Dude... DUDE, calm down.

Did you not notice the '' around the word innovation? I was being somewhat tongue in cheek.
Anyway, you're second statement is pretty much correct.
If you've played ODST, or Halo CE, than you will already feel right at home playing Reach. Within the world of Halo games there are a few new things jetpacks, a couple of new vehicles and some re-skinned/re-named weapons, but really Reach is just a Halo game, with all that that implies.

That said, I am still enjoying it, very much.
I am totally calm ^^
As I said, I still plan to buy it even if it is just for the Last Stand at the end.
I love that sort of thing in games and seeing as pretty much ALL my Xbl friends have it Im kinda the odd sheep out.

MUST... CONFORM!!!!

Thats a funny poster but no, more a flock mentality at the moment ^^
I rarely, if ever, chase band wagons so buying Reach is purely out of interest to me.
The ads on TV make it look good even if there is a small hidden "Not actual Game footage" to one side.
I'll get it for the same reason I still play Halo 3 from time to time.

"Feeling bored, need a shooter which isn't... too much... brain... thing...
...

Hmmm... MW2 is on the otherside of my desk...Halo 3 it is then!!!"

I'd pick playing a space-marine fighting hordes of aliens over a driving sim any day.

Wait, why did he get suspended for one of the slightly more legitimate posts on this forum? Was it the F bomb? Am I missing something?

Wow a lot of people who jizzed when they bought Halo Reach are apparently rather upset that I think F1 2010 is in higher taste than Halo Reach.
...

F1 2010 on the other hand, well guess what. There hasn't been an F1 game in 6 years! Dissing the game for being a racing game is rather stupid, by the way, as it can take far more skill, endurance, patience, and composure to win a race in F1 2010 than to beat the entire Halo Reach campaign. I say this because 55 laps around Monaco is FUCKING HARD. Now, you certainly don't need to go that far, I've been playing 30% race length so it's more like 15-17 laps, but it's still very tough.

...

They also definitely raised the bar for racing game immersion. You have interviews. You do practice, qualifying, and race day. There's dynamic weather which truely affects the race. You can be fired from your team, or hired by others. There's R&D objectives for small upgrades. The track gets rubbered over the course of the weekend and gets grippier. You have fuel weight, so your car is faster by the end of the race than at the start. Tires wear and can pop. All kinds of stuff that's either innovative or far refined over what any racing game has given in the past.
First, I did not buy Reach...yet...first I buy Metro 2033 if my gaming shop finaly gets it, sells like hot cake he tells me.

Second: Some people don´t like racing games...
That does not have to do with the skill being required to win them, some people just watch F1 for the crashes.
I do...
Does this mean I have bad taste? Well tell you what, people who like DaVinci over Michelangelo have discussed the same things, so I´m not gonna start another one. Let me just say that your opinion is yours, it does not have to be true...

Third: you compare an ARCADE SHOOTER to a RACING SIMULATION, and tell us all that this Racing Simulation give us is "inovative"...fuck it isnt, weather, team management, practice, qualifying and the actual race, tirewear, fuelweight, realistic behaviors, it has all been there before. In other RACING SIMULATIONS. But surely, if you aren´t a fan of F1 in the first place, this game will make you watch it<.<
Or was it the other way around, if you aren´t a fan of F-1, you won´t buy it?
I totally keep getting these mixed up /sarcasm

Sure a racing game can be realistic, challenging, fun, as can a shooter, but if you don´t like racing simulations of boring racing events you already don´t like, and you tell them their opinion is STUPID then FUCK YOU! You didn´t get it!
They don´t like racing games, what is there too argue?
They don´t dislike racing games because they like shooter games, that´s for sure.
It is like discussing about people whos favorite color is blue have better taste then those, who say it´s green.

The field of Simulation is rather small in it self. The complexity just drives some people off...If you don´t understand that, no amount of laps in monaco, singapure, Nürburgring or whatever can change our mind. It´ll probably bore us more.

Get it? Adding MORE RACING GAME to a RACING GAME does not equal more fun for people who DONT LIKE RACING GAMES!
It´s like you said: "Halo: Reach is simply more Halo", F-1 2010 is simply more racing game, is that your point? If it is, that is a stupid one.

It´s like people liking rugby over soccer, or ManU over London, or what ever...it is the SAME FUCKING PRINCIPLE!
People have different tastes...some people like ramming 18 inch Dildos up their ass, that does not dismiss their taste as bad, stupid or wrong, it just isn´t the majority.

well, this is a surprise, I would have never seen this coming!

Oh well, I was debating whether to get F1 2010 earlier this year, but decided to save my money.

...

Which I later spent on Halo: Reach

:)

Christ, how can people say 'omg Halo is shit F1 2010 is much better' or vice versa? They're incredibly different games and having played both I'd say they're both pretty good. If I actually had any money I'd probably be buying them both now.

Has someone been released toxic vapours via keyboards today or something making people more suggestible to UK/US flame wars?
(and skip to 4.:52)

It's mad today. WHY CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG?! ;)
lol, good video, and even better, it does make sense! I'm actually gonna watch more of that, it seemed quite funny...

Hmm well I was on probation for the OP after I added the edit. I was actually suspended for my response to getting probation.
However, I don't know why I still have a 7 day probation... maybe that's normal after a suspention.

Aside from that, I'd like to respond (finally) to a couple of the last posts... it seems a few people are still quite angry about my idea of taste, although I feel quite confident I did a good job of explaining that I'm not in any way inferring to the quality or fun of the games at hand. I have not called Reach a bad game, nor a stupid game or a not-fun game. I have merely drawn comparisons to how each game has inovations for their field... or not. While I'm sure Reach is a nicely refined Halo experience that will be enjoyed greatly by fans of the series, it is clearly my opinion that 3rd and 4th or beyond iterations of a series is not really a tasteful purchase. I wouldn't consider CoD MW2 a tasteful buy, yet I do own it. Same goes for BF:BC2. I own them for reasons beyond whether they are "tasteful" products.

F1 2010 is quite obviously not in the same category as Reach. However, it is tasteful for reasons I put into the OP including bringing new features to the genre and included in that is the way it imerses you in the experience of being an F1 driver. Whether or not you enjoy the gameplay of either game is irrelevant to my points.

And to be entirely honest, I was indeed trying to bring a little life to the forums but not as a complete troll trying to make a VS thread or some such nonsense but by making a valid argument with logical points, about something rather intangible (ie: taste). Yes, it got some fanboys in a frenzy, and some non fanboys in a huff too but by reading back you can see there was many people supporting both sides of the arguments, and on top of that there really hasn't been a ton of shit throwing from either side... all in all, this topic was a raging success both in terms of getting people talking/arguing but also in keeping this for the most part civil. It's too bad the higher-ups didn't agree with my method, and I'm sorry for the sass. Getting probation and suspentions are not things I enjoy.

Personally I don't see how racing games are fun. You go around and around and around the same track over and over...so much fun my eyes bleed. Just my honest opinion. I prefer FPS, RTS, and RPGs. Sports, racing, music games bore me...

EDIT: Also, after reading the posts and replies from the OP, why the hell was he suspended...? He didn't bash any side in particular (at least from what I could tell). Whoever suspended him needs to re-evaluate why...

F1 2010 provides me with quite the adrenaline rush, and there's something very, very satisfying about pulling off an overtake. (Especially if it's on Michael Schumacher on the final corner of the race)

Plus! I can't drive.
