I have a PC of similar cost. No blu-ray on it though, nor do I have a blu-ray player, so +1 for a PS3 there. If I hadn't bought my 360 before the PS3 came out, I would probably own a PS3, but you can't change the past and who knows what I would have actually done. The whole argument about price dropping is getting to the customers on the fence about buying one (ME!).Mornelithe said:obisean said:Activision is bigger than EA. Now if EA pulled out of the market of a given console, people would care (mostly because of Madden and NFS). I don't think anyone realizes that if Activision pulls out of PS3 development, it WILL be a pretty big impact. What people don't see is that Activision is a huge publisher, so even though they may not have something you want now, they can easily pick up a new IP that will make you wet your pants, and that is what Sony does not want.
What Activision is doing is a pretty dick move imo, but it is necessary. I do want a PS3, but it's very hard to justify buying one so that I can play Resistance (generic FPS), MGS4 (interactive movie), LBP (mostly for the wife so that she can never play it), and Drakes Fortune (no remarks here, probably the only one I'm truly interested in). All the rest I can get on 360. And most games (if not equal looking) look better on the 360 than they do on the PS3 anyway (Ghostbusters, Fallout 3, GTA IV, Assassins Creed)
EDIT:
So you can't *****, here are my sources on the "better looking games"
Ghostbusters:

Fallout 3:

GTA IV and Assassins Creed:

All the games you listed, look better and perform better on my PC. Why would I need a 360? Think it's hard justifying the price of a PS3? How about the $2300 I put into my gaming rig?

A PC or console will still make money whether they have an exclusive or not. The Halo games will most likely make a lot of money though as well as Mass Effect 2. Plus there is GTA IV DLC as well. Either way the 360 will be making money someway somehow.bue519 said:Yeah its not like it's coming out on the PC and PS3 also. OH WAIT!! Funny because not so long ago the PS2 was still high up in the sales charts. They could have kept supporting it to the degree they were before the PS3 launched. I bet even with all those Wii and 360 owners they would have still bought PS2 games. It was the lack of PS2 support that pushed me into the next gen and into the arms of MS. Sony had a good thing going and then got scared when everyone else started releasing thier next gen consoles. Hell even launching with MGS4 would have been a smarter move than trying to put out a crap launch line up to compete against the 360's line up that was already a year ahead of them.Onmi said:This is true, at the very least a Jak and Ratchet Title should have been waiting with open arms with a Racer and SOME RPG to tide people over (Folklore didn't get NEARLY the amount of exposure it deserved)oliveira8 said:Maybe? SOny should have launched the PS with God of War 3, Final Fantasy 13 and Gran Turismo 5.
They should have launched the PS3 with a killer line up from the start. Not bring in the heavy guns 2-3 years late, when the damage is already done.
In an IDEAL world it would have released with them
At the Update: Seriously your (i'm assuming sarcasticly) upset that they just respect how the third party feels instead of saying "Well go on do it!"
Cause ther was NO BIG TITLE games to go with an overpriced console. Now the titles are coming but Sony has a financial hole the size of the moon.
ANd God of of War 3, Final Fantasy 13, Last Guadian and Gran Turismo 5(the ones that are called "Saviours of the PS3, the ones that will make the PS3 sell") are only getting released next year. Almost 4 years AFTER the PS3 got released. 4 years that Sony spent with a financial hole with the size of the moon.
But then again look at the other side. Waiting 4 years to release the console would have been a loss anyway. because while it would have a big library people would allready have a Wii/360 combo.
Nobody was willing to wait 4 years for sony to get to the party.
Sony cant afford the lost there having financial difficultly.squid5580 said:Funny because not so long ago the PS2 was still high up in the sales charts. What is really sad is that Sony should have known better. This isn't the first time in gaming history that a company put out a high priced console that was leaps and bounds ahead technologically that had a crap launch. And failed miserably. The only difference between the PS3 and the 3DO is Sony could afford the loss.
As am I and without console exclusives then whats the point of owning a console. Besides GTA DLC is probably coming to the PS3 and Mass Effect 2 is going to be on the pc. The PS3 is currently one of the best blue-ray disc players out there for its price range. I know people who have bought it for that and don't intend to use it for games at all.Go on said:I think it's time for me to get a xbox 360 soon. Well at least there are some pretty cheap second-hand xbox360 s to find.
And I know people who won't buy it for that purpose because they don't' want or need to replace their entire DVD collection. And personally if I wanted a blu-ray player I'd get one for my computer because it costs 1/3 what a PS3 does (the player, not a computer, that was a gift)Gyrefalcon said:The PS3 is currently one of the best blue-ray disc players out there for its price range. the PS3 plays DVD's just fine you dont need to rebuy an entire collection on bluray the would be just stupid all bluray is is a better picture/audio quality otherwise it does nothing better than DVDAceDiamond said:And I know people who won't buy it for that purpose because they don't' want or need to replace their entire DVD collection. .....First, I'm 95% sure that the 360 has more exclusives than the PS3, as it has been out a year longer, and MS seems to enjoy pissing off sony fanboys by making previous PS3 exclusives multi-platform. Second, there are plenty of reasons to own a console with no exclusives. Maybe the graphics are better. Maybe the controller is cooler. Maybe the console has more games of your style. Whatever the reasons picking out a console based on what exclusives it has is quite stupid.bue519 said:As am I and without console exclusives then whats the point of owning a console. The point would be to play videogames. I bought the X-BOX 360 to play videogames. I eventually want to own a PS3 and a Wii as well. I already have a PC so I am set with that.bue519 said:As am I and without console exclusives then whats the point of owning a console. They could before the economy went in the crapper and everyone realized they can't afford a few grand for that nice new Sony HD TV, or Stereo. And before they began throwing every spare dime they had at the PS3.murphy7801 said:Sony cant afford the lost there having financial difficultly.squid5580 said:Funny because not so long ago the PS2 was still high up in the sales charts. You missed the point. The PS3 fanboys cling onto their exclusives like they're the reincarnation of Jesus. When two of their most important franchises branch off into the mainstream, you'd expect them to get pissed.bue519 said:Yeah its not like it's coming out on the PC and PS3 also. OH WAIT!!
