FF VI, VII, and VIII are my personal favorites.

That's right, I said it!
I liked VIII.
So did loads of people, including many of the people on here. It is and, with the state of their recent attempts probably always will be, my favourite.

I'm right there on that limb with you.

Ten had such an interesting story and it was told so well, it is definetley my favorite and I've played nine, seven, twelve, X-2, and eight.
If you can faze out Tidus' god awful voice acting. The "laughing" scene still gives me nightmares...

Kefka killing the cast of ff7 and 8 would be the best thing ever. I can't stand those two installments.

FF6 and 11 by far for me. I can wait for 14.

Tell me about it, he sounds like a seagull having it's intestines removed with a pitchfork. Did you notice that he only had like three hand gestures? That really annoyed me sometimes.

Indeed. I didn't mean for that to come off as being pompous, if you perceived it that way ;)

I would definately say that without any doubt Fallout 3 is the best Final Fantasy. Or maybe Kotor, or Neverwinter Nights 2, or Baldur's Gate 2, or perhaps Planescape Torment or Fallout 1.

Oh, no, wait, I've just gotten confused now haven't I.

I will tell you what the worst Final Fantasy is though, and it also happens to also be one of the worst games ever.
That would be Final Fantasy X-2.

Ya i agree with both of you, X is definitely my favorite: had best combat and story in my opinion. Best $20 i ever spent

HAHAHAHA NO. You must not have played many truly BAD games if you actually think that.
The world is saved from civil war by a pop concert.

A pop concert

Never have I played something so mind numbing, and yet at the same time so rage inspiring. It represents just about everything that's wrong with Japanese games. It's inisidious, its childish, juvenile, and spits all over interesting characters, morphing them into hideous Hot Pant Wearing, Gunt Totting, Stupid F*****g Dialouge Spouting boobs.

I really love FFVII combat, however the graphics didn't exactly age well, and the story was far from the best in the series. How about VII's combat, VI's character roster, and a story that has nothing to do with an evil government taking over the world.

Ten, It was my first Final Fantasy game an therefore my judgement is probably tainted. But it was just so damn addicting. I think i did everything possible to do in that game.

The best ones in my books are still and forever will be: Tactics (PS1/PSP, not that gameboy shite), FF4, FF6, FF7, Crisis Core, and Recently Dissidia for actually doing something new in the fighting game genre and doing it WELL. All these games (save for Dissidia) have the best stories of the games I have played, I have yet to play 12 so I reserve judgment and the only one that I actually hate of the core franchise is 8.

For me its down to VII or IX both for nostalgia reasons, VII has not aged well its hardly a feast fir the eyes anymore, the characters are alittle one dimensional but it still has a charm and imo one of the best music tracks still, always managed to create an atmosphere. IX I loved because VIII was just horrible for me I liked it right up untill the end where it was just so random and pointless "hey look new villain!" "I have no motivation or nothing to do with the story blah!" (yes I know Necron was the same...) But up to that point it was great a real throwback to the old titles, great music score and it was nice to have a main character who was not brooding, depressive or cold (okay he brooded once but it was for a good reason and gave momentum to the following events and the scene)
