Unique games that you just have to give the developers a high five for

Can you think of any games that were unique gems, no matter how you look at it, their worlds were creative beyond imagination and just left you wanting more. I don't mean just good games like GTA, COD or Red Dead, because those three are very basic concepts, there isn't much beyond development quality and gameplay elements that I can say is a great deal unique.

A few games come to mind:

- Oddworld games: So bizzare that the typical person could never think of it.
- Flower: A game that had no words, no talking no storyline, but still had more emotion, storytelling and climax than most games.
- Final Fantasy Universe: Square create worlds that constantly amaze me, linear or not, very few games replicate worlds as amazing to look at and monsters to fight against as Square.

I know quite a few more games, but lets see what pops up :)

Ha, this actually made me giggle. Nice.

OT: Siren Blood Curse.

At this point I'd rather give him more of a slap than a high five, but agreed.

Mirror's Edge, it makes you feel like you're there doing those things. I wish some games would incorporate Mirror's Edge movement into sandbox exploration :(

World or Goo
Totally agree. Cute and sometimes unnerving physics games have proliferated since the iPhone but Goo is excellent. Who'd have thought building the 50,000th-ish tallest tower in the world could still be rewarding?

Stuck on the GPU level though.

I'd also suggest REZ on the Dreamcast (XBLA and PSN too?). Beats, colours and headaches. Brilliant with big speakers when the neighbours are out.

Dwarf Fortress. There really isn't anything like it. It takes a special kind of game to make me donate money to the creator when I don't actually need to. But dammit I wanted to because Toady deserves it. Dwarf Fortress is one of the few games being made today that isn't driven by profit but rather the artistic vision of the creator.

I bought it during the Steam sale, and while I haven't beaten it (due to obscure adventure game logic) I definitely admire the unique artistic style. It really is a truly imaginative world that has a special type of charm to it. Speaking of indie games on Steam, World of Goo is also another creative game that everyone should go play. Right now.

Conker's Bad Fur Day, Rare had some serious cojones releasing a mature game like this back in the N64 days, and it was a great story, I mean Nazi teddy bears just made me smile.
