You don't really believe that's an unpopular opinion, do you?
Eh some people can get upset with that. Usually people who haven't played it.

Playing in tournaments is a valid way to make a living ( if you got the skill)
If you can make money anywhere, it is a valid way to make a living. I mean barring things such as murder and stealing, I think playing tournaments is fine. If I had to say, it's that I think Fallout 3 is the superior game to New Vegas and that Portal is highly overrated. Seriously, portal is fun on the bun while playing, but it isn't some God saving miracle dudes, come on.

-Halo has the best sandbox of things to do in any shooter I've played. it also has the best enemy AI of any game I've played
-Lollipop Chainsaw is fucking awesome
-The most recent Turok was alright, the guns just sounded awful
-Valve is over-rated
-Declaring a game better on one platform is wrong, I play all my RPGs on my xbox and I have a freaking blast but apparently its not the full experience.
-40k is just as expensive as a drug habit, if not more so.
-Portal did nothing for me
-Dead Space scared me more than Silent Hill 2
-I play Cryis 2 on console
-Console gaming isn't the reason for everything bad in the industry.

I liked FFXIII too. If only because it shows Final Fantasy might be creeping back towards its good days. It did feel a lot like X. Although not quite as good.
[small]I suppose them using the exact same boss theme helped that part.[/small]

- Cutscenes are fine, as long as they don't drag on too much and don't dominate a gameplay-driven game too much
- We don't need any more console generations
- While I hate games with subscription fees, they're much, much better than games crammed with micro payments
- A game can stand on story alone and still be great
- Fable 1 was a really good game
- I really, really don't like Okami
[small](Please don't kill me, Daystar)[/small]
- I found Portal 1 to be really boring after half an hour or so, and I didn't like the atmosphere (Although the fight with GLaDOS was fantastic)
- Games don't have to be realistic to be good. At all.
- Also, graphics aren't really important to me at all
- Valve's games in general are horrifically overrated
- Brink wasn't that bad
- Although a lot of other people here seem to have the same opinion, I think Dragon Age: Origins was terrible
- Etc

As I maaaaaaaaaaaaybe mentioned in another thread, I think the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games are boring as all get-out.
Likewise with League of Legends- I cannot fathom why a game so soul-obliteratingly dull is so huge right now.

Half-Life 2 is not that good.
Counter-Strike 1.6/Source are boring.
Computers are better than consoles in every way.

-Deus Ex Invisible War wasn't that bad
-Thief 3 was the best in the series
-God of War is one of the most boring games in the world
-Dead Space Extraction was very good
-Dragon Age 2 was fine
-The Witcher is much better than Diablo
-Fuck that, most games are better than the Diablo franchise
-Skyrim wasn't all that

-Valve isn't all that good.
-I hate FPS. Ironically, I'm buying Borderlands 2.
-Dynasty Warriors is hella fun.
Most of my contrary stances are pretty much on record.

Not sure that's a minority opinion. Even I, who has been fairly vocal about SR3's flaws, still find it fun.

-The early "Resident Evil" games had problems too. 4 and 5, you can at least control properly.
Even as a fan of the early RE games I fully admit they had their issues.

Though you remind me of my first unpopular gaming opinion: RE4 had terrible controls and RE5 did nothing to fix the bigger issues.

Also:
- Mario hasn't had a good game since the N64 (Mario 64 obviously)
- Same for Zelda actually (Majora's Mask being the last really great one)
- Despite Majora's Mask being amazing, OoT is pretty mediocre.
- Despite all of the detailed lore, history, and world building they engage in, Bethesda can't write an interesting story to save their lives.
- Bioware never could either.
- Batman: Arkham City had terrible pacing and was notably worse than Arkham Asylum

That's all I've got for now I guess.

-Valve's practice of handing out permits instead of games is as damnable as many things that other companies do and get torn apart for.
This argument never makes sense to me because by singling out a company your anger is misdirected. Your real beef should be with the legal system which says that you don't own any game you have ever bought, just a license to play it. Yes, that includes physical games which you need to pop into a cartridge or disc slot.

-I believe mature games are a future of the game industry and that anyone who doesn't do it is doomed to be mocked
-I believe JRPGs should be like what they are back then with the current benefits of a M Rating and actually using it. So give me sex along with that blood, violence and symbolism

Getting the big one out of the way first- I think we're very privileged to even have these games in the first place and whining about how they're not being given to us the right way, and that we somehow deserve more at the developer/publisher's expense, is ridiculous.

Also
-I don't enjoy hack and slash games, including God of War
-Every CoD game that's been released has been good and they're near perfect at hitting their target
-Braid and Limbo are okay I guess
-If your Xbox Live what's-it-called is set to Professional or Underground I'll think you're a douchebag
-Origin really isn't that bad
-I liked all of Mass Effect 3
-I don't have a problem with day one DLC because it doesn't affect me at all
-Same with preorder bonuses
-Same with all other DLC

-The witcher 2 is as linear as COD.
That's not an opinion, that's just a technical thing that's not true.
Wrong, chapter 1 has 16 quests(3 are contracts,4 are interactions) chapter 2 has 9 quests(3 interactions,1 contacrt), chapter 3 has 7 quests(6 on iorveth) (2 interactions, 1 contract) and The map tries to feel open but fails miserably because eventually you understand that it's like being in a box(invisible box). The only thing that made the game long were the cut-scenes and the only reason i played it is was because of the story.

