Old school - M.U.L.E

New school - Dungeon Keeper, they could have taken that so far!

Obviously I didn't care for 2

Neverwinter Nights 2

NOT as good as the original (especially when you factor in Hordes of the Underdark), but still very good. The release was very buggy, I admit but thats been fixed in the recent patches, and as NPCs go its up there with the best of Biowares efforts. Also, from a pen & paper DMs perspective its the most consistent take on 3.5 edition D&D rules in agame so far. Give it a chance, especially if you like western RPGs

Sacrifice: Damn I loved volcano, and those artillery mutants who would pull out their acid blood soaked organs and hurl them at the enemy.

Final Fantasy 8: It's just as critically acclaimed as all the other ones, but the unique battle system and cast of characters seemed to gain the ire of many a FF fan. I mention it not necessarily because it's the best in the series, but because it gets the least credit for being so good.

Shin Megami Tensei - Nocturne: A lot of people didn't like this exclusively because of how difficult and unforgiving it was, but the mix of pokémon-esque party building, mature themes, and plot carried almost completely by flawless atmosphere puts it near the top of my list. There simply weren't very many copies released.

KotOR 2: I don't care if the original was more polished, they had twice the development time. It had one of the best story lines in history, and should be played through at least once by everyone just for that.

Halo 3: I feel bad for this game, poor little console FPS whipping boy.

Sacrifice, made by Shiny Entertainment back in 2000, PC.
Holy shit, I'm glad I'm not the only one who loved that game.

I'm still playing it online now. BGD - Leviathan. It's been a good 8 years =)

Hail the only RTS/RPG/Action hybrid ever.

Well done for mentioning some of the most hugely popular and biggest selling games of all time. Did you read the thread title?

Yeah, those are great games but definitely not underappreciated (save by haters).

Heh, Under Defeat might be a underappreciated game, but that's mostly it's a shmup. And because it's an arcade game with a Dreamcast port that almost nobody knows about and was released in such small quantities that you'll be paying an arm and a leg for it.

Hell, I got Ikaruga and Radirgy and they costed upwards 70EUR each.

Sanitarium- for pc. forgot all about that game. it was pretty awesome till u got to the 3rd disc or so and it just got more weird then creepy. Still tho the hide and seek level one of the most fucked up things ive ever played out in a video game. Check it if you never have.. its worth it.

Wild arms- for ps was also a fav of mine.

zero divide- on ps. some random robot tekkenish game that you could cripple and short out limbs and knock off armor. waay cool for its day.

World war three - for sega cd..just too awesome for text.

and unfortunalteyley cant think of the name atm..but it was for ps and was a turnbased honeycomb grid strategy game. darkshadows.. nightstalkers or sumthing..neway you could play as a vampire or some girl knight like 4 main charatcers.. and it was all anime and you could evolve yoru army or your monsters and advance levels and gain spells and all sorts of stuff. WHish i knew the name. would love to get my hands on that again.

(pls mail me if you know what im talkign about)

Star Control--It was somewhat popular for PC in it's era but imo amazingly good and unpopular on Genesis
