How is this synthetic? All they're doing is putting DNA inside a cell that already exists. Hell, I've done this at least 3 times in my high school genetics class THIS YEAR (as in, jan to may semester).

I don't really see what the big fuss is about the onlt difference between this cell and a "normal" one is that a computer build it's dna rather then "nature".
Just another case of science wasting money on useless shit no one needs or cares about.

You do realise that this technology could lead to some serious scientific advancements, like the eradication of genetic defects, the artificial development of biofuel, the creation of vaccines and the disposal of carbon dioxide? There's likely a ton of other stuff possible too. Stop and think for a second, and you'll realise that all that "wasted money" you ***** about has improved your life rediculously.

To what end ?
What point is there to moving forward when you don't know what you're moving towards ?
Perverting the natural order of the world for no reason other then to perpetuate this meaningless endevour, hoping that in the end we'll have some justification for our actions ?
Blindly stumbling along without any foresight doesn't help anyone.
