As long we're talking about unpopular gaming opinions, HD adds nothing to the gaming experience and HD collections are bullshit unless something is being added to the games in addition to the bloody HD.

Final Fantasy XIII is one of my favorite final fantasy games
Final fantasy XIII-2 it took what was great about XIII and make it better and took what was wrong with the last game and fixed
While I can't agree with you on Mirror's Edge, at least I know there's someone else who thinks this :) Unpopular as it may be, while FF XIII isn't my favorite, I don't think it always deserves all the shit it gets.

-Final Fantasy XIII / -2 are one of the best games i've played in a long long time.
-Elder Scrolls games are mostly shit.
-Dead Space series is freaking scary.
-Civ 4 is worst of the series.

Unpopular? Let's see.

Final Fantasy X was last good game in the series.
Final Fantasy VIII is terrible. Hated almost everything about it.
Dragon Age: Origins is nothing exceptional.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is best LoK game.
I agree with all those, everything else on your list I haven't experienced, so I have no opinions there.

One or two of my own.

MegaMan Legends was a great game, and Misadventures of Tron Bonne was even better.
Wind Waker is easily the best 3D Legend of Zelda game out there.
Final Fantasy-s 4 and 9 are my favorites.
I liked Metroid Fusion better than Super Metroid.

I don't like the GTA games, never have.
Played San Andreas back on the PS2. It was okay until there was a mission where you had to drive a car and simultaneously shoot a cook or something. I got so frustrated with the controls that I left the series and never looked back, nor do I have a desire to.

I think the biggest unpopular opinion I hold is that I don't mind handholding as long as it serves a purpose in the story. That very slow opening of Assassin's Creed III? Loved it. FFXIII's first half? Awesome.

Oh and I loved (and still do) the heck out of FFX. Love most of the characters and the story really drew me in.

Hey guys, I'm sure this thread has been done at some point already but I wanted to try my hand at it. What opinions do you hold in regard to gaming, or to certain games, or game genres that you feel puts you in a minority?

I'll give a couple. For one thing, I found Bioshock dull. I liked the atmosphere, but the combat just didn't do it for me, and the story and the more to the point the statement the game seemed to be trying to make about Objectivism was not interesting to me personally since I had already read and written about such things in a couple of college philosophy electives, and didn't feel invested in another commentary on it.

Also, I think Portal 2 is overrated. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good game, but I think it started to drag a little in the middle, and started to feel a little bit repetitive. Portal 1 was a very tight little package, but Portal 2, in an effort to make things bigger and better for the sequel, got flabby.
I wouldn't say these are unpopular, since most people I know agree with you and many here too. Hell, I agree with you. Most of you here are picking a lot of popular opinions, do any of you really think 'playing on PC does not make you better' is an unpopular opinion? Or saying something is over-rated?

- I found a lot of the humour in Portal 2 really forced, and reviving 'that' character was very disappointing, and that it was suddenly capable of more than before is pretty lame as well.

- Samus Arans design change to the bland sexy anime weakened the character, and chucking in cinematics and forcing text in the latest Metroid games is going backwards to the inovation in narrative Super Metroid and Metroid Prime did so well.

- Nintendo has sold out so much in the last couple of years that they have completely forgotten how to make quality products and games.

- That games (music and movies too) with a bland story and/or average writing does not mean that it is unintelligent. There are many different types of artistic intelligences you're forgeting about, like creating a good atmosphere and what not.

