Two reasons why Homefront may not fail:

1) Many people on here have the same criticisms of Homefront as they do of CoD MW2. I'm willing to bet they criticize that game as well, yet it performed in sales because semi-hardcore gamers like FPS games with familiar surroundings.

2) People who claim that Homefront will definitely fail cannot work out the concept of spell check. Seriously, it underlines the words in red squiggly lines... "Defiantly" is at least a word, albeit the wrong one, and "Definately" gets the red squiggly lines. This is why I don't get movie reviews from 8-year-olds (although to be fair, an 8-year-old claimed Toy Story 3 was the best movie this year, and he wasn't completely wrong, so....).
1. CoD MW2 is a part of an extremely highly-marketed franchise with a large fanbase. It didn't sell well because Americans were familiar with the setting, it sold because it was advertised fucking everywhere, had a lot of brand recognition behind it and had a lot of fans. The criticisms are still valid. It is not a game that *I* would call good, but that has nothing to do with this.

2. This doesn't make sense to anyone but you. Try to keep in mind that we don't all live in your head.

I'm as astonished Dynasty Warriors is still floating around. I guess these series keep going until they tank, regardless of quality (see modern warfare, silent hill, [in my opinion] etc.)
I'd never heard of Homefront up until recently, and I can imagine why everyone seems to think that it'll fail, something I'm inclined to agree with.

Homefront (hopefully)
We have enough CoD clones.
You remind me of this guy:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaiOz9Y0hM0
olololololol that's actually pretty damn funny.
Alright, then I suppose I should explain. I don't wan't anymore CoD clones because I'm sick of the modern military shooter FPS, not because I'm a dismissive CoD fanboy. CoD4 is good but other than that I haven't played it.
Honestly, you can't say Homefront doesn't look like something trying to cash in on the CoD cash cow, can you?

From what I've seen, it's more Fallout with racing.

Borderlands was basically an FPS Diablo. Loot, loot, and more sweet loot. I see no loot in Rage.
Well, Fallout is less of a shooter than Borderlands, as far as I know.

So that was the connection I've made.

Rage is, after all, primarily a shooter.
The setting remind me more of Fallout, too. Borderlands' "apocalyptic wasteland" wasn't very apocalyptic. Cars were common, technology was widespread. The people were extremely well-adjusted. They even had the ability to teleport vehicles to stations.
To be honest, Brink looks more like Borderlands than Rage does.

LA Noir was looking cool but ever since I saw the pre-order breakdown, I've been thinking it might not sell as well off the bat.
They'll probably sell a lot of gamestop pre-orders for that first week but most of the people I know are going to wait for whatever goty they come out with.

The thread is asking about sales... I think. In both cases those games are going to sell copies hand over fist.

#2 makes sense if you read through the previous posts. Two people claimed that "Homefront definitely will fail" but both spelled it wrong. And since I haven't read the posts between my last one and this, I'm willing to bet at least one more bad-speller will claim to have game-smarts despite their inability to spell.

As for #1, you make two points. First, you say that MW2 was advertised everywhere and that is why they succeeded. Look at the previous posts, many complain that Homefront is advertised too much. Second, you say that MW2 had brand recognition. You're right there, but the criticisms leveled by previous posters about the game weren't centered around its lack of recognition, but rather because of its similarities to MW2.

As my post implied an understanding of the context of the previous posts, it might have been good to read those before responding.
