Right. So emailing the company telling them how much you enjoyed the game would be saying thanks. Watching the credits would be if the waiter came up shoved the menu in your face again and said THIS IS THE MAN WHO MADE YOU PORK CHOPS.Danzorz said:Yeah um I mean saying thanks in a way that doesn't involve monitory value.darthzew said:And I did... with $60.Danzorz said:Well they put a combined amount of thousands of man hours into a game the least you could do is respect the work they did.
It's like giving compliments to the chef after a good meal.
Like the original Fable... ¬¬archwiccan said:i just want to add to your post. Some thing i truly hate is credits that you cant skip but must wait till they are over to save the game completion file. So if you don't sit there and watch them you need to restart from your last savedarthzew said:Why the hell do developers do this?!?
I just finished Far Cry 2's campaign and I was hoping to try the multiplayer but get this: you can't skip the frickin' credits! I have to sit there and read through the names of people I honestly don't care about while listening to music I don't really like. There are solutions, like turn on your own music or maybe do something else while you wait... but I figure: since they make me watch it, it can't be that long.
Oh how I'm wrong. And oh how it makes me angry. I had positive thoughts for Far Cry 2 and now I'm left pretty angry about it. Shouldn't they want gamers to walk away thinking about how they liked the game rather than angry at credits?
I would seriously like to know what goes in developer's minds when they make their credits skip-proof. Are they just so arrogant that they MUST have people read their name and function?
Personally, I think this kind of thing is unacceptable... what do you think?
You're absolutely right. These people put in incredibly long hours and work their butts off at a difficult job. They deserve to have their names out there. Even if a lot of gamers might not stick around to watch them, they have every right to put them there for people who do. Making them unskippable is fine, as they usually only take a few minutes. They deserve recognition for their work. And don't think for a second that if you worked on something for that long that you wouldn't also like some credit for it.ZeroMachine said:I personally think that patience is a virtue.
These people worked INCREDIBLY hard on their game. If they feel that their names need to be put out there when the game is beaten, then it's well within their right to do so. Go get something to drink or a snack or something if you really don't want to sit through it. And if you can't stand waiting 5 or 6 minutes without playing a video game, then you have a problem.
Sorry if I'm seeming rude here, but seriously. It's not a long time to wait.
You can do the same, just press the PS button and go back to XMB.maddawg IAJI said:why dont you just go to the dashboard (if your playing on xbox 360. if your on ps3 then sry cant help ya)
Hey, I remember that! Wasn't the game Enter Electro, or something?scnj said:Sometimes I like credits. I think it was Spider-Man 2 on the PS1, the credits were displayed on a wall that Spidey was crawling up and he made funny comments about the names and people as he passed them.
Why? How many TV programs do you read the credits of? How many books do you look in the inside cover and note the publishers and assistants, the printers and cover designers? How many CDs do you own of which you've read the credits to find out the sound engineers or third violin in track 3? Credits are there to acknowledge the makers of those things by the games company and to anyone who is interested. It is not a compulsory part of the media and I shouldn't have to pay money for the game to have that choice forced upon me.psypherus said:Credits should not be skippable. In fact, people should be forced to actually read them. The people in those credits took the time to create a game that you obviously liked enough to finish, so you should take the time to find out who made that game possible.
I'm reminded of a certain scene from A Clockwork Orange, and what that ended up doing to the subject...psypherus said:Credits should not be skippable.