That's enough for now

Skyrim was shit, too easy, too short, no actuall choice or immersion, tried to hard to be good like Morrowind. oh and Dragon mounts is a stupid idea, and anyone who says otherwise deserves a puch in the head and a lecture on how causual gaming is destroying the integrity of great games/series.
Bretons are the master race in the Elder Scrolls
Gen 5 of Pokemon is great and people who say otherwise can go and try making it, so we can all laugh at them when the fail.
Halo ODST was the best halo, followed by the original and Halo Wars...
CIV 4 and all the games after it sucked due to being too easy.
Visual novels such as Muv Luv are games and have more merit as games than that of games like COD.
Spec Ops the Line sucked, and so did Sniper elite V2.
Dishonored is boring.
Soldier is the crappiest class in Mass effect.
Ocarina of time isn't the best Zelda game. (Majora's Mask is)
Metroid Prime is the better than classic Metroid games.
The Megaman battle network games are the best games in the franchise.
Trolling is the only fun thing to do in MMORPG's
Dubstep ruins any game period, no exceptions.
Arguing over which console or platform to play a game on is stupid, and thus arguing over it makes those arguing about it stupid.
Blood, gore, swearing, drugs and all that Jazz don't make a game better in any way shape or form.
Trading in games is dumb and a waste of money.
Hack and slash games are boring and a waste of time.
Assassin's creed is a shitty game series, and has a horrendous plot.
Fallout New Vegas was bad... not because of the glitches, or the story. Because of the crappy map layout, Cazadores, and Lack of actual role playing.
Armored Core 5 is the best AC game.
I didn't like Scriblenauts.
Pirating games that aren't sold in your area/translated in your language, or are discontinued (IE:Super robot wars Alpha) is fine.
Camping in call of duty etc. is a legit strategy, and it forces other players to try new tactics/think more, thus making it a better experience for all players.
"no-scopeing", "barrel-stuffing", "trick-shots", "wall-banging", and all other related terms are stupid and repeating or practicing them is proof you are a bad player.
Fire Fly wasn't the best show ever.
The Walking dead, (both the game, show, and comic) are over rated.
I agree with many of these but not one of them is fucking unpopular! Except for possibly the Assassins Creed one.

-MGS4 was the worst in the series
-Max Payne 1 and 2 were good, but not great
-I am not a fan of multiplayer only games that are not F2P
-Crysis 2 was alright and better than 1
-Battlefield 3 looks like shit
-Oblivion was overrated
-Blue Shift and Opposing Force were actually good
-Torchlight 2 beats the ever living crap out of Diablo 3 (A little uncertain if that's not a common opinion truth be told)

That's about it.

EDIT: Mass Effect 3 was terrible. Not just the ending, every single aspect from the narmish to downright shit writing, to the texture quality that games from 2005 do better, and the fucking terrible attempt at Gears of War gameplay.

*Pulls out umbrella* Here we go:
-Assassin's Creed is very overrated
-CoD multiplayer feel very slow, even on console
-Mass Effect 1 is a terrible, terrible game. Interface and gameplay are poor
-Portal 2 is a good game, but not great
-Capcom fighters have been boring lately
-Zombie modes are not fun
-Minecraft is boring
-The F1 series is the only good racing series right now

- I strongly supported Retake Mass Effect.
- I supported the California video games law in Brown v EMA, and, putting support of it aside, the Supreme Court overstepped its bounds in calling a law unconstitutional even though it clearly wasn't.
- I thought Sonic 2 was awful, especially compared to Sonic 3. It was too long and too difficult to not have a save feature.
- Piracy is a good idea.
- Standard controllers are superior than keyboard & mouse for most games, even ones that end up on PC.

Mirror's Edge was a Stunning game with not as many bugs/glitches as people say.
EA aren't the worst Publishers, but are in the bottom 5.
To the Moon is not as great a story as said by many.
Pokemon White 2 was very drab.
Portal was a tech and concept demo, not a game.
Games based solely around multiplayer aren't the worst things ever.
Controllers aren't always bad.
PC has quite a few flaws (But so do all consoles).

That is all I can think of. Some aren't really unpopular, but whatever.

-Duke nukem forever was a fine game. Not terrible, not good. Fine.

- Resident evil outbreak: file #1 and #2 were possibly the best out of the resident evil series (i know that someone said this on the first page, i agree)

- EA are not that bad. There's far worse companies in the industry than EA. They have made some series worse, but some of them are still okay. Kind of.

- Silent hill 4 was better than silent hill 1.

- Amnesia isn't scary for me or atmospheric.

- War games and space games are more overdone than zombie games.

- Minecraft isn't a game.

