Don't know really, I'm assuming England with prevail. I actually watched Doctor Who instead... it was a good episode...
It actually kicked off after Doctor Who.
Hm? Was it supposed to? Were the americans late?
It was supposed to. 7:30pm kickoff, Who ended roughly 20 second before.

I am very much looking forward to John Oliver's commentary on the match on monday. It should be quite humorous. All in all I thought it was a pretty enjoyable match, I didn't expect the first goal to be so early in the match.

I thought the game was great and neither team will win. The winner of the 2010 World Cup will either be Argentina or the reigning champs:Italy.
Don't watch much football do you? Argentina have the best team, but their organisation is a shambles. Italy are an aging team who were very lucky to win last time, they won on penalties, won the semi in extra time and were even lucky to beat Australia in the first knockout round. Since then, people have retired and I'm not convinced by them in the slightest.

America won't win. They just won't. They didn't play particularly well today, just for the majority of the game, England seemed happy to just let the game happen. Then England took the game by the balls and America were lucky to not get punished for how they dealt with Rooney and incredibly lucky that Heskey exists. Should've bought Zamora. If they did, I would actually get behind them for a change. Rio wouldn't have got injured too.

Supporting Slovakia. MON SLOVAKIA.

A lot of people I know are mad about this. More then the people who are happy anyways. Everyone was sure that Britain was going to pound the US too...
England, The individual countries that make up the UK have their own teams. Ireland (I can't remember which one) almost qualified themselves but the French are cheating bastards.

I was pretty pissed when that happened, I was anticipating that England would obliterate them. Ah well it was still a good match.
That was the most embarrassing thing that could've happened, the entire pub I was in collectively facepalmed. Apart from that one table of USA fans who got booed back to their seats as soon as they had the gall to cheer.

I really enjoyed watching it in my Uni's pub, the atmosphere was great, everyone was cheering, booing and chanting together and that one table of USA fans just added to the banter.

That was a travesty of a goal. It slipped straight past him, he should have been faster! Fabio seems forgiving, but I guarantee the bastard barely made it to the car park and beyond, the English aren't as forgiving.

It should have been 1-0, but there's nothing that can be done about it now, we just have to look ahead...

Heh, and funnily enough, I always said, even on the day "what's the point? We're just gonna get knocked out in the semi-finals anyway" because I thought I didn't care, but apparently I'm mistaken. ;)

The England V USA match is something every Brit assumed we'd win with ease. And aside from that tragedy of a mistake, fair play to you, your defence was solid as hell.

I really thought England would win. Good on the Americans for staying in the game though.

Yeah watching it by yourself isn't that great. I watched the opening match by myself and it was eh, but I was talking to a few people on MSN who were watching it so it wasn't that bad. We had some people over for the Greece vs Korea game and that was pretty good. I couldn't be noisy and stuff for the England vs USA match because it didn't start till 4am here. I have a few friends staying over tonight to watch the Australia vs Germany match so we are gonna be yelling like idiots even though this match doesn't start till 4am either.

For the final match I definitely need to go to some sports pub or something and watch it, I know of one but don't know if I could get in because I'm under 18.

Hellyeah the US tied England and as an American I am pumped. Granted the goal was a major fluke, but the US played well enough. For all of those who watched the match on ABC the British announcer was a biased, arrogant ass. Take that!
No, he was going by the facts (and facts have the annoying tendancy of being biased toward the truth)... England are a better team. You said it yourself... the only goal you got was because of major fluke and America was playing well. So America was playing well and England was playing poorly, you only got a goal from a fluke... and America didnt win. So how was the announcer being arrogant? He was doing his job by making the assumptions he made, he couldnt have expected that goal to go in... you cant predict luck, so minusing the luck factor from the game it would have ended 1-0 to England. He did his job to the best of his ability, dont get pissy because he didnt side with your team and couldnt see how luck was on your side for this match.

Actually, USA didn't show much potential at all. I'm surprised they even qualified. Compared to pretty much all of the other teams they suck.

Poor Robert Green, this is what he's been training for his entire life, there were no mitigating circumstances, it didn't bounce funny or anything, he just completely cocked it up.

We [England] were pretty poor yesterday it wasn't good to watch, the only reason we scored in the first 10 minutes was because the match kicked off at 1930 and the yanks didn't turn up until 1941!

Seriously though I thought the USA looked pretty average apart from Donovan and Howard (I was particularly impressed by his ability to actually catch the ball, so many keepers just punch everything these days), you should qualify but then you'll probably get knocked out by Germany in round 2. Unless of course you can score more goals than us against Slovenia and Algeria, in which case we'll probably get knocked out by Germany in round 2.

Alright I'll admit that I have zero knowledge of soccer (or football for you brits :p) But isn't the USA supposed to kinda suck at the game? And isn't England supposed to be somewhat decent?
No we're not decent and you don't suck. On paper we kick ass but football is played on grass, and our team rarely gels. As for the USA you don't suck any more, you're just mediocre now!

Honestly I don't understand soccer (football for you annoying non Americans =P) you play one and a half hours for 1 point? Talk about a snooze fest. That's just my opinion.
Its the suspense of waiting for a goal that drives people crazy :)

Bwahaha!!
Should use that joke in my History class when this is brought up.

But still, I wasn't really paying attention to the match, because of the simple fact it was England and Yankeeland.
I'll watch when Italy does something.

the entire match he whined about how the US didn't deserve to even be tied with God's gift to the soccer world: England. Announcers are supposed to be objective if it's broadcasted on a national level. Had it been a British announcer in England he can say whatever, but he was completely biased towards england and gave no credit to the fact that the US actually played alright whereas England played like shit. He was a terrible announcer and whined and complained the entire match, but what else can one expect from the Brits?
