Even though the problem doesn't affect me: if you don't like what Bioware is doing, don't get the game. Or move to the USA. Either or.

Funny thing is, he made that song criticizing the U.S.A. for the Vietnam war. People just misunderstood it.
Just like a lot of people do with the "America: FUCK YEAH!" song from Team America.

I actually know the song's origins: I was using it only for the titular line.

Doesn't stop both of the songs from being generally awesome though :D

Someone needs to make some kind of alternative to capitalism. Maybe some sort of extreme socialist policy?

Better than that, we should have one for each country, so they can all look after their own citizen's best interests! National Socialist Parties! It'll be awesome! Nothing can possibly go wrong! :D

OH NOES!! How will UK gamers get their useless overpriced crap now?
Useless overpriced crap and DLC that's been promised to every other region for free.

I'm not buying the Collector's Edition, because EA are terrible people. But, I'm attempting to buy the regular edition and not getting the DLC that's being given to EVERY other region? THAT'S ridiculous.
This. The DLC business is the stuff I care about. Bloody EA's publishing arm again.

To be fair to EA, the last Bioware game with DLC (Mass Effect) they gave the DLC away for free on the PC.

Seems they've decided to do a 360 and moonwalk away from that idea.

So admittedly I preordered this for PC when I saw it was made by the same folk as Mass Effect and like western RPG's.

What exactly am I getting screwed out of and is it worth me seeing if I can cancel my Amazon order and preordering on Steam for a tenner more.

Basically, Bioware said that every new edition no matter what version or anything would have physical codes in the box or emailed to you (If you Download) to download for free "Stone Prisoner" DLC and "Blood Dragon Armor". It seems now that the UK Regular Retail edition won't have these and will only be in the UK's Collectors Edition which is exclusive to GAME.

True. My main bug bear with the Dragon Age release in the UK (and seems like the EU). They've made it very confusing as to what bonuses and DLC comes with what editions and from which retailers. Further, it seems as if some of the DLC the Americans are getting for free with the game, we are going to have to paid for. For me, its not so much of an issue in terms of cost. But it has been annoying - I've ended up switching my preorder about 3 times now because I've had at best confused information as to what comes with the order.

Now, I support bioware, because they've produced some of the best WRPG's of the last few years. But EA and more precisely their publishing arm continue to piss me off. Its the little things that tick me off even more - like why does the EU get the game one day before the UK? Why are digital copies not released til the same day as brick and mortar shops? Why do the digital copies tend to cost the same as the retail copies?

Bleh, I'm just moaning. Ignore me.

Nah, you're right on. From what I've heard, we've had the same trouble with Rock Band / 2, too? What was all that about, and would the Escapist maybe consider covering this?

Indeed.

Right, let's see;
Play.com, for its bonuses, has Play.com Exclusive 'Feral Wolf Charm' Unlock & 'Memory Band' Unlock.

GAME's CE comes with 'Dalish Promise Ring' and 'Memory Band'.

... who else is there?

I was planning on pre-ordering the game when deluxe edition was announced, however when I found out that the UK edition wouldn't get everything as advertised I decided to wait before buying it. I'm guessing me and everyone else posting similar stories aren't the only people to spend less on the game so the difference between editions has probably caused a fairly large loss of revenue.

It's not REALLY affecting me; I was only going to get it for the ME2 armour, but after this ruckus, knobs to that.

UK huh? Can't you just import something from mainland Europe then? Also, I only looked at it briefly, but I didn't see Steam mentioned.
Depends, would you like to play your game in Spanish?

Multiple language options seems to be getting rare these days, which is a serious problem when importing from Europe.
who cares what language it is, at least you won't have to pay as much.
Have you ever played a Bioware game?

Let's just say it's pretty important to understand the dialogue.

Erm, it's an RPG. I think the fact that you can't read any of the text would have a slight affect on your game experience... douche
Alright sorry, i forgot the /sarcasm tag.

[HEADING=1]ATTENTION[/HEADING]

It seems that a Bioware representative has answered back, I've quoted him below. If you don;t want to read it simply says that the UK will get what was promised and its just a miscommunication with the shops and retail sites. Phew.

UPDATE:

Hi, everyone. I received a response this morning from DA producer, Fernando Melo, who's been working like crazy to get this cleared up. Thanks to Fernando and Jason Leong for kicking this issue further up the chain.

From what information we've been given, it looks like all versions of the game in the UK--digital download, retail box, collector's edition and standard edition--will have both the Blood Dragon Armour and The Stone Prisoner.

This appears to be a simple miscommunication with some retail sites. EA is now working to correct this misunderstanding by fixing the information on the EA Store and asking retail sites to change the information they have as soon as they can.

Thank you all for bringing this to our attention. We hope this alleviates your concerns regarding the UK versions of Dragon Age Origins.

Remember to stay tuned for the big DA announcement in just a little while!
