and religion, A.K.A. First Amendment.