I liked the game but it felt very restrictive and closed down, but that's my opinion other might like the linearness and the quests.

And even if isn't as linear as COD it's still very linear to an RPG.

Not that many but I'll list the ones I can think of.

- I don't think games are art due to me finding art pretentious
- Just because a game is indie doesn't make it automatically good
- Triple AAA games are still good (sometimes)
- I still like Bioware and Mass Effect
- I don't like CoD and think it's ruining the industry (No EB games clerk, I do not want to pre order Black Ops 2!)
- I think Minecraft is one of the best games of this generation
- I like DLC (I have a lot of disposable income so it doesn't bother me)
- I don't think EA are intentionally trying to be dicks
- I didn't find Borderlands funny (Claptraps are just annoying and add no comedic content)

..... oh yeah and
- Legion > Garrus

-First person shooters are not killing the industry
-Neither PCs nor consoles are inherently superior, it all depends on taste (I actually prefer a thumbstick for shooters).
-I find Bethesda open world games overrated (I get bored too quickly, I tried Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 3).
-Red Faction Guerrilla was a surprisingly good time.
-Bioware is still good.
-"Multiplayer only" games should allow those of us who do not wish to play with others, but still want to experience the game, the option of bots.

Although, after reading this thread, I'm not convinced there are unpopular gaming opinions. Maybe just within a specific community.

I like MGS2
MGS2 is a classic, among the best 50 games ever made for PS2 (if not higher). Most of the hate was just irrational anti-Raiden hate (I played MGS2 not knowing anything about anything, so I didn't care that I played Raiden, and I actually began to find him awesome.

Though revisiting it now, the controls have aged absolutely terribly.

- I think Call of Duty kicks fucking ass.
- I think the Batman Arkham games are overrated as hell. The combat is great, but everything else feels mediocre.
- I think World of Warcraft is still a great game.
- I didn't think the Game of Thrones video game was complete shit (the story was fantastic)
- I also think ALL the Halo games kick ass.
- I think Splinter Cell Conviction was an Ok game, but threw all real stealth out the window.
- All Valve games other than the Half Life series are overrated.
- Fallout 3 is simply WAY better than New Vegas.
- I think Skyrim is as good as, if not better than, Oblivion.
- Minecraft is not really fun, more a time sink.
- Starcraft 2, while fun, is overrated. Reviews said that people who didn't like RTS games would enjoy it, which is just not true in my opinion.

-I was glad when Aeris died.

-ME3 was an awesome game, with a terrible ending. But still an awesome game, and far-less of a sinful shlockjob than DA2.

-Max Payne 3 blows the rest of the franchise out of the water.

-GTA IV is a better game than the rest of the franchise (Except maybe San Andreas)

-Legend of Zelda: Windwaker is the best Legend of Zelda.

-I liked the characters in FF13, and thought it wasn't as bad as people make it seem.

-Resident Evil 5 was awesome.

-Silent protagonists aren't that bad. For example, I liked Isaac way WAY more in Dead Space 1 when he was completely silent, I thought he was rather annoying and insufferable in Dead Space 2 and him talking actually made the game less scary.

-The new DmC looks pretty good, I can't wait to play it.

-Halflife 2: Deathmatch is waaaay more fun than TF2

-Mass Effect 2 was a boring mash of side-missions leading to a terrible climax

-It would take a head injury to make the "humour" in Borderlands actually humorous

-The best GTA is still GTA 1

-Completing Bethesda games feels like a chore

-Video games are and always will be a nerdy hobby that it shouldn't be okay to talk at length about and spending hours a day playing them is antisocial behaviour that society should be concerned about

-Video games are at their best when they are neither serious nor gritty but instead colourful and ridiculous (e.g., Vanquish > Killzone or Gears of War, Saint's Row 2 > GTA 4, ExciteBots > Gran Turismo)

-The tactical combat of the Infinity engine games (Icewind Dale 1 and 2, Baldur's Gate, etc.) was possibly the peak of RPG gaming combat and (if you used the space bar enough) one of the best turn based strategy games out there

-Turn-based strategy and space-shooter-sims (Freelancer) are the most fun genres

-Escape Velocity and its iterations are more engaging and fun than most modern games

-Modern games are mostly better than older games. You prefer old games through nostalgia goggles.
-If you say "X isn't a real RPG" to a game that's commonly considered to be and referred to as an RPG then you're pretentious, elitist, and clueless.
-When you hype a game it can never live up to your expectations. Hope for the worst and ye shall not be disappointed.
-Gamers are the ones at fault for unpopular gaming trends (e.g. DLC, DRM), for it is they who buy the products justifying the decision to include such features.
