So many people think that it's gorram stupid, but Zoolander is just about my favorite movie of all time. First of all, it's an example of a good movie with Ben Stiller. I know, right? Ben Stiller in a good movie? But it's really funny, really well written, and every time that I watch it (going on 30sumthin) I pick up something new. It's one of those movies where, at first glance, it's a dumbass, slap-stick, brainless, modern "Stooges," but in the end it surprises you with how much it has to offer. If you haven't seen it, http://www.netflix.com/

Serious answer: The Brothers Bloom. Great movie that few have heard of let alone seen.
I want to see that! It was on the moive network a few weeks back but I missed the first hour, I have yet to see them play it again.

OT: American History X, stars Edward Norton as a white supremists skinhead who has a life changing experience in jail about racism. It's very well done and crafted, Norton got all beefed up for the role, other then the weak crying preformances by Eddy it's a great movie that tackles both sides to racism and society, it's not our over-the-top, bullshit, Oprah Winfrey, black empowerment movies, it's raw edgy and violent.

Anotehr nod would be Death Proof, awesomely Directed by Quinten Tarentino (sp) I feel it didn't get as much of a good rep as his other films, easily a cult hit. (Still need to see the first movie of the Grindhouse Double Feature: Robert Rodriguez?s Planet Terror, heard it's wicked as well and one of the pre-couser trailer's are being made into a feature length move, The Mexican Machette, corrected, but it stars Jessica Alba god help us!)

A little movie called Chaos Theory starring Ryan Reynolds. Hilarious, well written, well acted and just down right brilliant.

Also, Smokin' Aces. I've only met one person who's seen it. Great movie. Also starring Ryan Reynolds.

Looks good. I don't know why I've never heard of it. But it reminded me of one of my favourite movies of all time: The Darjeeling Limited

*snip for spoilers*
Holy shit dude, you just spoiled the plot of Chronicles of Riddick. Spoiler tags next time, out of respect for those that haven't seen it.

On that note, Pitch Black was amazing. I remember seeing trailers for Chronicles when it came out and had no idea what it was about, but it looked cool. I read a little on it, and saw that it was the sequel to Pitch Black. Huh. So I *ahem* downloaded it from my campus's local file-sharing network and watched it while knowing nothing about the plot; because I never even read the back of a DVD case, I didn't even know the basic premise at first. Fucking AWESOME. Same with Saw.

Anyway, I just finished watching Phone Booth again today. It got pretty good reviews, but it's not a popular movie any more...plus, Colin Farrell has kind of fallen off the radar. But it's easily his best performance, and if you don't look at the case to see the actors, the final reveal of the villain is pretty unexpected. Just ignore that it's directed by Joel Schumacher, who is responsible for such atrocities as Batman & Robin and Number 23.

Batman Forever. I know everyone knows about it, but a lot of people hate it before watching it because of Schumacher. Granted, it is a bit stupid at times, but it's a fun movie that looks great and has an amazing score.

I apologize for being the douche who says this but use the search bar. This [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.173624-Greatest-underrated-movies] thread was done less than a month ago.

Funny (but true) answer: Half Past Dead. It's Seagal's funniest movie and I absolutely un-ironically love it!

Primer is an underrated movie, probably the best movie on time travel there is.
That movie soared miles over my head! It took 3 tries for me to understand what the hell happened. Great movie though, probably the best movie out there that explores time travel seriously.
I don't think anyone really understands Primer the first time through. I read that the director (also one of the lead actors) was an engineer and mathematician and refused to dumb down the jargon and principles for people like...me.

I'm sure there is a TV Trope for this scenario:

You know, plucky group working on something till "The Man" get fed up with how bad things are going, even though the heroes are doing the right thing, and send in the storm troopers to "take over" where they will "follow the rules and be damned".

Terry Gilliam's Brazil - definitely weird but an absolute classic.
A Boy and His Dog - if you have any love for the Fallout series, watch this movie. Read this short story. Fantastic.
The City of Lost Children - Ron Perlman at his best. This is one of my all time favorite movies.

You ninja'd me. The girl at the Blockbuster tried to talk me out of renting it, said it was the worst movie she'd ever seen. When I returned it, I asked if she liked Titanic. She said yes, so I just smile and nod when she offers opinions on movies.

Good lord. That movie was worse(confusion wise) than Donnie Darko. The plot synopsis for that is pages long. But the best time travel movie is 12 Monkeys.

I don't know exactly how underrated it is, but I'd say Enemy at the Gates. This is the reason why the original CoD's Russian levels kicked so much ass. I liked it better than Saving Private Ryan, the eastern front was so much more desperate and brutal. To date it's the only movie I know that is just about WWII's eastern front. Now I have to hope someone will make a movie about Kursk.

And good call on Boy and His Dog. Did you know one of the Doors did the soundtrack for that movie? There are two movie quotes I use regularly to express displeasure with people-

"Farm. Immediately."-The Overseer from Boy and His Dog

"They should all be destroyed."- Muldoon, Jurassic Park

Oh yeah, anybody mention Screamers yet? Or In the Mouth of Madness?

Sam Neil knocks on a table. "Do you hear that? Reality!"

Yes Man. Funny film. Rhys Darby was well done.

However, my ultimate answer would have to be Equilibrium.

Yeah sure, the story premise isn't all that original (after WW3 the world leaders make all form of emotion illegal and turn society into a heavily sedated/drugged police state emphasizing complete conformity and capital punishment - death by furnace - for "feeling" or possessing such materials as books, games, music and art - within the first ten minutes, for example, you see the Mona Lisa incinerated by the police after they've overwhelmed and killed the rebels protecting it) but it's still fun as hell to watch. Christian Bale is a kick-ass dude with a strong performance. Martial arts with guns? Sign me up.

It's quite visually appealing as well in terms of symbolism. Rows upon rows of faceless law enforcers in motorcycle helmets. The black, white and grey outfits. The EVERYTHING.
