I'm not really happy with the results... particularly with the fact that Liberal Democrats have pretty much confirmed that they will be forming a coalition government with Conservatives...

I'm hoping that there will be another election in the near future, this time with proportional representation rather than first-past-the-post system (hopefully Lib Dems will be able to pressure the Conservatives into changing the system), that way Liberals will have a much greater chance of winning, or at least get much better results.
Wait, what? Don't they realise they stand a better chance of gaining electoral reform if they side with Labour? Alan Johnson confirmed he'd be more than happy to do so, and that's more concrete a promise than you'd ever get from Conservatives.

As an opponent of the Tories I am deeply unhappy with the results. I must have missed the point in history where we became a two party state. I alays assumed Clegg had more sense than the deal with Cameron though, so I've also lost a lot of respect for him very quickly, which leaves me very disappointed, and disillusioned in general about the whole thing.

Who's up for protests if the Tories gain the most out of this?

Unfortunately, in Labour's current state, even if a Lib-Lab coalition was formed, they still wouldn't have enough seats to gain an outright majority... sucks =\

My constituency hasn't reported back yet, but we've been Tory since 1924 so I'm not in suspense. What I want to know is what time all those people who where turned away showed up at the polling station. They blame high turnout, but it was only up by a small amount.

This reply is Full of Win.

OT, we changed from labour to tory. Not too bad, seeing as ours was one of the ones who fiddled his claims and wasn't doing a good job round here anyway.

Well, I didn't know who to vote for, since they were all so shit.

The choices here were the big three, three right wing hate parties that make anyone having an opinion other than "open borders" look like they associate with them, and some other party I can't remember.

The system is broken. The Lib Dems gained 1.5 million votes from the 2005 election, and lost 5 seats.

Democracy; it works!

I'm pretty disappointed with the results. I was hoping the Lib Dems would fare much better, and the Conservative MP in my area regained the seat. 'Tis a sad day.
Aye, I was backing Lib Dems

Shouldn't this go in the Polotics fourm?

And 302 Conservatives seats?! Time to move.

i'm just wondering why this thread has such a strong anti-conservative sentiment? Clegg is a pansy and the lib dem have a history of turning back on their policies when they face unpopular sentiment, for example before the election he catagorically stated that he would never form a cons/libdem coalition, but he is entering talks. And brown/blair/labour have lied and treated the public like children...
I honestly don't understand...

I want electoral reform! our system is so frigging outdated. While proportional representation has its flaws I think it is by far the best system.
But hopefully there will be another election in a few months time, then I will get to vote

Conversatives will not allow any electoral reform, despite our current system leading to this mess in the first place.

The only good thing (in my opinion - I voted Lib Dem) to come out of this election is that Clegg has come forward in support of Cameron so at least we get Labour out. I reckon a Tory/Lib Dem split parliament could be an interesting concept, although there are more than a few people (29% of them, apparently) who'll disagree with me on that.
Presumably that means roughly 29% of the UK is either an immigrant, on long term benefits or a civil servant.

Nick Clegg; what a damp squib he turned out to be. He actually lost seats that Charles Kennedy had gained against the mighty Tony Blair.

Cameron is going to be in charge after the baliffs drag Brown out of number 10.

Oh day of disasters.
