Lily walked out of the cave with her hand in front of her face, blinking her eyes as they adjusted to the light of day. She and Sid watched the others battle against some Bug like Pokemon to train, but she was not interested, just eager to arrive at Azalea Town. Grabbing her compatriot's wrist, she started off away from the group, towards her destination.
Sid, not entirely focused on the ground ahead of him, suddenly stumbled over a rock, and fell straight to the ground, out of Lily's grasp. "Owww..." he moaned as he stood back up. He turned around, feeling a tap on his shoulder. Trying to preempt the scolding he was going to receive, he began, while turning around, "I know, I know, I fell..."
Whereupon he was rudely interrupted by what actually tapped him on the shoulder, a floating stone with two thin arms, large rough hands, and an annoyed looking face. It seemed to be the rock he just tripped over. It promptly screamed in Sid's face, "DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDE!" causing him to fall backwards.
Lily, at this point, turned back to see the floating rock man staring down the young boy. Quickly moving her hand to her Pokeballs, she grasped her most recent catch and tossed it between Sid and his newfound enemy. "Quick, take it, Ghastly!"
The ghost appeared with a cry and a friendly smile. "Ghastly!" it sang, but the Rock Pokemon only seemed annoyed. It grabbed a rock from the ground and chucked it at Lily's Ghost. Striking the Ghastly dead between the eyes, the wild Pokemon smirked and turned its attention back to Sid.
Lily was surprised that this Pokemon had even managed to damage her Ghastly. She knew that she couldn't let this Pokemon get away now. It seemed tough enough, and she would need a few more Pokemon for her upcoming Gym battle... Or battles, if Goldenrod City had a Gym. "Don't just take that, Ghastly! Fight back with a Lick!" she commanded.
Shaking off its pain, the Ghastly did just that, and Licked its opponent. The Pokemon wiped its face off in disgust and went to throw another rock. However, some jolt ran through its body, and it was unable to move.
Smiling at her foe's weakened condition, Lily commanded her Ghastly to attack again. "Lick it, Ghastly!"
Her Pokemon once again glided in and Licked the opposing Pokemon. It went to throw another rock, and this time, managed to chuck it at the Ghastly. When Lily's Pokemon was hit, it backed up and its haunting name became something of a whimper and a whine. "Ghastlyyyyyy..."
Lily was starting to get annoyed at her own Pokemon for being such a crybaby. She decided to wrap it up, quickly. "One more Lick, Ghastly!"
Hesitantly, her Pokemon obeyed, and the scene mirrored the first time that Ghastly had used Lick. The enemy Pokemon went for another rock, but found itself unable to move. Lily was pleased. "That's all we need," she muttered. She grabbed an empty Pokeball and whipped it at the wild Pokemon.
The Ball shook back and forth numerous times, it was putting up quite a fight, before finally clicking and sealing. Lily returned Ghastly to its home before walking up to her new catch. Picking up the Ball, she turned to Sid. "Recognize this Pokemon, Sid?"
"Uh, yea!" he answered. "That's a Geodude."
"Geodude, huh?" Lily placed her new addition with Eevee and Ghastly before whispering fiercely, "Alright! Geodude's mine!"
'It'll do,' she thought, 'until we run into the Beasts again... Or I get to Ho-Oh.'
