I swear people hear/read the word expansion and suddenly they feel that it should only cost 20 bucks. If the thing has 15 hours of play time then I say why not. How many solo game titles come out in a given year and only have about 15-20 hours of game play, and people scarf them up at $50-$60.

If this was a stand alone game people wouldn't be whining nearly as much.

Wow I was feeling a little behind only having got this game for Christmas and having just completed it today (40 hours) then I see all this DLC thinking I need to catch up but now there's an expansion already? And I'm not sure I can justify spending that money on an expansion, defo gonna have to wait for a sale on this one.

And what the hell if they decide to start doing this all the time? Buy a game and barely have time to complete it before bringing out the next bit? Seems a bit soon.

Who's with me on betting that the 'old' character will be morrigan?
Nah It's confirmed Alistair, I wish it was morrigan though, I prefer her over Alistair any day.

Why is there a sudden emphasis on how many hours long it is? Are going to start paying for games by the hour or something?

God of War, MW2, Uncharted, Arkham Asylum etc all took less than 10 hours so why are people complaining about an expansion pack that costs less and comes with more?
Simple really. They are giving us an expansion that is 15 hours long for a game that is 100 hours. And for 2/3 the price of the 100 hour game. And before you go on about all the other games you mentioned let me point out they are not RPGs. I have a different expectation when it comes to an RPG than I do when it comes to an FPS. I don't want a 30 hour FPS game (unless it is Fallout 3). I don't want a 30 hour Arkham. They will get repetative and drag on. A 30 hour RPG an the other hand is a bit on the short side.

Will the game be finished or just more crap piled on?
The specialization classes need to be overhauled the spell/trap combo glitches need to be fixed, where in the hell are all the runes? and why can I enchant armor and bows?

While better than FO3...this is FO3 all over again.......

lul wut? FO3 is not retpive with the lack of skill, equipment and weapons to properly fill out a 30+ hour game?

$40 doesn't seem too bad, if it's really about 15 hours of gameplay. Most shooters don't offer that, and they charge what, 60? 70? On some occasions 100, for some useless crap labeled 'ultimate super special edition' that includes like a sticker for your notebook, or something. Admittedly, it's a bit steep for an RPG, but hey--It's Dragon Age--you pretty much already know it to be fucking amazing. I just wonder how they're gonna start it, because it looks like they're moving off of the "Alistair as king" ending from the first one, which is cool, but leaves the question of is it adaptive. If Alistair was sacrificed in the final battle, what then? What about if the other lady was queen, and Alistair just joins you in wandering around (which wouldn't be that hard to deal with). Hopefully it's not just a beginning from one of the endings, it's an actual carryover.

well since they claimed that dragon age had 100 hours of gameplay, it "only" lasted 50 hours for me, so with some very very simple math this expansion pack will have 7½ hours, oh and 40 euros is way to much, thats what the Americans had to pay for mewtwo.

20 euros would be fair, 30 would be pushing it but i would still pick it up if the reviews where good, but 40!, I'll likely pick it up once it goes on sale.
When they claim it has 100 hours they're implying that you'll play through all the endings... which is at least 4 playthroughs, and then all 6 origins.... I have played it through twice now, first one taking 40 hours, second one taking 32.... I'll hit 100 hours easily... just because you're skimming through it and not doing everything doesn't mean they're liars.
My first playthrough, which included the golem content and in which I endeavored to complete 90-95% of sidequests I found, took around 72 hours. So I certainly don't think there's any exaggeration on taht front.

I assume it'll adapt if you import your character, and either give you a set of questions when you create your new Orlesian character if you don't or simply throw you onto an ending which Bioware deems 'canon' (likely: Alistair doesn't become King, whats-her-face becomes Queen, Morrigan has a demon baby).

I'd prefer the questions personally and if we follow what they're doing with ME2 new characters, I should think it's quite likely they'll use that again.

15 hours? That's longer than it took me to finish God of War, a title that I paid about $60 for!
I'd say that's fair for an epilogue that likely will have multiple endings in addition to a large amount of different character interactions which, if played out linearly, would probably run for quite a bit longer than that.

Even Warden's Keep had some replay value in siding with one quest giver or the other.
It isn't as if this DLC is required to play the main game or to restore features that never should have been left out, so it's all good by me.

Yes, it's to make money. Isn't the job of game companies to make money by providing us with entertainment? This isn't a charity.

Well worth the money is it really is 15+ hours of game play, I hate tiny DLC that you can clear in an hour with one hand stuck in a chip packet.

I hope they keep this up. I wish it was going to be downloadable rather then disc based, but then again I'm a big fan of the idea of all games coming out downloadable rather then on discs, I can't stand shuffling the DVDs when I want to play a different game, I like the option of flicking through a menu on-screen and getting the game I want.

And I really hope this expansions does not include any shitty side quests. I found the side quests in Dragon Age: Origins to be awful, and unless they really improve them in this expansion they better not consume any of the already small amount of gameplay.

I can't tell you the amount of times I have discovered I am almost done a sidequest that I didn't realize I had started.

I know what will happen. It will be an hour long quest and 14 hours of codex reading.

I know what that feels like. I was once heading through a mercenary lair, thinking it was part of the main quest but instead it was just part of some side quest I was not even aware of. Bioware really dropped the ball when they decided to have nearly every side quest explained by lengthy and boring codex entries.

The only thing that bothers me is that it seems that it is the price of about 2/3rds of the game, and it isn't even close to that much of the length of the game. I will admit it does look very epic, though I don't know if it would be enough to make me willing to spend $40 on it. The most I have ever spent on a DLC was $20 for that GTA 4 Lost and the Damned DLC, and I regret that decision every time I play that game.

That are impossible to navigate through to find the one you want. I am finding armor that has been giving me quests. Didn't even know until those markers started springing up on my mini map out of nowhere.