-The walking dead game was terrible, both as a game and a story. It's pretty overrated.

-Skyrim is overrated. Fallout new vegas is also kind of overrated.

- The xbox 360 and ps3 are basically the same console, they're both not that good.

If I like it, it's a good game. Suck it.
That's actually a pretty popular opinion. And a pretty silly one.

As for me: Dragon Age 2 was a decent game.
Commonly held maybe, but 6 seconds around the Escapist will show it isn't so popular with the others. I liked Dragon Age 2 as well. So yeah, good game.
You make a fair point, but after 6 seconds on the escapist you seem to end up confronted by at least 83 different people with the opinion that all games are terrible things that we play not to enjoy, but to critique the living hell out of, because having fun is some sort of cardinal sin.
Despite that I kinda like it here...

Unpopular opinions?
Depends who they would be unpopular with, for example I quite enjoy call of duty as a game to blow off steam, and was quite entertained by the story in each game, now among most of the gamers I associate with, that is completely fine, however, a brief look around here will inform me that it is the greatest assault ever committed against gamers everywhere, and we should burn Infinity ward / Treyarch at the stake

Halo 3: ODST was pretty damn fun and one of the better games in the franchise (as in 9.6 as opposed to the 9.2/ and 9.4 of halos 2 and 3 respectively)

GTA IV was a positively involving experience that made it an incredibly fun game to get lost in, the social interaction aspect didn't bother me at all because it gave an opportunity to characters to flesh themselves out in a real way

I loved the Mako in ME1, and think that the Hammerhead was a massive step down

Male Shepard is better than femshep voice wise (and yes applejack IS the best pony on the citadel)

Assassins Creed 1 was amazing, Brotherhood and revelations were similarly fantastic in their own way

Half Life, and all associated valve properties are put on such a pedestal by gamers, even though they aren't actually as fun (for me) as people keep on telling me

I enjoyed Duke Nukem Forever and thought it was an entertaining game

The here come the saints trailer for hitman absolution was completely fine, the people that got upset about it were being incredibly foolish, no damage was actually done

The Kane and Lynch games are in my top 10 game series because of how fun they are, especially to splitscreen with friends

Saints row 1 is the best in the series, if they threw in the voice acting from the second game and actually bothered to continue the story from 2 onwards, they would have one of the best series ever, instead Saints row three came out and it is one of the worst crimes against gaming ever committed

I legitimately teared up at the sequences with
SgtMajor Avery J Johnson, Maria, Dominic Santiago and Cortana

FFVIII is probably my favourite in the series because I found the main character relatable to a degree.

FFXIII's only problem was the lack of a decent villain, which they corrected in FFXIII-2.

I'll likely buy Lightning Returns.

I didn't notice Heavy Rain's flaws the first time I played it and still think the whole "JASON!" thing is overblown.

I didn't enjoy playing Bioshock (but I only rented it, so I'd like to have another go.)

The Elder Scrolls series is known for their engrossing world, yet I've been more engrossed reading the lore on the wikia.

The PC elitist doesn`t really exist in any significant form. I think console gamers are just overly defensive in how they percieve objective statements made by PC gamers. Most PC gamers really don`t care about about how other people play games, they just want good games on their chosen platform. Individuals who actually attempt to put down console gaming are just trolls trying to get a rise out of others, hardly representative of the community. I suspect the PC elitist phenomenon will die down once the next-gen consoles are released as console gamers will have nothing to be defensive about as the platforms will have similar technical capabilities.
I think most "elitists" tend to be ok when they've got some good games to play. If you go back 3-4 years ago when there was hardly anything to play apart from a few shoddy console ports that was PC gamers were shooting their mouths off the most.

ATM it seems to be old school console challenge gamer who is most vocal nowdays, those who like PS2 era games and DMC and Darksouls.

I thought the first Witcher was as much fun as leprosy. Is that unpopular? Also, I loved the campaigns in the modern warfare series. Even if I tried, I just could not deny that I had a lot of fun playing them.

Oh yeah, and Diablo 3 is better than the first two. Lemme have it.
