I'm very excited about this, but not so sure Alistair will be sticking around for good. To me, it looks like he's king. And if you freeze at about 1:20, it looks like Oghren's with you. So it may be that Al plays an NPC this time, and Oghren will be the main character. I just hope there's some addressing of the love interests, since the ending I had with Zevran said he never left my side, and I'll want at least some kind of justification for going off adventuring without him.
I'm guessing bioware will use the information from your save file if you use one, so if Alistar didn't become king, it'll be the Queen woman.

I assume if you start fresh, Alistar will have been made king by default.
It would be interesting and I'd be all for it, but that hasn't been confirmed yet. Devs on the official forums have been very tight-lipped about whether or not there's a canon ending to the game. Since the endings aren't like Mass Effect's (where pretty much the same thing happens plus or minus a few side details), rather there are some pretty wide variations in what could have happened, it's led to lots of speculation that BioWare's going to pick one version and stick with it. I don't know for sure if that's the deal. Right now it's still early, so we're kind of in a holding pattern until new info trickles down.

Personally, I trust BioWare and will pick up this expansion either way.
Really? Because I'm pretty sure...

The Darkspawn are defeated; the details that change are a) who rules the country - Alistar or the Queen (Annora?), b) Is your hero alive or dead, and so forth.... I suppose the 'canon' ending is whichever one's end up being used by the expansion if you start a ew character from Orlais, or if your character died at the end of the game.
Don't forget:

The Dark Ritual. This is a major change because you're either bringing a god-child into the world or you aren't. If any future plots are going to revolve around that child, and Arl Foreshadow seems to suggest they will (and he's never been wrong), then a canon ending will need to include the Dark Ritual. That means no sacrificing yourself, Alistair, or Loghain. And if they're going to canonize something like that, they'll probably canonize even more.

True, but I don't think we'll see that coming about so soon after the end of Dragon Age. By the same token, at the end of Mass Effect, you could have the humans efficiently taking over the council, and yet they aren't cannoning the ending to Mass Effect yet.

I think for a game set long after the events of Mass Effect / Dragon Age, they'll have to cannonize there endings for the sake of history, but when the stories are straight after each other, its possible to use the save files to modify everything

There already was a Collector's Edition released. I assume you are referring to "Game of the Year Edition" like Bethesda does. I highly doubt BioWare will do something similar; especially since this is not DLC, it is an expansion. And there are likely many more add-ons to yet be anounced or released for Dragon Age Origins. I read somewhere that BioWare intends to support Dragon Age with at least 2 more years of DLC. So, if they do a "GotY Edition" you will be waiting for a while.
They did do a boxset with NWN with one of the expansions at least. I've got my copy with NWN+Shadows of Undrentide, which I believe is the first of the three expansions for the game. It's quite possible Bioware will release a similar pack for Dragon Age as well.

Um, need I mention Neverwinter Nights: Diamond Edition?
Which had the game plus every expansion (Including the previous downloadable only ones)?

They'll release a similar version of Dragon Age, but only after all the DLC is done.

I would have mentioned it, had I known of it :p

But my point was less to do with the final box set and more to do with perhaps steady releases of new, more filled, boxsets as more expansions and DLC are released.

as cool as those guys at Bioware are they are still apart of EA, an evil company who loves nothing more than to drain your wallet, so im not surprised about the price after what they did to Biowares jolly partners Panademic

£20 for more Dragon Age, and not just more Dragon Age, but a whole new story? HELL YES!

Also, to the people bitching that it's "only" 15 hours, some of us have lives, and can't pump 60+ hours into everything. 15 hours is a nice length to round off the superb original game.

I know that. It's a sacrifice that I'm willing to make: I'm of the firm belief that such an edition will be released, especially since GOTY editions are a great way of breathing fresh life into old releases on store shelves.
I suppose it's possible. I know I wouldn't be able to wait though.

hmm. I didn't know that. Maybe they will do something similar w/ Dragon Age; we will just have to wait and see.

Who's with me on betting that the 'old' character will be morrigan?
I'd just get a huge laugh if they announce its actually the dog.

Im gonna say it... this the first game im gonna admit to being a fanboy off. And, as long as i can pull one of my characters, including lvls items heck even party members into the expansion story Im gonna get it.

Basicly u need to be able to play as one of the characters u have already made and completed the base game with... Alistar sounds as cocky as ever 'I kinda miss the whole darkspawn killing think' XD
