For me, it is stuff like relief aid and public awareness. A country like Japan will get hit by an Earthquake and the whole world is instantly on track to sending resources to help rebuild. A country like Haiti is hit even worse, and it takes Canada shouting at people to get off their asses before any help comes.

Then there is the annoying habit of people throwing respect to the dead, regardless of whether they deserved it or not. I know that speaking ill of the dead is in poor taste, but glorifying them undeservedly is just as bad. Take Steve Jobs for example. I won't piss on his grave, but I disliked him as he lived, so I'm not going to be shouting about what a great man he is.

What sort of social trends bother you?

Double standards, in general really. I belive in 'equalality' so thats why it bothers me.

Mercy killing, I don't think its too bad, or course, the world isn't black n' white its grey and also where do we draw the line?

Political correctness. It's gotten to the point of being ridiculous. You can barely say anything anymore without anyone getting offended and all up in arms about it.

Thought about this earlier...

People who write on deceased people's facebook pages years after they have died... I mean, why? It's like texting someone who is dead, they aren't going to get the message.

I can understand it helps people grieve but wtf did people do before facebook?

For the record, it was the 3rd anniversary of a friends untimely death (murder). Seeing people writing on her wall three months earlier for no reason, can't help but think it just makes things worse in the long run.

And while we're at it, Faeries. I can't believe the Fair Folk have so completely dominated our society.

The rise in morbid obesity levels worldwide. Also, the average age for developing type two diabetes is getting lower every year. The government should pass a law banning obese people from buying chocolate in their own post code.

World hunger. Shouldn't we have fixed this by now? I mean by 2015 we're supposed to have flying cars and all that jazz so we should at least make sure people are eating...

Sir, I couldn't agree more! I noticed this especially after Michael Jackson died. Days before, he was a creepy pedophile. Then he dies and suddenly, he's only known as the King of Pop again. Dying does not make someone better. If they are douche-bags alive, they just become dead-douche-bags. Very few people agree with me.

People claiming the world is falling apart in some way or other when it's slowly getting better and better. There are isolated issues which deserve attention, but as a whole the human race is doing fine. Really.

Additionally: People who believe what they see/read daily on TV and online is an accurate representation of the world, especially when what they only ever seek out those things which support their skewed worldviews.

Argh, yes.

Also, the idea that having to respect and tolerate people of different race/religion/gender/whatever as you is some terrible fascist PC gone mad conspiracy.

The growing tumors of electronics in things that do not need them.
Allow me to copy/paste an argument I made on this exact topic about a month ago.
AHEM: "I am frustrated by modern trends of stuffing electronics into every damn thing. All it does is add unnecessary complexity and more possible faults just so you can plug an iPod in. An old car from the '50's or '60's will basically run forever, just as long as you keep it maintained, but electronics are way more finicky and picky, a new car today will stay running for 10 to 20 years, tops. Because unnecessary electronics are integrated into everything, production costs are higher, maintenance is a far more labyrinthine art, as you have to avoid wires and keep everything plugged in right, and things just break easier. I want something simple and rugged, not some fragile, inoperable cancer of silicon networks..."

Preeeetty much that.

Baggy clothing is making a bit of a comeback in men's fashion. As a skinny man, this bothers me greatly.

And people who spend to much time in the Manosphere posting on here.

Also, the fact that groups like the Westboro Baptist Church still exist, and worse, are allowed to picket funerals and other events. Seriously, I'm not suggesting a cull or anything, but they could at least be banned from attending or something. If the manager of a McDonald's can decide who's allowed to enter his premises, surely something can be done to keep these mentalists away from people's private lives.

This "raising awareness" stuff people are doing. A friend of mine recently wore pink for a week "to raise breast cancer awareness" and was quite vocal about it. Breast cancer isn't some obscure endangered animal; I'm pretty sure just about everyone is "aware". Wearing pink all day only makes it look like you're helping.

I hate how Mountain Dew and now Ruffles have held flavor competitions to determine which flavor out of X is the most popular. After a few weeks, they pull the losing flavors but then the winning flavor is ultimately pulled after 1 to 3 months. Yes, I am still bitter about Pitch Black going away again. Same with the Buffalo Chicken Ruffles. Also, what the hell happened to my Livewire Mountain Dew?!

Another one I just thought of, this one is more musical.
The trend by teenagers to call any band that has one growl and/or blast beat "HARDCORE DEATH METAL" makes me want to punch them with a crane
