Is the 360 that much weaker than the PS3 though? Blu-Ray is an advantage without a doubt, but from a gameplay and graphics standpoint, it's not a large difference. As you said though, when devs get more skilled with the machine we could see that difference increase.TPiddy said:MS won't let it go on that long. It's not going to run 6 more years on its current platform given how far behind the system already is. In 2-3 years when more devs unlock the PS3's potential it'll look like an even better deal than it does now. MS will start to take an ass-kicking in sales. MS brings out a new console by 2014. Mark my words.
Well, the PS3's game library has pretty much caught up to the 360's, and both sides are losing exclusive title priviledges at an alarming rate, with 360 getting Final Fantasy and Metal Gear, and now with PS3 getting Mass Effect.BryanS7 said:Is the 360 that much weaker than the PS3 though? I don't really see either Sony or MS wanting to push towards new consoles for a long while. The 360 in particular has been out a year longer, so typically we'd start hearing about the next console around this time. Instead of the next generation though, both are trotting out high-priced accessories to their core consoles with Kinect and Move. It's a smart move, since you're still selling your older console, and at a profit.
Nintendo I think is the wild card, since a lot of people expect some sort of Wii HD in the near future. They could trump both by bringing out a Wii2 that's more powerful than both the PS3 and 360 with a full library of guaranteed Nintendo first-party hits. Guess time will tell.
Yeah, Sony wants to keep this generation going for longer because the longer it goes the better suited they are for it. The competition, however, won't let that happen and they will force Sony's hand.gmaverick019 said:well i dont see that happening anytime, especiall with sony, who wanted to draw it out a good chunk of years to really recover in profits.
i dont see many people moving on to the "new" consoles if they did have another new generation, so the companies would fail and i think they realize that so thats why they are biding there time with the next generation hopefully.
MW2 is not CoD 6 it is not part of the main series and is a spin off game from one of better games in the series CoD4. It is important it is not thrown in with the main series especially since it was not originally marketed with CoD in the title.thethingthatlurks said:Apologies to those who are not fluent in German [http://www.gamestar.de/news/branche/2317506/ubisoft.html]
The article basically says that Ubisoft is not willing to risk the development of new triple A IPs on the current console generation, as that apparently poses too much of a financial risk. Given the mindblowing success of CoD6:MW2, I can certainly understand that. Essentially, we'll have Ass-Creed XXX before some amazing completely new game.
So for discussion, is it time for a new console generation? And if not, why not?
