Well, im just curious, whats your opinion on people typing letters and numbers instead of words?
Personally, I dont really understand why you would.
Alot of people blame "English is not my first language", but I dont really know of any languages that have words consisting of singular letters and numbers.

Anywho, whats your opinion on this?

That picture is one of the singlemost wonderful things I have ever seen. Thank you so very much for sharing that with me. :)

As for the "R" and "U", if you have a character limit and need to communicate a longish thought, I can see using the shorthand. In most cases, however, it just annoys the holy hell out of me.
I completely agree with you :)

I believe the practice started in texting since there used to be per character charges on texts. Now it's just laziness.

YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. FOR GODS' SAKE (and no, that apostrophe location is not a typo, it's called polytheism and some of us practice it), READ THAT RANT AGAIN.

OP: Thank you. From the bottom of my English language-loving, published-writer heart. There is hope for their illiterate hearts that they're fixable.

As for "u" and "r", only in text messages, and then only when you're trying to get a 144-character thought down to 140 characters and simply cannot find any other way to cut out a word.

I have no problem with typos. People get in a hurry and make mistakes. That's fine. I can also tolerate occassional laziness/rushing, like say when somebody doesn't want to get type-killed while playing an FPS. But when I am presented with a post or message where I have to actually stop and think in order to figure out what the person was trying to say, I inevitably ask myself "if this person doesn't care enough about what they are trying to say to communicate it clearly, why should I care enough to listen?
You shouldn't have to stop and think though. It's obvious what people mean. The only time its difficult "iz wen ppl tlk like dis nd try 2 sound kewl cuz itz awsum" and NOBODY talks like that. Okay so some do, but its not common at all, when most people text type they usually just replace pronouns. If you have a problem with that you really need to get off your high horse. If you honestly find basic text speech difficult to understand then fair enough I suppose, but honestly for most people its obvious.

It doesn't make anyone's opinion less valid either (unless their opinion is retarded too) so it shouldn't change whether you acknowledge what they are saying or not.

*childish giggle* I actually left it there to see how bad you guys still were. When I joined it was ridiculous everyone was a grammar Nazi and even the slightest fault in grammar would become ridiculed, glad to see that you guys still are as bad as ever

I find it harder to read something that consists of so many abbreviations, but in small doses it doesn't bother me.

Nice to see someone shares my thoughts on that kind of typing. It makes you look like a retard.

*After thought* Almost died laughing at that picture.

I prefer it when people type properly, but I don't go off if they use txt talking. In the end as long as you can understand them (if they've got all out silly then fair enough) then it doesn't matter too much.

"U" is a legitimate Dutch word for "You", in fact, it's even the formal version(the informal ones are "Je" and "Jij".)! Stop hating people for not being J.J.R. Tolkien when it comes to learning foreign languages. I occasionally get some of them wrong(like those capitalized I's, none of the other languages I know have that) and that's not because I'm lazy, but because English is my fourth language. I hereby challenge all grammar nazis to go learn 3 extra languages and then type the last one flawlessly.

I find it to be extremely obnoxious. If I don't ignore someone outright for this sort of stuff, at the very least I end up not taking them very seriously as a person, which is almost as bad.

Am i the only one who actually has MORE DIFFICULTY typing in text talk than typing words out normally? I touch-type and its more effort for me to find the letter 'u' by itself than to type out the full 'you', because it doesn't make sense in my brain when i go to type 'u' as part of a word in a coherent sentence.

*inner grammer nazi spazz*
Gahhhh I'm not even going into this. It won't kill people to type a whole other two letters and write text messages that don't need a dictionary all their own to decipher!

What I really love is when people misspell a word on purpose, and it's just as long as it's original.

I think I knew someone who spelt "you" with an e, or something, and it came to 3 letters anyway. It's like, why bother? Other than being a dumbshit, of course.

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd saved that picture.

I rarely do that. So far, only in Monster Hunter Tri and that's because I lack a USB keyboard. Typing while running from a Rathian..not smart.
