No I don't agree. Borderlands gets my vote.
My exact words that I came here to post. I never played Uncharted or its sequel, but it's been a while since a game grabbed me the same way Borderlands did. Even after I beat it with its disappointing ending, I still kept playing it because it was
fun. Most games just aren't that fun anymore, even if they are really good. I think TF2 is the closest thing in recent years that just keeps me playing for no other reason. Even Bioshock, which earned an instant second playthrough for me, just wasn't as much fun as it was just engrossing. It was like reading a book or watching a movie that you wanted to experience it again to pick up the things you missed. I find Borderlands to be horribly shallow by comparison, but that doesn't change anything for me while I'm having that much fun.
Edit: Borderlands IS a good game. It's a good game when you get my brother to play it until 3am on a work day while every other similar RPG released in recent years gets scoffed at by him. Seriously, there is no way you could get him to play games like Oblivion or Fallout 3, but I hook him up with Borderlands, and instantly he's addicted. I'm the gamer of my family, and he beat the game twice before I finished it once. As it said above, there are flaws in the game, but it was just fun, and that is what gaming is about.
Also, bonus points for it being a co-op campaign game while every other game (besides L4D) is a deathmatch shooter if it offers multiplayer. Borderlands needs credit for that because no one makes co-op games these days.
