Bioshock is a much easier movie to make, seeing as you have underwater city as the setting, while Gears of War is going to rape its own budget if they shoot it where it needs to be shot, which is Siberia. Bioshock is kinda easy to make a movie out of, while if GoW the movie should be a movie version of the first 2 games, GoW3 is likely going to screw up the storyline

I might see Bioshock but not Gears. Bioshock's back story at least has the potential to make it interesting, Gears will be nothing but mindless blowing shit up, which I could get by you know... playing Gears of War.

Well Mortal Kombat has been the only game to movie ive really liked since it was really true to the game, and that was received horribly.

...and people wonder why they simplify the movies for nubs.

They should both be great. I mean, BioShock is a good template to work with and Gears of War is just blood and guts so there's nothing really to worry about.
easier said than done.

resident evil, final fantasy, silent hill, max payne and every other video game movie always gets the comic-book-movie onceover: added unnecessary corny/retarded scenes, complete rewriting of characters and basic plot for no reason other than creative masturbation, and bad, bad acting.

i'll pass.
Don't think all comic-book adaptations are like that. For Example: Watchmen. hand over fist. period.
haven't seen it yet, definitely need to see it. yet, is this not a needle in a haystack? the punisher 2004 remake was pretty good, and batman is always good (minus "forever" and "& robin"), but fantastic 4 sucked, the spiderman movies are over-hyped, hulk was bad, ... iron man was ok ...

i dunno, i guess it's about 50-50. if we're expecting pure cinematic gold filtered through the anus of hollywood for any of these movies, it's more like 3-97

Gears of War? Seriously?

Oh yeah wow, lemme guess who they'll cast for that. Jason Statham, The Rock and maybe Hulk Hogan? I'm guessing it'll be just another 300 movie, rugged men with six packs running around chopping people in half...

Actually, that sounds fucking A.

The movies Doom, Street Fighter, and Mario Brothers were all horrible in my opinion.

oh god are they really... Bioshock will probably suck because the game was an artistic masterpiece so it'll ruin it. Gears might be good just because all they have do is deliver gore and gunfights. I'm willing to look into both though

I really, really want a Bioshock and Gears of War movie... But I'm so into those that I might ***** and wine about the films being too inaccurate compared to the games.

I don't want to be the guy in the cinema getting up and saying "no, no, no this isn't what it was in the game!"

Haha I will take the blame off your shoulders for that one...

Nah I was being sarcastic about Doom etc..., all those films (especially Tomb Raider) were giant reeking cinematic turds shat from the fat ass of Hollywood.

Both have potential to be decent films - I hope they don't make Gears live action - they will, but they shouldn't...

I don't think they can make a good Gears of War movie.

As I see it, they could either make it into an OK action movie and drop all plot aside from the "These be aliens, go massacre them", or, if they drop the dead wife poltline into it, the movie will instantly be a pile of shit. It didn't work in the game and it'll be equally out of place on the big screen.

I think the movies will actually be good. Bioshock has a good story and Gears is just lots of action and violence with the occasional shot of Dom crying.
