Think: Brink, the SMART system just won't click with the mindless "quickscopes leet!" crowd that pervades the majority (there are exceptions) of the multiplayer scene.
I think the system will click with people.

I'm just not convinced the actual game will be different enough to stand out. The only gameplay video I've seen so far is of Container City, which is pretty ordinary stuff right down to that Modern Warfare style assault rifle that seems to be the weapon du jour. While the level has a couple of spots where the SMART system would come in handy, looks like most of the fire-fights play out exactly like they would in any other game minus a bit of sliding into cover which we've already seen in Crysis 2.

I was hoping to see something more akin to Mirror's Edge with parkour style fire fights going on as people hop from building to building. But if Container City is representative of the actual game... just don't see anything special.

Medal of Honor tanked? It sold well over 3,000,000 copies. If thats tanking, then I hope to hell The Witcher 2 tanks.
It only sold that much because of the heavy ad campaign and of course the controversy.
Still, I wouldn't call that tanking.

Perhaps realizing that sarcasm can't be expressed with two lines of printed text would be better.
Or you could have just read a couple more posts. Not exactly that hard.
Or your could have added some indication of sarcasm at the end which would have been even easier.

Then after the fact you attack people for taking your post at face value and not "reading all the posts" instead of going back and hitting the Edit button to correct your mistake. Which means, either you refuse to admit your sarcasm didn't translate, despite all the evidence to the contrary, or that you welcome people to misunderstand it so that you can attack them for it.
Ummm, I think Irridium would have had a hard time editing someone else's post? Just going to point out... he wasn't the original poster that you quoted. He simply pointed out that it was stated as sarcasm later in the thread.

Anyway onto subject: As many others have said Rage, and I hope... Dynasty Warriors 7 does... because that series should have died at least 4 games ago.

And depending on how we're defining tanked... Hunted... I think it will sell well, but not as well as Bethesda would want.

Homefront (hopefully)
We have enough CoD clones.

OT: I just don't see the hype for Duke Nukem. It may be an twelve-year old game but the gameplay itself doesn't look that satisfying.

I also hope Gears 3 tanks. The first one wasn't very impressive, it was just a chesthighwalls gorefest. The second one was like a big expansion pack :p

It's hard to say what will and what wont "tank" these days since people will buy bad games irregardless of quality, especially franchise fan boys which is the only reason Call of Duty and Halo still sells. Sure, they have their own merits but that was back on their first installment.

If I was to take a quick look on potential tanking my vote would go to Star Wars: The Old Republic if it comes out this year, I love BioWare and there is no doubt it will be half way decent but MMORPG fans don't really give new MMOs much of a chance with World of Warcraft still being relevant.

If not than F.E.A.R. 3, Rage, Conduit 2, Shift 2: Unleashed, Rift.

Edit: The only reason listed Rift even though they already reported on a million sales already, when it comes to MMORPGs its not the initial sales per say but the continued success through subscription. There is where, I believe, it wont do so well.

I expect F.3.A.R. to do okay. Somehow the second one did well enough to inspire a third one, despite no major changes from the first one. Someone is obviously buying this.

Duke Nukem will tank.
Diablo 3 won't tank, but it'll underachieve, same as SC2. Hopefully that'll put a nail in the isometric RPG coffin.
Bioware's Star Wars MMO will do fine, but won't attract as large a crowd as they hope for.
Rage will tank, but I will probably love it.

Duke Nukem.

I think there's a very small, very vocal group who are hyped up for this game. The average consumer is going to see just another generic FPS. It'll do better than Haze, but it won't come close to COD or Halo level sales.

id's Rage.

Just don't see any hype for it. Don't know anyone who's seriously pumped about Rage.

Maybe they'll pick up the pace, but I doubt that.
I'm pretty excited for Rage, but I know what you mean. id's keeping quiet and we know next to nothing about it other than it's pretty.

OT: Homefront and The Old Republic look kinda shady. Also, the Mortal Kombat reboot might get overlooked. I haven't seen anyone excited about it.

Duke Nukem Forever.

After I've played (regretably) Bulletstorm, my hopes for Duke to reinvigorate mindless and fun shooters have plummeted.
Serious Sam is way better than Bulletstorm IMO.

Rage might tank, the new Spyro game will tank, Alice: Madness Returns will tank, Red Faction will tank, DMC will tank and Duke Nukem probably won't tank even if it sucks, which I suspect it will.

Well, that's my theory anyway.

I got the opposite impression. Maybe you just can't handle the motherfucking wall-to-wall ownage.

I can't lie,I'll have to say Duke Nukem Forever,I'd guess it'll be good, just not over 12 years of development good which will cause it to be firebombed by every reviewer in existence.

Two reasons why Homefront may not fail:

1) Many people on here have the same criticisms of Homefront as they do of CoD MW2. I'm willing to bet they criticize that game as well, yet it performed in sales because semi-hardcore gamers like FPS games with familiar surroundings.

2) People who claim that Homefront will definitely fail cannot work out the concept of spell check. Seriously, it underlines the words in red squiggly lines... "Defiantly" is at least a word, albeit the wrong one, and "Definately" gets the red squiggly lines. This is why I don't get movie reviews from 8-year-olds (although to be fair, an 8-year-old claimed Toy Story 3 was the best movie this year, and he wasn't completely wrong, so....).

I finished the game in Hard and I did most of the skillpoints, I liked the flourished language and I loved the toilet jokes, I even bursted in laughter after unlocking the "Drilldo" skillpoint, but I didn't enjoyed the game as much as I wanted to. The number of enemies dissapointed me quite a bit, after playing Serious Sam last month, I was expecting to kill way more enemies than than the game is capable of.

Resuming, I was dissapointed by Bulletstorm. And I doubt Duke himself won't dissapoint me.

I didn't go into it expecting it to be the same kind of game as Painkiller or Serious Sam, so maybe that's why it didn't disappoint me [small](I was hoping for a weird hybrid of Vanquish and Gears, which is roughly what I got)[/small].

As for Duke Nukem, I obviously haven't tried it, but it doesn't look very interesting to me.

It might still sell, though.
